9 likesSTRAIN HUNTERS SWAZILAND - DAY 1 Less than six months have passed since our last expedition in Jamaica, and here we are ready to go again. It's the most exciting feeling, the one that doesn't let me sleep at night for the anticipation. This time we head to Africa; Swaziland, to be precise. The mission: to retrieve the original genetics of the legendary Swazi landrace. The crew arrived in Amsterdam on the previous days from different locations, and we spent the whole day on wednesday checking the equipment and testing the cameras and the hard disks. I didn't sleep much last night, and woke up early this morning to finish packing my last things. It is very challenging to organize the equipment and personal effects in an efficient and effective way for such an expedition. We try to keep our personal items to a minimum in order to spare weight for the heavy equipment (hard disks, radios, batteries, GoPro cameras and accessories, tripods, microphones and sound equipment). My backpack weighs 14 kilograms when I am done packing. Arjan picks me up with a Taxi early morning, and we head to the airport. There we meet the rest of the crew, excluding Simon who is already waiting for us in Swaziland. Cristian, Alessio e Andrea form the film-crew for this expedition. Cristian worked with us during the past 3 expeditions, Alessio and Andrea are new to Strain Hunters but they work with Cristian for many years and the three of them form a very tight crew. All of them have several experiences shooting documentaries in rough parts of Africa. We will see how they will fit in our mission. MrX is the official photographer, he was already with us during the last two expeditions and proved to be a great photographer and a really funny character to travel with. I am glad he's with us again for this trip. After checking in our luggage we smoke some weed outside the terminal building and we crack some jokes and take some nice pictures. We try to get our spirits ready for the long flight to Johannesburg, because it's not a short one. We clear passport control, then we enjoy some breakfast and do some shopping before heading to the gate for the security check. Surprisingly we have to pass through a full body-scan before boarding, a procedure normally reserved for flights to the USA but now randomly applied to all intercontinental flights departing from Schiphol airport. Our flight is almost 11 hours long, and all during the daytime. Long story... I managed to reserve seats with very good legroom, so at least we are not too uncomfortable. Take off is sharp on time, and soon the seatbelt sign is turned off and the entertainment system is turned on. I spend the entire flight watching movies, reading, and planning for the mission ahead. Airplane food sucks, but I am hungry and I eat everything they serve me. After several drinks the time starts flowing faster. After 8 hours in the plane I start to seriously need a smoke. I manage to get a little bit of "semi-sleep", also known as "airplane-coma". Finally we land in Johannesburg, at around 22:30 local time. We collect our luggage and we clear customs, then we head outside to look for the shuttle bus that will take us to our hotel. A bunch of local hasslers and luggage-porters surrounds us, and I immediately realize this is a great chance to score some quick bud. After all we really need it, because we have nothing to smoke with us and we have to spend a night here in Johannesburg before heading off to Swaziland tomorrow morning. I quickly ask some of the hasslers and they run off on a mission to score some weed for me. It takes about 5 minutes to reach the shuttle bus and to load all our staff, then we start driving. At this point I am alost thinking it's not going to happen, when I see the two hasslers running towards the shuttle bus, screaming and waving their arms. I beg the driver to stop, I jump out and run towards the guys. They scored some weed for me! It's incredible, it all happened in a few minutes, right outside the airport! I pay them 200 Rands (around 20 Euros) for around 5 grams of decent outdoor from the Transkei, then I jump back in the shuttle bus and get a funny look from the driver. The crew is happy, now we have something to smoke to relax from the long fight before going to sleep! The drive to the Hotel is quick. We check in, drop our bags in the rooms and go down to the bar for a few beers. We smoke some weed just outside the lobby, on the terrace of a closed pub. The quality of the bud is mediocre, but right now it's really a saver. I enjoy the harsh taste, and I get really high; I feel the length of day now; I need some good sleep. Tomorrow we head to Swaziland. The hunt is on...

8 likesHere we go guys.... finally, and out of the blue, a new LIVE THREAD begins. Arjan, Olaf and myself arrived in Canada with a KLM flight 12 hours ago. We met on the early hours of wednesday at Schiphol Airport, got some breakfast and boarded the plane. The almost 8 hours daytime flight went smooth, with no delays. But by the time we landed I was craving a smoke. Real bad. Lucky for us clearing customs was fast and easy, and in no time we were in a taxi direction downtown Toronto. The sky deep blue, full sun, and a mild temperature around 24 degrees made our adjusting to the jetlag a lot easier. After checking in and leaving our stuff in our rooms we went for a triple-A Alberta beef burger, really tasty, and then we grabbed a cab to go to the recently opened but already famous Vape On The Lake, the first official Vapor-Lounge in Canada. Our friend Marco Renda, organizer of the Treating Yourself Expo, welcomed us in the Vapor-Lounge with plenty of drinks and of course plenty of local high-grade strains brought by licensed medical growers. Canada is known for the quality of its bud, but here we are talking prime-time weed. Top of the game. In no-time we are stoned, and the airplane ride seems really far away already. Things get hazy from there on. It's now past 11pm local time, and past 5am tomorrow morning for my biological-stoned clock, so I figure I'll upload some pics and pass out. I am loving Canada. Every minute of it, and every toke. Tomorrow it's time to build the stand for the expo. PS: sorry for the poor quality of the pics. I am NOT MrX. It's clear, I should stick to the plants. LOL PPSS: all pics made with iPhone

Compact, easy to grow, and potent, it is exactly what youd expect out of a landrace Afghani. Lots of resin production and a hashy, earthy taste and its couchlock indica high are great, though they dont often measure up to todays fancy hybrids. Recommended for: chronic pain, muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant AK-47 Lineage: Colombian, Mexican, Thai and Afghani Breeder: Serious Seeds Flowering period: 53 - 63 days Yield: Good to great Strong smell, compact buds, great yield, and easy to grow. Compact stature. Look for the cherry smelling pheno. High is cerebral but not overpowering. Recommended for: chronic pain Apollo 11 Lineage: C'99 x Genius (Jack Herer) / [shivaskunk x JH f2] x shivaskunk Breeder: Brothers Grimm Flowering period: 45-55 days Yield: Average to good This is a great sativa for those who dont have the time for a plant like Haze. It tends to be very branchy, but its very forgiving to grow, and has a remarkably short flowering period for such a sativa plant. It has an up, creative high and a lemony taste. Recommended for: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses Big Bud Lineage: Skunk #1 x Afghani Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering period: 50-65 days Yield: Outrageous If youre looking to get the highest yield per plant possible, Big Bud is where its at. Unfortunately, its other characteristics dont match its yield. It has a skunky but not powerful smell, and the high is typically indica. Between its low potency and the low ceiling of the high, it doesnt make the best medical marijuana. Mr. Nices Critical Mass is a rebreed of Big Bud that fixes some of the potency issues. Big Bud is also very susceptible to bud rot and other kinds of mold. Recommended for: anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Blueberry Lineage: Juicy Fruit(highland) Thai x Afghani male x Chocolate Thai x Highland Oaxacan Gold Breeder: DJ Short Flowering period: 45-55 days Yield: Average Blueberry is very unique marijuana. It tends to turn from partially purple to full on blue, and if grown properly smells and tastes like blueberry muffins. The high is euphoric, uplifting, and comfortable. Blueberry can be difficult to grow, and is very sensitive to nutrients. Be sure not to overfeed. Recommended for: chronic pain, muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Bubblegum Lineage: Big Skunk with some Northern Lights Breeder: Serious Seeds Flowering period: 56-63 days Yield: Good to great Bubblegum tastes and smells exactly like what the name suggests. It has a powerful, euphoric, narcotic, indica stone and is very easy to grow. It is of medium to tall stature, and generally not very branchy. Recommended for: muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant California Orange Lineage: Thai x [Afghani x Acapulco Gold] Breeder: Nirvana Seeds Flowering Period: 56-70 days Yield: Good California orange, when grown well, has a sweet orange taste, but the potency is definitely lacking. The high is fairly typically indica, though not overwhelmingly so. Its a pretty forgiving plant to grow, but it fails to excel in any one aspect. Chronic Lineage: NL x Afghan x NL / NL x Big Bud x Afghan Breeder: Serious Seeds Flowering Period: 53-63 days Yield: Good to great Chronic was bred to be a good commercial variety. It isnt a branchy plant, and it doesnt respond well to topping, but it grows giant buds, which makes it well suited for SOG. Its mild, sweet smell and typical indica stone are nothing special but pleasant nonetheless. Recommended for: muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Cinderella 99 Lineage: ShivaSkunk x [sensi Jack Herer x Jack Herer] Breeder: Brothers Grimm, several knockoffs Flowering period: 60 days Yield: Good If you want a sativa high but dont have the room or the time to do it, C99 is for you. The high is all sativaheady and racy. But it flowers very quickly, and though its stretchy, its nothing like growing a full sativa. The taste and smell are a combination of citrus and floral, very refreshing. Recommended for: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses F-13 Lineage: Juicy Fruit(highland) Thai x Afghani male x Chocolate Thai x Highland Oaxacan Gold Breeder: DJ Short Flowering period: 49-63 days Yield: Average to good The most outstanding characteristic of F-13 is its amazing, powerful, and clear high. The second is that the plant turns purple, sometimes fully so but usually only partially. It grows like a stretchy sativa, but its nowhere near as bad as a landrace and its short flower time keep its stature in check. The smell and taste are a combination of earthy and vanilla-y. Recommended for: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses Haze Lineage: Thai x Columbian x Mexican x Vietnamese Breeder: The Flying Dutchman Flowering Period: 12-16 weeks Yield: Low to Average Haze is an interesting plant in that it actually makes a better breeder than it does a grower. It passes on its best characteristics, but alone, it's hard to grow and not worth the trouble. It has a sweet, sandalwood, spicy taste, and a very up, sativa, energetic high. It takes forever to flower, needs a ton of headroom, and is very sensitive to nutrients, so its not recommended for beginners. Recommended for: Crohns Disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses Hindu Kush Lineage: Landrace Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering Period: 45-50 days Yield: Average to Good Hindu Kush is a short, single-cola dominant indica that produces fat, sweet buds with a heavy stone. It is remarkably easy to grow, and has a very short flowering period. Pefect for SOG. Recommended for: chronic pain, muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant HOG Lineage: Kush x Afghani Breeder: T.H. Seeds Flowering Period: 56-63 days Yield: Good Strong, skunky smell and a knockout indica high combined with being easy to grow and a good yielder make this both a growers and a smokers favorite. Its short stature and big, fat, greasy colas make it perfectly suited to a SOG. Recommended for: chronic pain, muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Jack Herer Lineage: Skunk #1 x Northern Lights #5 x Haze Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering Period: 50-70 days Yield: Average to Great Jack Herers sativa phenotypes are average-yielding and Haze-dominant, while the indica dominant phenos look more like NL#5 and yield excellently. Both phenos have an up, energetic, sativa high, and are completely covered in trichomes. Jack Herer tends to be a stretchy plant, so be sure you have enough headroom, especially if you have the sativa phenotype. Recommended for (sativa phenos): epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses Recommended for (indica phenos): chronic pain, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Kali Mist Lineage: Haze x Skunk hybrid / Cambodian sativa x Silver Haze Breeder: Serious Seeds Flowering Period: 70-90 days Yield: Average to good Kali Mist is a nearly pure sativa with a potent, up, energetic high and a hazy, pine taste. It stretches dramatically, so make sure you have room to grow it. Its very mold resistant. Great headstash but not for beginners. Recommended for: Crohns Disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses Lavender Lineage: Super Skunk x Big Skunk Korean x Afghani-Hawaiian Breeder: SOMA Seeds Flowering Period: 56-63 days Yield: Average to good Lavender turns a very pretty purple color, and has a sweet, herbal, spicy candy taste. It has a classic, heavy indica stonenot daytime medicine. Its fairly easy to grow, and can be a very good yielder if given the right care. Recommended for: chronic pain, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Legends Ultimate Indica Lineage: Ortega x Sweet Tooth #2 Breeder: Legends Seed Co. Flowering Period: 49-63 days Yield: Great LUI is a great indoor plantpotent, good yielding, and easy to grow. It tastes like candy, and certain specimens can even change colors. Tight, compact buds and a heavy indica stone, as the name suggests. Short, compact stature. Recommended for: chronic pain, muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Mazar Lineage: Afghani x Skunk #1 Breeder: Dutch Passion Flowering Period: 56-63 days Yield: Good Mazar has a nicely balanced indica/sativa high and is an exceptionally easy, forgiving plant to grow. It is compact in stature and there is little phenotypic variation. Recommended for: anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Maple Leaf Indica Lineage: Afghani Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering Period: 45-50 days Yield: Good Maple Leaf Indica is a knockout indica from Sensis vintage Afghanica stock. Abundant resin production makes it great for hash making. The taste is syrupy sweet with some citrus. Expect little stretch and dense nuggets. Recommended for: chronic pain, muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Mr. Nice Lineage: G-13 x Hash Plant Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering Period: 60 days Yield: Good Mr. Nice is a knock-down, drag-out indica to rival any. It has a hashy, earthy taste, and its resin production is out of this worldgreat for making hash or other extracts. Its high is extremely munchie-inducing and put-you-to-bed potent, and its fairly forgiving to grow. Recommended for: chronic pain, muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Neville's Haze Lineage: Thai x Colombian with a 1/4 NL#5 Breeder: Greenhouse Seed Co, Mr. Nice Flowering Period: 12-14 weeks Yield: Good Nevilles Haze is an almost pure haze with some Northern Lights bred into it to tame it somewhat for indoor growing. However, it is still not a plant for the novice or impatient. It will wrap itself around the lights very quickly, and it takes forever to flower. But if youre looking for the classic haze high and taste, look no further. Recommended for: Crohns Disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses New York City Diesel Lineage: Mexican Sativa x Afghani Breeder: SOMA Seeds Flowering Period: 70 days Yield: Good NYC Diesel is best known for its citrus-grapefruit-lemon-fuel stench. Its not quite as potent as Sour Diesel, but it packs quite a punch. The high is powerful and sometimes overwhelming, with both sativa and indica effects. Be sure you have enough odor control when growing this. Recommended for: anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Northern Lights #5 Lineage: Afghani x Skunk #1 x Haze Breeder: Varied Flowering Period: 45-55 days Yield: Great One of the first successful hybrids of sativa and indica, Northern Lights changed the world of indoor growing. It combined a short flower period, a very high yield, good potency, a short, bushy profile, and ease of growinga perfect indoor plant. The high is a classic indica couchlock, and the taste is hashy and earthy. Its more of a growers plant than a smokers plant, but its always a safe bet. Recommended for: chronic pain, muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Romulan Lineage: California X [White Rhino X White Rhino] Breeder: Federation Seed Co Flowering Period: 55-60 days Yield: Average Romulan is a very strong mostly indica that tastes and smells like rotten fruit and black pepper. It is a striking dark green mottled with dark purple. Short plants and dense buds make this a good choice for a SOG setup. Recommended for: chronic pain, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Shiva Skunk Lineage: NL #5 x Skunk #1 [male] Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering Period: 45-55 days Yield: Good Shiva Skunk has a musky, skunky smell and a heavy smoke with mixed sativa and indica effects. It grows with indica dominant traits, and is remarkably hardy. Silver Haze Lineage: NL x Haze Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering Period: 65-75 days Yield: Average to good Though the haze is brought under control somewhat by the NL influence, this is still very much a sativa dominant plant. It stretches dramatically, the buds are airy and elongated, and the high is pure psychedelic sativa. Outrageous resin production makes this great for making kief or hash. Recommended for: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses Skunk #1 Lineage: 25% afghani, 25% Acapulco Gold, 50% Colombian Gold Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering Period: 45-50 days Yield: Good Skunk #1 is the classic from back in the 90s. Remember the stuff that made you think youd just hit a skunk when you opened the bag? This is it. Easy to grow with consistently good yields, but if you smoke too much the high can get uncomfortably racy. Recommended for: appetite stimulant Sour Diesel Lineage: [(SensiNL X MassSuperSkunk) X Dawg/Chem] X DNL Breeder: Reservoir Seeds Flowering Period: 75 days Yield: Good Sour Diesel has a stench like no other: citrus sour with ammonia, diesel fuel and skunk. It punches you in the face with an extremely powerful high and doesnt let go. Sour Diesel is very sensitive to light leaks, but if treated well it will give you some of the best smoke youve ever tasted. Expect significant stretch. Recommended for: chronic pain, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Strawberry Cough Lineage: Strawberry Fields x Haze Breeder: Dutch Passion Flowering Period: 63 days Yield: Average A sweet, strawberry smell and taste and a comfortable, dreamy, euphoric high make this a nice smoke, but it is a relatively low yielder and produces leafy, airy buds that are hard to trim. Dont expect every example to smell like strawberries, eitherit may take a little imagination with some. Recommended for: Recommended for: anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Super Silver Haze Lineage: [NL x Nevilles Haze] x [skunk x Nevilles Haze] Breeder: Mr. Nice Flowering Period: 56-70 days Yield: Average to great Super Silver Haze is one of the most revered strains in cannabis lore. It won the 1997, 1998 and 1999 Cannabis Cups in a row, and for good reasonits soaring, euphoric high and floral, sweet taste and smell are truly unique. The more indica phenotypes have the potential to be monster yielders, but the sativa phenotypes are generally more potent. Recommended for (sativa phenos): epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses Recommended for (indica phenos): chronic pain, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Super Skunk Lineage: Afghani x Skunk #1 Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering Period: 45-50 days Yield: Good Super Skunk is a great first plant to grow. Its hearty and hard to kill, it yields well, and its smell harkens back to the skunky, pungent stench that pot smelled like before all of the berry and diesel strains took over. Though its sativa parentage means it stretches more than your average indica, it makes a great indoor plant that will reward hard work with giant colas. Sweet Tooth #3 Lineage: Sweetpink Grapefruit x Blueberry x Grapefruit f1 Breeder: Spice of Life Flowering Period: 56 days Yield: Great Sweet Tooth is a favorite of commercial growers in Canada. Hearty, easy to grow and a great yielder combine with a heavy, sedative stone and an almost cloyingly sweet taste to make this a prizewinner several times over. Recommended for: chronic pain, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant Trainwreck Lineage: Afghani x [Lowland Thai x Mexican/columbian] Breeder: Clone only, Greenhouse Seed Co has a ripoff Flowering Period: 60-70 days Yield: Average Trainwreck is a mostly sativa plant from Humboldt County, California that is famous for its pepper/lemon/catpiss smell and its powerful, up high. Ultimate Afghan Kush Lineage: (Pure Afghani x Unknown Kush, F4) x Legends Ultimate Indica Breeder: Private Flowering Period: 55-60 days, some variation Yield: Good Expect big, fat colas with a pungent pine-lemon-sweet aroma. Hearty plants with good mold resistance make this a good choice for beginners. Some stretch, but minimal. The high is on the psychedelic side of indica, but less so in the phenotypes that lean toward LUI. Recommended for: chronic pain, muscle spasms, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant White Rhino Lineage: White widow x Afghani Breeder: Greenhouse, Nirvana Flowering Period: 56-63 days Yield: Good A spicy strong smell, killer resin production, and a knockout high combine to make this super-potent indica a famous one. The high can actually be too intense for some, so beware. White Rhinos particularly forgiving to grow, though it can be susceptible to mold. Recommended for: chronic pain, anti-nausea, anti-emetic, and appetite stimulant White Russian Lineage: AK-47 x White Widow Breeder: Serious Seeds Flowering Period: 53-63 days Yield: Good This is an F1 cross that results in stable, medium height plants with dense, resin-covered tops. The potency is in line with what you would expect from a cross between two legends such as these. White Widow Lineage: Brazilian x Indian Breeder: Sensi Seeds Flowering Period: 50-65 days Yield: Average White Widow can be too potent of a smoke for some, but those who can handle the intensity of the high get to enjoy one of the most legendary plants of the 1990s. A combination of high resin production and a pale shade of green makes the buds appear white, hence the name. Recommended for: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other seizure-related illnesses. please feel free to exsamine the list as i did not write this lists just sharing something interesting i found online. also feel free to add strains and your medical uses for them... credits: the first list came from treatyourself forums and was posted by a guy named smoking moose http://www.treatingy...ead.php?t=37970

3 likesRe: decarboxylated weed to smoke? Reviving this thread because I'm experimenting with decarbing before smoking these two specific strains. They were not cured at all and the high seemed to be missing something, like it was strong in some ways and non-existent in others. The overall feeling was being high but having to stop and notice it. This is much different than being completely bakedy. I tried the oven first. Indica bud in an oven bag. 105c or so for 45 mins. Changed it like crazy. Now it is much stronger and also hits me behind the eyes, which is just the head element this bud was missing. Turned it into sleepy weed. The indica/sativa hybrid bud I put in the dehydrator at 130f for a few hours. It is much stronger now too. With a more fuzzy head high. Not at all sleepy. I like this bud twice as much now. I suspect that I will end up liking the dehydrator better than the oven for this. So far so good. I just have to come down so I can try the dehydrated indica. I will also experiment with re-hydrating to proper levels with orange peel or something. I look forward to going back to properly cured bud, but that will have to wait until my next harvest and a long cure. copied and pasted from - http://forum.grassci...ed-smoke-2.html Science of smoking THC - Decaboxylation What is it about about marijuana that makes you high? Most experienced users know that it is in fact THC (Δ9-THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol), but did you know that Cannabis in it’s basic plant form contains very little THC? If you were to take a nice sized nug and swallow it whole (or chew it if you please), it really wouldn’t do much. This is due to the fact that rather than containing tetrahydrocannabinol, fresh Cannabis contains tetrahydrocannabinolic acid. Unfortunately, ingesting that isn’t going to do much. When marijuana is heated, the carboxyl group is converted into water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2). This occurs at 222.8°F (106°C). At this point the Cannabis can be eaten plain and will be fully absorbed by the body. When you smoke marijuana you are essentially rapidly decarboxylating the bud (and then just burning and inhaling all of the carbon in it as well). On a side note, many people advocate decarbing your herb before using it in baked goods. Apparently there’s more THC absorption, but I’m skeptical as to how much it really makes a difference. copied and pasted from - http://420tainment.c...cience-smoking/ Review: Decarboxylation of Cannabis. permalink I've been researching this for a while now as ive been getting damp, crap weed and was looking some way to make it slightly more potent by drying it out - this is where i stumbled upon Decarboxylation. I've read on a few forums about people doing this to activate inactive THC so i thought id give it a go. (Info i used was from here: Robert A. Nelson: Hemp Husbandry ~ Cannabinoid Chemistry (Ch 6)) 1st try: Microwave. Simply droped the bud into a coffee cup and put it in the microwave at 600w for 15 seconds, took it out at 9 seconds because the stem caught fire. Picked the burnt bit off and ground it up using my Pollen-Blitz grinder, First thing i noticed was it ground to almost dust instead of the usual tiny balls of bud. The smoke; Harsher than usual, Really cottonmouthy, More of a instant headstone as i smoked than the Regular un-microwaved cannabis. Good high, Lasting slightly longer - Surprising result. 2nd try: Oven (At 180degrees) Again, dropped the bud onto a piece of tin foil into the oven for 2 minutes, took it out with no burns. The smoke: Not as harsh as the microwaved stuff, but took 12 minutes (10 mins to heat the oven) instead of 9 seconds, so personal preferance - microwave. Not as swift a come up but better then standard weed, good mellow long lasting stone. All in all - Positive results, I'm smoking a regular joint now with untouched weed and i can certainly notice the taste difference and also lesser a stoned feeling from it. My thoughts If youe weed is properly cured and has very little water in it then i wouldn't decarboxylize it. You have spent a long time getting to that lovely stage, bring out the unique flavours and tastes.By carboxylizing cured weed you will mostlikely lose the terpines by heating through evaporation. In the past i have micro waved weed that i have bout due to the fact it had not been thoroughly dried. It certain was more effective at getting me high, so i would say yes it does have an effect. When smoking weed be it in a pipe or a joint the process of burning and the hot smoke/vapor being pulled through the joint will have a caboxylating effect. When making edibles decarboxylation is much more effective way of using your weed. The tree articles/posts above as far as i can see are to the most part anecdotal (the personal expiriences of the users) so I am not able to verify the validity of there statements.I guess you could try a comparrison, break some weed into two eaqual weight pieces, carboxylat one (then re-weigh to see how much water has been lost) and then test each sample. obviously not at the same time. you should be straight (unstoned) each time you test. I hope this helps Dust Peace Lams

2 likesi would also like to add tokeage that i am with you 100% weed can be super cheap to produce when you count gram per $ invested its insane, and the black market has set the price of weed in a way that is just rediculous. when i was in high school, me and my friends all got sick of getting .7's for 10$ so we decided to make a change and we all pooled our money together and grabbed a half pound to start and sold it at 1 gram for 10$ or 2 for 15$. within a month we had the business of pretty much the whole school. then kids from other areas used to travel to our school just to grab. next thing you know everyone is selling 2 for 15$ and grams for 10$ it was pretty sweet we effected the price of weed in our hole neighourhood. pissed off alot of dealers we got set up a couple of times and took a few beat downs but in the end it was worth it. but i totally believe weed should be cheaper to the point where when i grow weed i pretty much give away more then i smoke to neighbour's and friends sick people i have people offer to buy weed from me and i just turn them down but throw them a couple joints. but to me i grow more for a hobby i like to look at the plant learn things about the strains i like to smoke and i dont really invest very much money in my grows the 4 auto bombs i just did costed me only the price of soil and a few containers to grow because i had the lights and got the seeds and nutrients for free and the energy bill is included in my rent. so i keep enough to lighten my wallet until i can have another harvest but other then that i like to share with the community , friends and sick people who are hard up like i am. thats the number 1 reason i want it legalized i dont think criminals should be allowed to exploit this plant and the people who love it any longer i think its discusting how many people profit in the way they do from something that anyone can grow with half a green thumb, an empty closet and a few bucks. seed companies i can understand because breeding is a talent and should be compensated as such. but criinal organizations that control the markets for marijuana just simply because its illegal. i think we as pot smokers need to do something about it like imagen if everyone who smoked weed grew 1 plant continually just one and then harvest and then start another one and then harvest and so on kept half and gave the other half away to other smokers who then did the same the price of weed would go right down. and in canada te penalty for growing one plant is next to a slap on the wrist. this senario isent unrealistic if you really think about it. i wanna actually try to figure out a way to promote small time hobby growing. like work with a small set and and just try to make like a formula for how to get the most bang for your $ out of a small set up, something that could be easyly replicated and make manual for how to do it like a book or video that has everything step by step day by day with all the equipment and techniques written out, i think it would be really cool there isent enough grow videos for small cost effective set ups. im a pot head have been for like 10+ years i've watched all the popular high times grow videos but for some reason i had the idea up until a few months ago that with my budget the only way i could grow was outdoors thinking that indoors costs an arm an a leg.

2 likesi get what your saying but i dont think you quite understand the pricing its not like they are street dealers, it is a business with overhead , employee's to pay they make all there own edibles and employe a Julliard trained chef , there is alot of money involved. they also don't employ or grow any weed. they have a network of growers they buy from so its not up to the store as to what the grower charges. and they still try to get a large amount of affordable strains. as you can see below. all the hashish is import so the price of the hash is fixed its always 15$ a gram and they always have 5 different types. then the legal fee's it is a chain and i dont think there isent one province that isent fighting an on going court case with huge legal fees that has been going on for 10 years. they have 2 store frounts in toronto alone in the city i might add that dont pay for them selfs. and probably about 40 employee's in toronto alone that dont work for free. so your not think about that side of the coin, its not like this organisation is ran through a basement. its also a non profit organization that is gone over with a fine tooth comb because the government is looking for any way to shut them down so im sure if they could afford to sell the weed even cheaper they would. i know the owner of the toronto location and he is in no way a rich man infact the owner spends alot of his time as a bud tender at the downtown store because they can't afford to hire enough tenders. this is just a quick list of some of the strains that are on the menu today that are under 10$ a gram Headband x Sage $9 Grapefruit $8 Skunk #1 $7 (subsidized) Cantaloupe $9 Juicy Fruit $8 Jean Guy $8 Mountain Tops $6 Blueberry $9 M-39 $6 Value Kush $8 Lemon Kush $9 Burmese kush$9 but i do understand where you are coming from tho there are dispensary's in the state's that supply all there own weed and still sell all of there strains at like 12$-15$ a gram and that i feel is wrong. in canada because of the way these dispensaries have to run, they can't just go and get a business lience from the city so inorder to open shop they have to be registered as a Non profit organization. they aren't allowed to grow there own medicine and technically speaking they aren't even legally allowed to sell weed. but the courts havent figured out what to do with these places yet so they allow them to stay in operation in ontario other provinces havent been as lucky . but like they have to run the organization to the letter which means keeping a detailed report of income, what they pay there employee's the overhead at the two location eg scales heat water baggies the food that goes into the edibles the owner is allowed to pay himself a modest salary which he doesent even he barely makes the same pay as a bus driver. and then there is the morgage on the two locations in toronto both locations are right in the city so we are talking million dollar locations. and even still i'd say in toronto its the cheapest thing around maybe there is strains that cost alittle more but they have so many quality cheap strains that it doesent really matter, and i for one dont mind spending a few extra dollars for something special when i have so many cheaper options. also the quality of the 6 dollar weed still beats the quality of any dealer on my street and in toronto the average gram is 10$ so thats almost half price. here is a picture of the 6$ M39

2 likesThe slow process cure is done under a 16-18c if I recall. The refrigerator is way lower then that + the humidity. Not good! If you have a Wine refrigerator, those are PERFECT! The perfect temps for the wine are the same for the buds! If they are drying to fast for you, after hang put them inside paper bags (half full or something close to that) and close the bags, with a few hours a day with them open and shaking a bit the bags so the buds change positions. After a couple more days move the buds to the glass jars, slightly pressing them a bit after jared and for best result keep the jars 2 thirds full and close them, opening several times a day and let them sit open 30 mins during the first week or so then one hour a day, always checking if they become some how moistier then leave it open more time. The thing is that if you find them too dry then you just have to press them in the jars to release some humidity and enclose them next so the moist spreads to all buds, after some time if already nice uniform humidity then give the jars more time opened. Grab them and squeeze the buds very lightly to see the humidity level. I have the same problem as you at this time of the year and it works! After some time is easy to see it. Im nicely stoned so I had to edit this some times to make it somehow clear. Take care and happy smoking!

2 likesDon't forget it is canadian dollars not Euros 1 In Dam you pay 12 to 15 for that quality afghani hash easily ! So if you do the math these prices are quite reasonable. As a reminder back in the late 1970ies this hash in commercial NPL pressed plates - A mixture of afghan 60% 30 % Paki & 10 % Nepal pollen costed DM 7.50 per gram - 600 per 100 gram plate and 5 DM if you bought 1 pound or art least a quarter pound every other week. Okay DM is only 50 cent but remember how much a pack of shag or cigarettes or a bread costed 35 years ago and that was when the borders where wide open and afghanistan was a Hippie mekka with many travellers - same as Kashmir.. So don't get the wrong idea besides 1 gram of that hash will give you 2 or 3 nice buzzes - more than 1 gram of weed definitely - smoking weed is A LOT more costly than smoking hash, unless you smoke big Chillums with 2 grams 5 times per day, like we used to do back then..lol

2 likesDo not use strong tasting oils such as seseme because you will have an overpowering flavour, and you dont want that, you want to taste the flavour of the weed, otherwise its pointless. Its not just about "hey lets make weed food and get stoned" taste the weed guys its amazing!! Cooking with certain flavoursome and perfumed strains such as cheese will be of better flavour benefit, most stoners just cook with weed to get high but i recommended you flavour food with it!!

2 likesYe man! The rule is INFUSION is sooo nice i tend to cook with Hemp oil all the time as my chefs secret ingredient. I would recommend using Hemp oil with cannabis, and hemp seeds. Making roast potatoes with canna hemp oil is heaven!! Im a professional chef and i would definatly recommend using canna butter and oil, hmmm maybe not garlic bread because the garlic just kills it, but oil and butter can be used for anything, if your careful you can fry steak with the oil but dont heat too much! Its always better to rub the oil into meat before you cook, and never ever preheat oil in the pan because the THC will just die! You can use butter for finishing vegetables without heating, or when boiling veg you can make a panache with the water by putting the butter in the water and the butter coats the veg when lifted out with a slotted spoon. Just remember the not above 50°C direct heat rule, and let your imagination run away!!

.. Bueno pues a ello Our British colleagues there and then you'll know if update but I miss here in Spanish for Spanish speakers.

2 likesHey HC, just looking at your plants at Day 20 in comparison to my Autobombs at Day 21, although mine are taller and bigger yours are much more compact and are sprouting at internodes better than mine, my tallest plant is about 17cms and smallest around 12cms. Interesting to see the difference as we're both using soil, 18/6 light cycle, temps and humidity almost the same so must be the lights, will you grow full cycle under same lights or change to bigger more powerful? Although might be something to do with the CO2 I have in my tent, who knows. I took a little lesson from your posts by putting some clay pebbles round the top soil to stop it drying out as quickly. I love your journal it has to be the prettiest set of pictures ever, keep up the good work my friend. Here's a couple of pics for you. Best regards. Toaor

1 likeLoved it very cool, so in a certain way everytime someone cooks cannabis, in butter or anything that needs heats, decarboxylate his weed without really knowing it? ^^ So Could we say it is usefull to decarboxylate the weed before smoking it too? i know it "naturally" does when the heat and smoke passes through the joint, but having the weed already ready and active could perhaps make us win a little more high or longer perhaps? Very nice info once again thanks for sharing man
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
