3 likesHey thought I would find a new home to document my new grow. First time with DWC or any form of hydroponics. I have a few years experience growing cannabis so I am not a total newbie. My setup: 250Watt HPS DRS60 Tent (60x60x140) 20litre DWC Bucket Small Haelia Air Pump & Airstone 4inch Fan & Filter Small Tower Fan Advanced Nutrients Micro, Grow, Bloom Day 15 Veg Currently feeding 1/4 strength nutrients. Battling to keep water temps in an acceptable range. Temps are fluctuating between 21-25. I have included an quick pic sorry about the HPS, I will try for some better pics once things get more interesting. Would be great if anybody could help identify what pheno traits it might leaning towards. I am saying more lemon skunk because of the wider leaf shape. Thanks for looking RD

3 likesMarch 1 2015 low temps mid 30's for about another week....warmest feb on record here so i got a shit load of march prep work done not only with my cannabis but some fruit and veg farming i am doing to try and pay my electric bill this year. I quit my career of 24 years to farm and advocate cannabis legalization, patient rights and our individual right to choose, my grow is doing good but my advocating has some holes.....i mean shit it is a plant and we need so much more than we could grow in 5 years much less restrict to indoor under lights ....hemp farming is picking up steam too....big oil & big pharma make room...just a couple of pics: the cinex is going to be a good strain to grow here. Peace

2 likesAhoya all Here in Cape Town I am very blessed with lots of Kelp laying around on the beaches. Unfortunately getting it is almost like growing ganja. Its not illegal , but you do need a permit to collect. I find this utterly unfair seeing that when you take a drive along our coastline the kelp is layning EVERYWHERE !!! We once got pulled over by the police and they were quite upset with us and we got away with a warning. We thought we were being pulled over due to the joint we were smoking LoL. But that did not stop us from collecting more at a different location. So after chopping it up and adding it to a compost heap ( great activator ) I decided to take a bag and fill it with leftover pieces. I filled a 25L bucket with water and added the bag of kelp. Its been a week now and things are looking good. I stir the water every other day and the color is turning slowly to a darker brown/orange. I will be keeping it this way for at least another 3 weeks and then I will be testing it. The tester plant will be bagseed Swazi cause I don't feel like losing mybother ladies due to a fuck up. If anyone has any tips or advice it will be appreciated. I'm just following advice from the web and common sense. I haven't added airration to the setup cause I only have 1 and its being used in my diy bubbler setup. So yeah that's my little experiment that I'm working in for free fertilizer. Next up I'm doing a compost tea. Got some crazy good Organic compost and I read a great article on High Times about compost teas . The reason I'm trying this is because I am tired of paying for something that I can make myself. Love and Light Pete

2 likesQuick update. Everything seems good so far. New roots are nice and white now I have my temps a bit closer to 19c. Just ordered a little h2o2 to clean up the old browner roots. Still feeding at 1/4 strength nutes. Noticed a calcium deficiency so added some calcium and Epsom salts. I also pinched out the growing tip. As I am growing one plant I need get this baby as bushy as possible using LST and FIM/Topping. Also have to watch out for the limited head space I have. Should be fine if I careful and clever with the bending. A new quick snap at day 17, enjoy!! RD

1 likeHi bro, really interesting to see how this work out. The only advise I can tell you because I lived by the sea for many years. Everything you want to use for compost or tea that you picked up at the beach or sea or close area, it has to be really good rinsed with sweet water. Otherwise you could end putting a lot of salt ( sodium ) in the tea or the compost pile, and salt it could be really bad for our ladies. Take care.

1 likeWell it will be interesting to see how your tes work! Make sure to keep us updated about it And yeah it is fucked up that we can not have free access to what our earth gives us, but well i guess some people would abuse of it if it wasnt like this? Anyway have a good grow with those tea

1 likedont use 99% because its iso. use ethanol or grain alcohol aka spiritus. 96% is the best for winterizing / dewaxing. you dont need a vac chamber if you do it with a second solvent just low heat but takes ages good thing is, no butane is left because it is gone before freezing.

1 likeAhoya Today marks 5 weeks of flowering. The buds has changed slightly and as you can see the leaves has changed as well. They are going more yellow and I guess that's fine ??? Things is a bit windy here by us and the stem at soil level started to tear due to all the wind. I'm gonna have my hands full with this one I think. If the wind keeps up I will have to move her under the 250W. I'm just scared that one day I'll get home and part of the plant is ripped off. That will be disasterous. Apart from that, do youbthink the haze is still on good track ??? Love and Light Pete

1 likeAhoya and good morning to all Dust, as requested I have taken some extra pics just now. I have cleaned her up quite a bit for 2 reasons. 1- To send all energy to the tops 2- I have / had some pest problems I might have done the training in wrong way because its a small amount of branches for all those tops. If it becomes a problem later , weight wise, then I will get some dowles and tie her up. I would have loved to let her just grow tall but unfortunately the neighbours will share their find with the police. If my cuttings take then I want to scrog her next season. Yesterday was quite a hot day and when I got home she was droopy. I have also started with molasses feeding with every other feeding. Love and Light Pete

1 likeThe Pictures from the one flowering are the Sweet Mango which yielded almost 100g/3.5oz She grew under LED's when she stopped vertical growth. before that a 150 watt cfl + 45 watt cfl. (changed lights quite often during my grow) the other ones are Massive Buds I will be LST'ing the WWAs too, I like to go hardcore on the LST'ing but I have to think about how I'll do that with the smartpots

1 likethanks guys, the tomatoe strain its Rio Grande, for sauce.

1 likeThank you. I am very happy. The grow went almost 100%. I think I could have give 1,5L instead of 1L. The pot was big enough. Anyways the smell is very fruity and skunky. I really am a fan of orange bud and I have some live resin here from just leaves and it has the typical skunk funk. I missed that so much. The stone is very clean and just enough. Orange bud is not a strong bud so is the snowstorm #2. Very nice to dab over the day. The Kings Kush for example is a beast. It sends you to sleep if you are too tired before the dab I like strong kushes on sunday mornings. The grape taste is unforgettable. Defo has become one of my favorite strains. The snowstorm can compete with a feminized but remember, its not as strong as others. I love it, it keeps me active and not waste me over the day. pics to come

1 likeHey Dust I will take some pics tomorrow. The ones I have is a tad bit to large for uploading. Love and Light Pete
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
