hi im just going to hand water for now.if the cab was bigger i would probably flood them but as were going 12/12 from seed im just going to let nature do its thing in its own time.i believe they will take off and out fill the cab within 6-8 weeks.then they will have stopped the stretch by then and start filling up.ready for landing.really hoping this co2 boost can do good things.the cabs quite hot so the co2 has got to work otherwise im going to have do my usual fan in fan out control.im intrigued to find out if the manual humidifier works.but them fish tank tubes with the holes in were a good find.helps distribute the co2 evenly.time will tell.lol im learning and experimenting as i go along.

update. its been a quiet weekend so far but heres a couple more pics to mull over.co2 boost bucket arrived and a few beans surfaced.i got some tubing from the pet shop with holes in and cut the boost pipe and attached it so theres a good spread of co2.also i cut a small hole behind the circulating fan to let some air in just to cool the cab a little.its was 100f near the light but 85 down by the seeds.im hoping the co2 wont escape through the big hole i cut behind fan,but figured that it will only suck air in.shouldnt matter when the lights are off.hopefully the bit of air will do them a little good.gonna attach the humifier tomorrow.

things are starting to catch up with me guys.i got a nice surprise this morning.6 beans have popped up and are seeking pastures new.these are the swiss cheese.48 hours and up.more to come so ive put them under the cfls.8 till 8.12/12 from the off.enjoy.although not much to report.lol will be ok for a day or 2 until i get a fan in there and the co2 boost bucket arrives.after a few days i will start up one of the 250 hps.

nice positive reactions from you guys.yeh i was thinking the k&n filter might work with an odour sock but have you seen the price of those things.i reckon if i buy one sock i might be able to chop it into 2.wrap it round with a couple of big clips.time will tell.as for the humidity filter i dont mind emptying it every couple of days and have the humidistat as backup.i had to send back the co2 monitor today so the guy can set it up for me.im useless at instructions but i also think there was a fault with it as i couldnt get the lcd display to work properly.just waiting on another pc fan for air movement.i reckon i will have the finished cab by saturday.bloody hope so lol.then some beans i got today only had 8 seeds instead of ten so i contacted the supplier.its never happened before so hopeully they might sort something out.i hate complaining but i did order ten.ive thrown down 28 beans so far and one has curled up on itself so i binned it.i will choose my best ones for the cab within about 4 days of popping. once again thanks for dropping by.i feel your all here with me from the begining which is reasurring.have a nice evening guys and girls...

i found this today.has a capacity of over a litre and uses a neutralizing tablet and absorber.may be ok for the short term.say it elimates smell too.
-
theres a couple mil gap at each end of the glass lids where they have a slight curve, enough to pull the air up from the cab and enough not to create a vacume.hopefully not too much so that it pulls all the co2 out too.with the extra fan thats gonna be installed to the humidistat im hoping thats enough.the co2 bucket doesnt really run on ppm but is directed by the air fans over the plants and is on a timer with the light.im hoping i dont need air intake as the co2 provides the oxygen the plants need.im trying to create a semi closed enviroment.the humidistat fan will have a k&n air filter attached with an odour sock wrapped around it for the smell.more should become clear in the next few days.thanks for dropping by guys/girls.all the advised is much appreciated.

those lamps are just cheap industrial lamps that had the ballast built into the top.i just unscrewed them and extended the wires.i can make the wire/cable long enough to take out of both rooms and sit in the hall way.it takes any unwanted heat away which is the whole point of going stealth i guess.if i come into some cash down the line im going to invest in the budbooster led.theyve come along way since i tried them a few years back..

i mean the foil is resistent to 1.4kw.
-
oh ive decided im gonna make some jackets for the lamps to cut down more heat in the outer room with the spare foil i got left and line the outer room then pack it with fire retardent foam i got gifted from a mates caravan.should be able to squeeze that between the cab and the walls.the heat jackets are a new idea i seen.just like lagging a boiler.they are heat resistent to 1.4killowatts so im sure that will suffice.all will unfold as i get my arse into gear.if i rush things i tend to make a right balls up of things.hope your all enjoying my mission guys.i like to save as much cash as possible so i hope it gives someone some inspiration somewhere.once this is setup it shouldnt be draining me of money except for the co2 boost bucket every crop.

the intake will be a co2 tube.im going with a closed enviroment so i will attach a small outlet fan connected to a humidistat.theres no heat build up even with the cab closed so im hoping the co2 boost bucket will give me at least 1500ppm.i will have the co2 meter by tomorrow .i will use a small 2.5 inch pc fan with backdraft flap connected to the humistat and cut a hole for that over the next week or so.im going to run the co2 tube across the cab 2 times in between the rows of pots about 6 inch and then have a couple of pc fans run the co2 around the cab..i will make a small pin hole along the tube above each pot.

if i need more height when it late flowering i should be able to drop the bottom.was thinking if this goes ok i might upgrade to a budbooster 380watt led.ive seen some badass bud pulled from them lights.co2 boost bucket should arrive tomorrow.

just a quick update guys on the cab.im adding some pics and should be finished in a few days.got 15 beans in the ground as we speak.

thanks for the encouragement my friend. ive pondered on a idea i had in the past and im convinced the way to go for me is a closed enviroment.im going to totally seal the cab and only install a very small pc fan coupled to a humidistat.using a co2 boost bucket with the pipe threaded through a hole in the side and placing the glass covers over my light units sealing up any gaps.the exhaust fans you see in the pics are there to simply take away the heat from the lamps.i will post some pics of the final setup tomorrow but in the meantime if anyone out there can direct me to a one way vent which closes when the humidity exhaust fan is idle i would very much appreciate it.ive heard great things about the boost bucket and in a area like mine would be able to achieve around 1500 ppm quite easily.i will know better once i recieve my co2 monitor.im aware that theres 2 settings on the boost pump so i could reduce or increase depending on what the co2 monitor tells me.im pretty sure the temps are gonna be under 85f which would be ideal.75 to 80 even better.my fan speed controllers on each light unit are almost silent at full power.i have a six inch oscilating fan too to move the air around the growroom.in the past ive always used air in and out controlled by a temperature probe.however im trying to get the maximum yields in the smallest space using less electric etc.fingers crossed it will be safer than my previous grows but equally as productive with less overheads.in the long run.

well the plan is guys to start 12/12 and try keep em low.ive done a few runs now from 12/12 and never really reached above 35 inches and that was the tallest which was bubbleliscious.i keep them within an inch of the daylight tubes as soon as they pop above the surface.i also use rockwool from the start which seems to help too.i use formulex without any ph adjustment (it does the adjustment automatically)straight from the tap after sitting for a day.im in the process of buying a serious bit of kit to give me full control of ph and ive got a co2 monitor on its way.with having the fans built into the lamp housings im able to draw nearly all the heat out of the cab.thats why im thinking of using co2 boost buckets as its not too much outlay.im told and read that they dont overdose the growroom and reach dangerous high levels.the monitor will give me a good idea then i can hopeully dial in to a good level.also if im using the glass lids that go on the lamp housings and the oscilating fan im hoping the small vent between the glass and lamp housing will allow the co2 to dissapear alot slower than having in/out fans.(does that make sense)? kind of passive like.the heat isnt an issue but id be more worried about the humidity so might install a seperate outlet connected to a humidity stat.all will become clear in the near future hopefully.at worst i can get a temp probe and connect that to the fan too.but im pretty sure things are gonna work out fine.pots are on there way too.ive chosen deep pots and my rockwool cubes are 4 inch which gives me about 18-21 days of good root developement before the change over to the deep pots and lightmix.check out these cubes which keep the nats away.im usually quite clean so dont suffer too many invaders. now just to get the workmen out of the way and throw down the beans.its gonna be quite a ride but im topping out around 11 weeks from seed and can always pull a bud or two at around 9 weeks.especially with the co2 saving a little time. hope you all have a good night guys.its now 2 straight months since my last bud so a trip to the dam is on the cards.so gutted to miss queens day today.oh well im sure the wait will be worth it in the end. peace brothers and sisters and thanks again for dropping by.

thanks for the kind comments guys.not much going on today.had the plumber round and tomorrow got the gas fitter round so ive only been down to the diy store to pick up a few more supplies.im so looking forward to getting started.heres a few more bits and bobs for the cab.peacefull evening to you all.im taking notes as i go along guys and your advice is truly treasured.
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
