I started using them a few weeks ago, thanks to Charles Jackson @ SmartPots.com/High Caliper USA. The Smart Pot A New Approach To Container Gardening The patented Smart Pot is for the gardener who wants a container that will grow the best possible plant. It is a new and unique advancement in container technology that is better than any other method of container gardening. It is- Better than Standard Black Plastic Containers Better than Ceramic (Clay) Containers Better than Raised Beds Better than Decorative Containers The patented Smart Pot is a soft-sided, fabric container that has the rigidity to hold its shape and can even support large trees. In fact, the Smart Pot was originally developed for and has been used by commercial tree growers for over twenty years. The Smart Pot is an aeration container. It has a unique ability to air-prune and enhance a plant’s root structure. A highly branched, fibrous root structure is the key to growing a better plant – with more flowers and fruits, and more resistance to insects and diseases. In any container garden, the container you use makes a difference. Find out what size container to use, and how to grow your own tomatoes. Look over our web site. E-mail us questions. Then try the Smart Pot for your Smart Garden. Your plants will thank you. Their root structures will thank you. Aeration is the key. Happy Container Gardening! Why are Smart Pots better for Container Growing? Choosing the best pot for your plants is one of the most important components for successful container gardening. For more then twenty-five years the “Smart Pot†has consistently out performed all other growing containers in both commercial nurseries and university testing. The patented Smart Pot is a soft-sided, aeration container, uniquely designed to improve the root structure of your plants enabling them to grow to their full potential. The comparison below points out the advantages the patented Smart Pot has over various gardening containers. Better than plastic containers - Hard-sided plastic containers are relatively inexpensive but they are not a very good home for a plant’s root structure. Plastic allows no aeration, conducts and holds heat, and provides inadequate or poor drainage. Even on mildly sunny days, container soil temperatures can easily top 120 degrees, damaging or killing the roots and stressing the plant. The #1 killer of potted or container grown plants is over watering and plastic containers with a few bottom drainage holes actually help the soil stay too wet. A Smart Pot is constructed of a porous fabric that allows heat to dissipate and excess water to evaporate. In fact, over-watering is never a problem because excess water drains and evaporates from all of the Smart Pot’s surfaces; its walls as well as its bottom. Because the Smart Pot is a fabric container, giving the root ball total aeration and excellent drainage, you can even use a heavier, less expensive planting mix. The type of mix used in a Smart Pot is less critical then in hard-sided pots. Also, another Smart Pot benefit is root pruning, a technique used by many commercial nurseries to produce masses of highly branched roots to improve plant quality. When a root grows to the side of the Smart Pot, it stops growing in length and develops many, many fine branches. By contrast, the roots in a plastic pot continue to grow in length when they reach the side and circle around the side of the pot. This is undesirable as there are fewer roots and these can grow around each other causing girdling or strangulation. A branched, fibrous root structure (“root prunedâ€) has a far greater root mass than a comparable plant where the roots are circling on the inside of a plastic pot. And a greater root mass will grow a better plant.Better than ceramic and clay pots - Ceramic and clay pots are better for plant growing than plastic pots. They provide somewhat better insulation keeping soil temperatures lower then plastic pots. But ceramic and clay still provide inadequate drainage and do not encourage the best root systems. Both ceramic and clay pots are heavy and can easily break. The Smart Pot is lightweight, inexpensive, doesn’t break if dropped or frozen and can be folded so it stores easily. The Smart Pot also “root prunesâ€. Ceramic and clay do not. Better than raised beds - Raised beds are a great way to garden because they provide good drainage and cooler soil temperatures. Roots grow naturally and have virtually all the room they need. But raised beds can be expensive, require labor to install and are stationary. Smart Pot’s are available in a variety of sizes and also provide an ideal growing environment. The larger size Smart Pots can grow all the plants found in raised beds, i.e. potatoes, watermelons, roses, trees, etc. Roots grow naturally, like they do in a raised bed. But the Smart Pot is a total growing unit, construction materials don’t have to be purchased, no installation or building is necessary, and are much less expensive. Smart Pots can also be moved to different locations unlike stationary, raised beds. The Smart Pot is made of inert fabric and is completely safe for edible plants, while raised beds are sometimes made of treated lumber that may contain toxic chemicals. Better than decorative containers - Decorative containers are just that – decorative. They are manufactured to look good and are not designed for optimum plant growth. The Smart Pot is designed to promote the best plant growth. It aerates, encourages masses of roots and prevents heat damage. Many customers grow in Smart Pots, then place their plant into a decorative container. Learn more about the advantages of Smart Pots vs. conventional containers. http://www.smartpots.com/ Also, SmartPots are reusable and can be machine washed and used again "with about 5 years of life or more. They are easily cleaned in a washing machine. Just let the bag dry and brush out as much of the roots and medium as you can. People sterilize with oxy clean or peroxide or even bleach." Thanks again, Charles. Romeu. Take care

Here we go guys.... finally, and out of the blue, a new LIVE THREAD begins. Arjan, Olaf and myself arrived in Canada with a KLM flight 12 hours ago. We met on the early hours of wednesday at Schiphol Airport, got some breakfast and boarded the plane. The almost 8 hours daytime flight went smooth, with no delays. But by the time we landed I was craving a smoke. Real bad. Lucky for us clearing customs was fast and easy, and in no time we were in a taxi direction downtown Toronto. The sky deep blue, full sun, and a mild temperature around 24 degrees made our adjusting to the jetlag a lot easier. After checking in and leaving our stuff in our rooms we went for a triple-A Alberta beef burger, really tasty, and then we grabbed a cab to go to the recently opened but already famous Vape On The Lake, the first official Vapor-Lounge in Canada. Our friend Marco Renda, organizer of the Treating Yourself Expo, welcomed us in the Vapor-Lounge with plenty of drinks and of course plenty of local high-grade strains brought by licensed medical growers. Canada is known for the quality of its bud, but here we are talking prime-time weed. Top of the game. In no-time we are stoned, and the airplane ride seems really far away already. Things get hazy from there on. It's now past 11pm local time, and past 5am tomorrow morning for my biological-stoned clock, so I figure I'll upload some pics and pass out. I am loving Canada. Every minute of it, and every toke. Tomorrow it's time to build the stand for the expo. PS: sorry for the poor quality of the pics. I am NOT MrX. It's clear, I should stick to the plants. LOL PPSS: all pics made with iPhone

Greatings old chaps, jolly nice weather I say... Seriously, Im coming down with a heavy batch of f-n English flue.... Anyway, update time. Day 49 bloom 20. Flush: Ec 1,2 , PH 6.3 Mary-Lou: 56cm tall Dolly: 53cm tall temp: day:25-28*C night:21-22*C humidity: day:50-55% night:60-65% I really love my ladies, Mary-Lou has developed flowers and look superhealthy. Dolly has just reached bloom and little hairs are sprouting. I´ve come to a dicission to hold Ec at a max of 2,1, they seem to like it and i don´t wanna push it to far. Succesfull flush today with aprox. 30litres / plant, EC1,2 PH6,3. Today when i reattached the airdome tube I cranked the pump up to a maximum for about 30 min, purely out of curiousity...( maybe just a little bit to flush out any water left from the flush in the tubes), They were also sprayed with plenty of PH6,3 carbonated water. Right now everything is in the pipe..... pipe, haha:D I reacon to feed them tomorrow night or monday morning, the airdomes make them dry up a little faster. enjoy the pics.

Hi guys Today is DAY 66 for the older. the T° is 26-27° for a 50% HR The girls are doing very fine, the older older, has been harvested 2 week ago more or less. With a Weight of 15g dry. That's what i expected from her, just as a reminder she was a weird pheno since little baby, with leaves malformation everywhere but i decided to keep her in case ^^ And MAN i did write. The taste is already very nice, very diferent from the first AB i harvested, this one is more similar to Dinafem's moby Dick i'd say, a fresh pine tree taste, hard to describe, i'll do a proper report when she'll be a little cured. Other girls are doing wonderful too, the older at DAY 66 will be cut in 1 week or 2, she is BEAUTIFUL! this is from far my favorite AB so far, and the perfect one if you ask me ^^ but i'll see how the taste is to call her perfect The younger one at DAY 53 i think, is doing fine too ( it was the biiiiig pheno that i had to extrem bend ^^) the buds are developping nicely, some nice trichomes, a nice classical AB smell. nothing to reproach ^^ Enough talking here are the pics. First the cutted one, she is skinny ^^ once hanging, she stayed a little more than a week like that. on the table with my new scissors ^^ Now the Older girl that will be harvested in 1 or 2 week. Isn't She cute? Love that pic!! The younger one at DAY 53 from seed, see the bended top is doing very fine And you've nver seen her so it's an exclusivity on this report ^^ but she was there too growing all the time, and as i used powder feeding i'm showing you the results too as she will be cutted in 1 week too i think. The Apollo Jack, looking wonderful!! And one of my favorite smoke too, lovely called "the poison" by me and my friends for a lovely undescriptable taste ^^ That's it for today Tchoussss

Hey Hunters, here a report from my this years Auto Experiment on the balcony. First a few facts: the following taken from the original description from Barneys : ########################################################################################## http://barneysfarm.com/?l=en&i=15 (Auto) Pineapple Express Auto flowering indica Like the original Pineapple Chunk, Its single, firm cola is flecked with gold and reddish brown, but the very visible THC crystals are clearly the result of contemporary breeding and selection. The aromas right off the buds are sweet, and once lit, the intense fruit cocktail of flavors pack a strong sensation on the tongue that really lingers. Close your eyes and you’ll find yourself on a tropical beach in Hawaii: Pineapple Express grows small (40 to 50cm) - is indica dominant, offering a long lasting high that balances upbeat effects with body-relaxing, stress reducing calmness. The results will reflect its exotic genetic origins and the rigorous selection process that made this advanced strain possible. information type: Indica yield: 15-25gr height: 50cm flower time: 65-75 days from seed harvest time: auto flowering thc: 12-15% cbd: high genetics: ruderalis/skunk#1/cheese ################################################################################################ I started germination on 1st of may in paper towels. then the seed was put in a 2L bucket for a week and then transfered into a 12L Pot with 80% Composana and 20% Compost. The first 10- 15 cm took 4 weeks but the temperatures where also very low the most times, at 14°C nothing happens. But after that time the first flowers showed... Flowering started on 4.6. and in the last 14 days she stretched really and grows 2-3cm each day. The first feeding with Hesi bloom was also on 4.6. with 0.8 mS. 4 days after she got another 0.9 mS and today i feeded her 1.2 mS. She seems to need it and the folowing days may be blessed with sun;) We are on Day 45 now. She is 37cm high an 32 wide. 6 Nodes. On day 16 i'll flush her GHS Method with 1.3 mS and let her dry out. I also try this the first time.. Lets see what i can get out of this baby!

The US has always cast its Drug War shadow over the rest of the globe, often strong arming nations into participation. That shadow is now shrinking. It’s been a turbulent few years for the USA. From its persistent wars on some or other nation to the Occupy Wall Street movement, there is a lot of unrest at the moment. It’s getting pretty oppressive for folks in the US with laws such as the National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA), which makes a mockery of their Bill of Rights, and the pending Drug Trafficking Safe Harbor Elimination Act of 2011, which would mean that US citizens who have a joint in Amsterdam or even plan to have a joint in Amsterdam could be prosecuted for this in the US. Heavy shit. This is once again at odds with what the people of the US want. The various successes of polls and initiatives of 2011 are well behind us, but there are loads more on the cards. Some states are attempting to move past their existing policies of medicinal marijuana and are taking a shot at decriminalizing or legalising the herb for recreational use. Last week, New York gov. Cuomo announced his proposal to decriminilize. Colorado, specifically, will see voters take to the polls in November 2012, with marijuana legalization being on the ballot. This is a second swing at legalising marijuana in Colorado and effectively ending its prohibition in the state. I’m feeling optimistic as all the numbers tell us that public support for marijuana in the US is on the increase and is starting to tip the scale. Connecticut has recently become the 17th state to permit the use of medical marijuana, testament to the change in public opinion. DREW BROWN, A VICE PRESIDENT AT ABUNDANT HEALING STORE (LEFT), HANDS OVER A CHECK TO ONE OF HIS MARIJUANA SUPPLIERS ON APRIL 19, 2010 IN FORT COLLINS, COLORADO. ABUNDANT HEALING IS ONE OF COLORADO'S MANY LEGAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES, WHICH SELLS MARIJUANA TO CUSTOMERS WITH A STATE-ISSUED MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARD. (CHRIS HONDROS/GETTY IMAGES) There are various similar and not so similar initiatives across the rest of the US, but there is still fierce opposition from Federal authorities as they increasingly exert their force on individual states for allowing medical marijuana use to sprout across the country. Innocent bystanders are being killed, legitimate businesses forcefully closed and all round examples being made of those who will not comply with a Federal umbrella law that is at severe odds with the laws of their respective states; marijuana laws that the people have chosen by themselves, for themselves. A shocking realisation of this conflict and lack of logic between Federal and State priorities has been the shooting and killing of at least 7 people at an Oakland Christian school, while simultaneously in the same area a horde of armed Federal law enforcement resources raided Oaksterdam University (a school for growing cannabis). A truly sad and scary example of what happens when the Feds are more concerned with watching the grass grow than putting out the kitchen fire. The fallout of the US’s War on Drugs has not been limited to within its own borders and is now starting to feel the backlash of pushing its policies onto other countries, as these countries are starting to stand and assert their rights. Many of the current appeals by world leaders to end the War on Drugs typically have the words “Former†in front of whatever title they once held. The significant report by The Global Commission on Drug Policy is a great example of this. Of the 19 people on this commission, 11 of them are “Former†political leaders. The rest consist of writers, businessmen and one active Prime Minister. This highlights the lack of current leadership willingly to publicly acknowledge a truth they all know, “The War on Drugs has been a failure from inceptionâ€. Fortunately, fresh ground is being broken as current political leaders are starting to address this subjective war. THE GLOBAL COMMISSION ON DRUG POLICY (GCDP) IS A PANEL OF 19 WORLD LEADERS INCLUDING RICHARD BRANSON (VIRGIN), KOFI ANNAN (FORMER SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS), AS WELL AS AN ARRAY OF OTHER WORLD LEADERS AND FORMER PRESIDENTS WHO AIM TO END THE GLOBAL WAR ON DRUGS. South America has long been the US drug consumers’ bitch. Every year thousands upon thousands of South Americans die in drug related violence. It’s either a case of them offing each other for territory and trade routes or the authorities offing them. This has come at a crippling cost to many South American countries, both financially and emotionally as loved ones are dropping like flies while they try to eke out a living in the chaos of an unregulated industry. All of this while trying to meet the US’s insatiable appetite for drugs. The strong arm tactics of the US are especially evident in South America as many leaders are no longer willing to agree with big brother up north. You can’t keep a good man down though, and there are now active presidents banding together to “Just say no!†to The War on Drugs. A SOLDIER STANDS OVER AN ALTAR IN A CAMP USED BY MARIJUANA GROWERS DURING A MARIJUANA DESTRUCTION OPERATION IN THE SIERRA DE JUAREZ IN ENSENADA, MEXICO ON THURSDAY SEPT. 30, 2010. ACCORDING TO ARMY GEN. ALFONSO DUARTE MUJICA, SOLDIERS DESTROYED 180 ACRES OF MARIJUANA IN THE NORTHERN REGION OF MEXICO'S BAJA CALIFORNIA PENINSULA IN 2010. (AP PHOTO/GUILLERMO ARIAS) Barack Obama is a classic example of US politicians playing it cool on the election campaign by publicising their drug use and views in favour of more tolerant drug policies, but then doing an about turn faster than a rattlesnake on crack when they are elected to office. The US is full of contradictions at the moment as Government authorities blatantly refuse to acknowledgetheir failings, whilst numerous sectors inside and outside of the country cry for freedom, more so regarding marijuana than anything else. Holy shit, even US televangelist Pat Robertson is supporting the end of marijuana prohibition. That’s like Archbishop Tutu saying “Hey, it’s okay to smoke grass. Let’s stop sending people to the chooks for itâ€. Day in and day out the Feds get more desperate in their attempts to cull cannabis and its use. Thing is though, no one likes a bully. The generation of “Just say no†kids has grown up and wiped the shit from its eyes. Firsthand experience trumps propaganda every time and we have millions of tons of firsthand experience. I smell an intervention on the wind… Let’s hope it’s met with remorse and a change in attitude, instead of more bullets and handcuffs. http://www.belowthelion.co.za/americas-drug-war-shadow-is-shrinking/

Here are images as promised.... Here is the Shot Adrenaline that is starting to pick up some momentum. I actually came across a bottle of Floralicious Plus that was in with the rest of my nutes, that i decided to include in the feeding. I didnt use it very much before when doing aero (gummed up my spray heads). I did use it in my DWC buckets though with good results. Hoping the humic and fulvic will help out with the coco. I know it is a good breeding grounds for beneficials. The mycorrhiza seems to be thriving. And here is the little sick one....

Since it is the weekend I had to put the girls outside for proper feeding + ventilation. At that late stage the room gets sweaty - The White Widow and Jack Herer are not that far from finishing it seems, maybe I will reap the WW before the JACK- Just look at that huge amount of white lovely buds on the JACK !!! WOW, that gonna be a lot of High Grade weed , no doubt. The WW has less but harder sweeter and more perfume-like sticky flowers - incredible - just wished it was a bit more - The topping was good for the JACK + the HG but not so good for the WW. The FIM worked wondes on the BIG BANG, another massive yielder 2 or 3 weeks later..

There were a lot of members growing AUTO BOMB . everybody loved it so far. Me too expect 20 to 45 grams per plant. They take nutes quite well. Just be careful with lights once the huge main colas start to get really massive. Wonderful aroma/taste 6 smell- very relaxing high - not too strong, neither weak. A perfect strain if you ask me. Takes only from 6 to 7 weeks under hps lights in flower, don't wait too long, it does NOT get better once it is ripe and depending on the pheno that might be after good 5 weeks or after 7 weeks. Good luck. Tokage,. nice roots top job as far as transplanting goes ! Peace + Grow BAM

99 cm from soil to biggest cola plus 30 cm pot makes her look huge. Planted same day as the AUTO BOMB. March 5th or so but started with only 85 watt dual cfl. added a MH 400 dual spectrum watt in april. Changed to HPS BLOOM in May. My first order ever was a batch of 3 AB + 3 JACK HERER. Sadly there were only 1 survivor each. Since I did not check for the first appearance of pre-flowers I cannot say EXACTLY how long she is in flower but I count from may 1st - 46 days , first time I saw flowers and smelled the JACK was first sunday in may... Just received the next generation of seeds. 4 C 99 and 1 Black Sugar seed as a gift from FEM-TECH Doorrdrecht aka female seeds ! Will start a new grow journal for that one.. The 3 other girls are from the second batch - I ordered the INDICA MIX E 3 weeks later when I noticed that I had so many losses., but the Cheese + EL NINO did not make it..these survivors started flowering not much later than the JACK-5 to 10 days maximum later. PEACE ONE Bam

I know you get good results with classical music, divrebbe be pretty good vibes for your plant. I undertook an experiment done by a Japanese, where practically subjected to a test, 3 grains of rice submerged in 3 different containers filled with water. At the first grain of rice, saying words of hatred and contempt, and a grain of rice has been rotted. The second grain of rice, said nothing, and a grain of rice has remained in good condition. The third said words of affection and love, and a grain of rice was kept in good condition and had doubled its size. This source was suggested by a friend of mine, the video is on youtub, if I can find the link I put.

Hey Dust, Can't tell whether nutrient sticks have done much as they are below surface of soil so can't see if they've dissolved but looking at a few of the plants the leaves look like they could have a bit of nutrient burn so maybe, I put another 3 around each plant last night. They've at least doubled or trebled in height since last visit 21 days ago biggest problem has been lack of sunshine, too much cloudy skies or just raining but Ice Dreams aren't ready till end of September outdoors so there's still months to go yet and they have plenty of time to get bigger and no matter what size they are now they'll double or treble in flowering, which they won't even start till around end of July so have at least 6 more weeks of vegging. I really don't think the soil in my spot is very good, I think it's not deep enough, is laid over stones or is so compacted that roots have problem digging in and down deep, need to find myself some new spots for the three Big Bangs I have in greenhouse that I want to get out soon. All the best mate Toaor

We will see what happens here. I will wait another 4-5 days until I make a decision on whether or not to get rid of it. It will be to the point that its not worth saving then. Its only supposed to be 7-8wks from seed for harvest. Thanks brother, I think that you might actually be on to something with the genetic flaws. I had 4 of these seeds and they it took 5 days for this one to crack. That was after scuffing the shells, pre-soaking, and then paper towel. I usually have about a 80% or better germination rate. I have actually seen alot of bad reviews recently for the place that I bought them (not Joint Doctor, the vendor). I used to buy a 10-12 seeds every 3-4 months before with no issues. I almost think that with the amount of issues that people are having, that they are growing seed crops and selling them as authentic. The amount of orginal packaging that is included with the seeds is inconsistent with what the breeder distributes. That is how it goes when you are at the mercy of people to be honest and give you what you paid for. I don't harbor any resentment, I will just advise people on the forums to not use them anymore if I determine that it is counterfeit or compromised seed stock. I plan to order from them one more time to see if it is the case before putting it out there. I don't want to be the guy that fires up the rumor mill without anything to substantiate it. Unfortunately to get seeds I have to have them imported and there are not too many reputable seed banks that ship to the US. I really liked this place so I am hoping that it works out on the next order. I was trying to engineer an auto strain for personal use that is suited to my preferences, and selectively breeding the Diesel Ryder and Shot Adrenaline =). Additionally, I loaded this one up with some humic and fulvic acid to try to give it a jumpstart in a last attempt, find out in a few days if it works. Here is a quick image that I took about an hour ago. There has only beed about .5cm of vertical growth since yesterday, but no other leaf sets:

It is sad cause at same time it is one of the country that is going the faster on the medical use of marijuana, and it has so much potency And that law you talk about about smoking a spliff in amsterdam and getting trouble ( more or less) man that is another crazy thing! Does a thing like this could stand a chance to really pass? or is it just one of another proposition that will never end? Anyway thanks for sharing

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
