i do dark period before switching to 12/12 usually 38h, i do 38 cause the period for my 18/6 is 6am till midnight, so 38h make my lights goes on at 8pm till 8am, have to do the day at night cause of the heat. i notice everytime the stretch in 36h of dark, gain easy 5cm.

lol man i smiled at you while reading your thread, i totally understand you, at a time last year i had several big cuts per day was killing me for my babies. but it all went good ^^

You don't necessarly have to switch to flowering cause you gave them a dark period, you come back after to your 18/6 cycle i don't think they would bother, it would be let's say a big big rainy day outside with no sun

The dark period for my girls is 36H. It's there to help switching to flower...

Im just not sure what you were going to do if it wasnt the blackout.. Can you explain me so I can give you a proper response?

@Romeu9 i usually just flip them on 12/12 when they wake up from the 6hour sleep from there last 18/6 cycle.

before they wake up from there last 18hour sleep i go in and switch the bulbs round and set the timer for 12/12 then they wake up and there good to go. So i guess just 6hours of darkness then onto 12/12. So will now be using 36hours for this. I have read that they go into flower quicker which is no bad thing I'm going to have a lil read and find out why this is...

It's not like it happens in nature....the sun go away for 36 hours so i'm curious... Why do they love it so much, or is purely trickery? a question i must find the answer too!

The dark period - since its something done indoors - is due to overnight switch to flowering (12/12), something that doesnt happend in nature.

To help the plants understand that they must start flowering now, thats why you give them un extra dark period. On the other hand, you can compensate that by slowly bringing down the lights over one week.

Personaly I do both, i bring the lights down over one week and then 36h dark period! Even faster trigering!

Wicked thanks dude, yep i have done quite a bit of reading today and it seems the thing to do. so i will be doing it to all next time, i just used to veg them for 40-50 days and they show flowers within a couple days after switching. I also have a tent which was set to 12/12 about 5 days ago so will be good to see if the others catch up.

no, you do the dark period between the 18/6 and 12/12 cycle. So you end your 18 hours with Dark period, then 36h later you put the light back on for 12/12

Hiya Mykol as Dust said before you switch to 12/12 put your girls in darkness for up to 36hours depending on the time you want your lights on off etc then switch to 12/12.
