About the FIMed one she reacts very well, I selected the lower one, in 7.5L pot it seem that’s just what she needed.

Hi Guys

Sorry got a late start on the journal. The last two months or so was a bit crazy and had some issues to deal with but back now and hopefully all smooth sailing from here.

I managed to swap some seeds with Kali so am doing one of each for this journal. I have put the specs of the tent on the pics and will try and put enough info on the pics so its nice and easy to read.

Had some problems with germinating a couple of WS and finally got one to pop but it seems like a slow starter aswell. Not sure if anyone else has had slow growth with these.

Okay so soaked the babies for 24 hours and the had them in a biltong maker (pic below) until the first fan leaves appeared. That was about seven days. Nothing special with the germinating method , pretty standard (water, paper towel, jiffy pots)

Got a new tent over the holidays aswell (crazy postage costs but I was tired of my small home made box) Trying DWC again and used 25 L buckets each with a nice big air stone. Using some 35% H202 on a weekly basis as my temps are not ideal at the moment. Its still summer here so 31 Degrees in the tent at the moment. Using a homemade co2 system (standard sugar and yeast setup). Also got my first 600 W dual spectrum bulb so hoping to see some good results.

Oh and if anyone knows the best way to take pics with a HPS light. Is there a setting on the cam I can change to help. Not much of a photo Guru and hoping someone here is ;-) Hate that HPS yellow lol

Below is a pic of a biltong maker ;-)

The little babies

The tent

And the two ladies.

Hope you guys are well and nice to be back

Added water and 10 ml per litre of liquid oxygen to the water tank switched it on and let it run over night ,the next day I empted the water out of the tank replaced it with fresh water an let it run for an hour empted it now its ready to go,

Clean And Calibrate Ph & Ec Pens

first i cleaned my Ph probe by using a tooth brush and a gel type soap that came with my kit i have 2 plastic containers that i filled with cold boiled water from my kettle, im using 1 container for cleaning and the second for rinsing my probe. i applied the gel to the brush and gently cleaned the glass bulb and metal temperature probe then dipping the probe and brush into the container with soapy dechlorinated water, then repeat cleaning a few more times to make sure ive cleaned any chemical residue off the glass and metal probes, i rinsed the probes with dechlorinated water, then with another tooth brush i cleaned the probes in the other container with the clean dechlorinated water get get rid of any soap, the reason i use dechlorinated water is that chlorine in normal tap water is a chemical and can leave residue on the probes which may give inaccurate readings. Thou it would be a lot cleaner water if I used distilled water. Which I don't have at the moment , will get one for next grow hopefully. Now my probes are clean i dried them ready for calibration ,i pored a Ph solution of 7 and 4 in 2 separate containers i first calibrated my pen to 7 then rinsed the probe in dechlorinated water dried the probes then calibrated it to Ph 4 rinsed and dried. now for my Ec pen, the same method applied with the rinsing and drying like with the ph pen but instead of cleaning with a tooth brush and soap it comes with a cream and flat padded type brush, this cream seems to be taking a layer off my ec probe so when cleaning i brush very gently in a curricula motion to be careful not to take to much off ,cleaned and calibrated to 2.8 then in a 1.4 Ec solution, my pen only calibrates to the 2.8 solution, the 1.4, i got separate and is used only to double check the pen is reading fine. both pens are now ready to go, sorted.

Germination

Date 17/02/2013

For germination I shall be using my aeroponic propagator to maintain the right temperature and humidity. I filled the propagator tank with dechlorinated water that I left in a open bucket for 48 hours to dechlorinate took an Ec reading that was at 0.2 very soft water in my area , im sure im going to end up with a calcium deficiency but we will wait and see. I then added ghs mother powder feed to the water till I had an Ec reading of 0.7 , set the Ph to 5.5, put in the water heater ,set at 23c and air curtain (which is like a long flexible air stone pipe ) switched on the air pump and water pump ,then filled a glass with water with a Ph of 5.5 place the glass on the planting shelf then added the 10 money maker seeds which sank to the bottom, put on the propagator lid with air vent closed to rise the humility and temperature, the temperature with light off in my grow tent is 20.3c at 2 feet high just 2 feet under my grow light, temperature at plant level is 21.2 humidity at 72%.

<img added to jiffy plugs to the bucket and left for a few hours, came back to to check the Ph which was now reading 5.4 so I raised the Ph to 5.5 again and left over night then rechecked the Ph , reading 5.5 stabilized accomplished I then added the jiffy plugs to the aeroponic propagator ready for the seeds to go in.

<img checked the Ph that was reading 5.5 and Ec at 0.7 all good no change there ,with the rest of my seeds I doubled up on toilet paper to form a thick layer on a plate, poured the seeds and water on to the toilet paper ,wrapped up the seeds and put it in the propagator with the plate upside down to keep the seeds in the dark put on the lid my aeroponic propagator an left for 24 hours.

<img planted them all into my jiffy plugs and switched on my grow light with the MH duel spectrum bulb for vegetative growth one of the first seeds that cracked the day before is starting to pop out the jiffy plug im going to name this plant (first lady) he he I came back after 2 hours to check the temperature that is reading 32 with my propagator lid on so I left the lid off then came back to check the temperature after an hour that now reads 27c still a little to hot I think so I clipped my fan onto my aeroponic propagator pointing to cool down that area now the temperature is reading about 25c with lights on that's good enough for me water temperature is reading 23c that's all good to, humidity is a little low at 49 but im not to concerned its at 70 at ground level I believe its only reading 49 because of the fan.

<img shot up out of the jiffy plugs still with shell hats on apart from first lady who is nearly free, the temperature and humidity are all fine but when I checked the Ph and Ec of the water it is starting to rise, due to the fact that the water is evaporating leaving a higher Ec and Ph levels, Ph was reading at 5.6 and Ec at 0.9 so I added more dechlorinated water at a lower ph 5.4, slowly poured the water in my aeroponic propagator tank till I got the Ph of 5.5 and Ec to 0.7 I used about 2little of water, now all is back to normal, sweet as.

<img
hello Green house cannabis cup contestents and just fans of the site. today i planted 4 GHSC White lemon's, and with that it is time to start my grow journal for the contest. So Below i will give you all the information with regards to my grow / nutrient test i am conducting for my first entry in the cup.

For this grow, i will be using a straight Coco medium. No perlite, no vermiculite, no added nutrients to the medium. i am doing this so that the plants will be be responding souly to the nutrients i feed them and nothing else.

As i said i planted 4 white lemon seeds today once the seeds pop i will start them on a floresent bulb until they are developed seedlings then slowly introduce them to the MH 400W blub for veg, after a short veg period i will start flowering at which time the MH blub goes back on the shelf and out comes the 400W HPS.

a quick list of all the ingredients involed in this grow:

1. 4 GHSC White lemon seed's - free, thank you green house

2. 1 brand new powersun 400W digital ballest , mogel and reflector - 150$ canadian

3. 1 brand new 400W sylvania Metalarc MH blub for veg - 25$ canadian

4. 1 brand new 400W sylvania Lumalux HPS bulb for flowering - free with light kit

5. 4 2 gallon pots to start with catch trays for run off - free with lighting kit

6. coco for medium - so far i have used less then 5$'s worth of a 15$ brick

7. GHSC Powderfeeding Hybrid - free, thanks to green house seed co

8. General hydroponic's Flora nova - free left over from previous grow

9. make shift watering jug - 99 cents

total cost for this grow $ 180.99 canadian, mind you i will get many crops out of my ballest and probably 4 - 6 crops out of the bulbs. so let's see what kinda damage i can do.

a picture of the free kit i received from green house for entering the contest within the first 300 entries.

i don't germinate seeds before planting them i just throw them in the medium about an inch down asshole up and apply water. so for now all i have to share is photo's of my set up but stay tuned as i will be updateing this journal very often, and share loads of pictures.

GHSC White lemon not yet ready to come out of its shell but soon enough!!!

stay tuned for an update as soon as they pop!

Hello friends! I'm almost finished my autoflower grow and just can't wait any longer to get my Cup journal started. Especially since I picked up the seeds 2 days ago and my "secret weapons" shipment that I ordered from Holland on Friday, showed up here in Canada by UPS today Talk about fast!

After the success that I saw switching to the Powderfeed with my auto's about 1/2 way through the grow, I decided to add to the free 1 kg of Hybrid Powderfeed that GHSC generously sent me (to be used for the Trainwreck during flowering) by purchasing 1 kg of Mother's Powderfeed for both strains for vegetative growth & 1 kg of Sativa (called "Long Flowering" for Canada & the USA customers lol) for the Super Lemon Haze plants during flowering.

As you can see in the picture, they also kindly and generously sent me a free hat (my first GHSC item!) after I spoke with them by phone when my dumb ass (see also stoned) accidentally clicked and ordered 2 bags of Mother Powderfeed by mistake I have to say that the guys at the Powderfeed store were more than friendly and easy to deal with. Thanks Mike, and thanks to the kind gentleman who answered my call, in Dutch, and got a good laugh when I innocently asked if he spoke English and then replied in perfect English, "Why yes of course" LOL.

Oh boy..most Dutch speak English don't they? I can be so ignorant sometimes I thought many did but..

I need to thank Bigbrown for the "Yin-Yang" name, when I mentioned the strains I was thinking he said something about it being a real Yin-Yang grow, and he's right with two powerful strains at very opposite ends of the effects spectrum

My plans so far are to germinate 6 seeds, 3 from each strain, grow them all out until they are ready to transplant into the 23 liter containers and go into the scrog keeping the 2 best from each strain and culling the other 2. I'm also thinking of doing a comparison with some plants receiving only the Powderfeed & the others the Powderfeed plus a few additives but I'm not 100% sure how I want to do that with 3 plants from each strain or exactly what additives I want to use. I might try just Powderfeed on 1 plant from each strain and additives on the other 2 plants for vegging, then move to 1 plant from each strain receiving only Powderfeed and the other 1 from each strain Powderfeed plus additives once they move into the 23 L pots. If anyone has any suggestions or comments please feel free to voice them

I'm hoping to see/show that while the plants with additives may do a little better, there is not a huge difference between them and that the increased ease of use, and lower cost of using just the Powderfeed makes it an awesome product. But we will have to see, the purely Powderfeed plants may even outperform the plants with additives..that would be cool!! What I'm really hoping that I see that purchasing all of these additives and mixing them is a waste of my time and money But I'm a tinker, I just have to screw with stuff and try and make it a little better lol

I'm not germinating today, germination date is January 2nd, same date as the harvest of my 3 remaining autos which I will hang to dry in the grow tent since it will not be in use until the SLH & Trainwreck babies grow bigger (and since it has a carbon filter!). I would start them right away but my seedling area right now is in the same room as my veg/flowering tent and it is at about 30-32% rH right now to finish flowering. So just before they are done I will be cranking up the 9 gallon humidifier shown in the picture that I just purchased specifically for this purpose to get rH to about 60% which will be perfect for a nice slow dry of the 3 plants from my last grow, and high enough for seedlings to start off comfortably.

More pictures and details about gear and nutrients will follow with germination pictures next post which should be Jan 03 or 04th. I am picking up a few new things..an intake fan for the tent, an EC meter, and a 4th LED for vegetative growth and supplementary flowering lighting in the tent for sure.

So that being said here are a few pictures of awesome GHSC products to start of this grow journal, as well as the awesome new Bob Marley shirt I got as a Christmas gift

Best of luck to all growers and friends!

PEACE

EDIT: Ya I just realized I put the wrong package of seeds in front of the wrong Powderfeed..in case anyone is concerned that I may not know which one to use with what strain LOL

Hello all,

Well this will be my first grow journal here at Strain-Hunter.

I had some probs with an earlier grow session but afterall it turned out prety well.

I started 3 weeks ago to start some new life with:

3 GH-Cheese

2 Lemonskunk instead of one

1 Chemdog

Using:

HPS 250W

Small tent: 90x90x160

-Soilground for the first weeks.

-Plagron Batmix

-Plagron roots till the third week on 12/12

-Plagron bloom and green sensation

Using the Plagron 100% BIO as you can see so don't have to pay attention to the PH, they say.

Step by step:

1: Started with putting the seeds +/- 20 Hours into cups of water.

2: After those 20 hours i placed them between not to wet tissues.

3: 1,5 days the roots came out nice and placed the seeds in small containers with soilground.

Nothing wrong yet

After 1 a 2 days the new babies came above the soilground and then it happend.

The GH cheese and the Chemdog kept on growing like they should be but the Lemonskunk is some different story.

The LS didn't grow any further see pic. Nothing special added to the soilground only water.

See pic: 1 and 2

After 3 days i saw the Cheese and Chemdog growing nice but still no progression with the two Lemonskunk. Don't know what is going on but i have throw them away because i dind't any proggression.
This is the first atempt to grow so be gentle. So...the babys were in the glass of water from monday evening till tuesday morning (12 hours-ish), then in wet papers...they got nice big roots as designed (GHS ftw) so tomorow they will make contact with the soil. Because the lights did not work (we wired it a few times but no luck...going to send it back) the babys will have to grow under the sun (best timing...we have a lot of sun/heat). I'll post a pic with the seedlings and the nursery tomorow. Sorry for the block of text, writing from my dumbphone. Have a good evening/morning/day!
