Just out of curiosity. Are most of the Greenhouse grow videos done using hydro or soil? Important disctinction because the recommended pH and EC are dependent on the grow medium. Anybody know of a good in-depth resource for flushing plants grown in a soil medium?
-
I like the concept of combining a vaporizer with a bong- the best of both worlds. Must get a very smooth delivery every time???
-
That is absolutely beautiful!!! I certainly would be interested in an expedition here!!! Hell, I wouldn't mind goin' there! Probably not American friendly???

I'd like to see the the TRUE and legendary "Lamb's Bread" from Jamaica brought back into cultivation reality... From what I hear, much of Jamaica's genetics have been grown or crossed with modern cultivars and the famed "Lamb's Bread" is difficult or impossible to come by. I know there is a "Lamb's Bread" available in some of California's dispensaries, but I truly doubt its "true" Lamb's Bread of famed status with Rastarfarians, in particular Bob Marley. The commercial success would be absofuckin' phenomenal in my opinion. Definitely a sativa... providing an uplifiting, creative and deeply spiritual high. People would go crazy over it. I'd really like to see a Strain Hunter Expedition on it. It would be a gift to the world.

Oh, sorry I forgot... The digital ballast that I have automatically configures to HPS or MH... it also autoconfigures voltage...
-
Hey CC... I just purchased a 1000W digital ballast (not a "brand name")... just some no-name jobby... I got a really good price ($175 plus $25 shipping) on E-Bay... The next best digital ballast price is a Nex-Gen 1000W for $299) For vegetative growth, I'm using 1000W Sunmaster Cool Deluxe MH (enhanced blue light for vegetative growth) and for flowering I'm using 1000W Sunmaster Super HPS Deluxe (150,000 lumens). I'm still constructing my grow room, so I don't have any plants yet, but I tried the digital ballast and its super quiet and super cool and lights the bulbs very quickly and brightly (supposedly up to 30% brighter versus magnetic core ballasts???). Those are some interesting bulbs... do you have a link- I'd like to check out the specs...

Jay- those ladies of yours are looking mighty pretty! Hydro or soil? What kind of nutes?
-
Thanks for the tip CC. BTW- I'm using a single 1000W light (MH for veg and HPS for flowering).

Check out Season 5 episode 6 at around 4:00 into the episode you can clearly see a "Greenhouse Seed Company" Display Case in the background of the scene (inside a compassionate-care medical marijuana clinic). I wonder if Greenhouse Seed Company paid for product placement or if it was just creative liberty on the writer's part? Pretty cool...

I was going to run the intake from "outside" the room (basement-air) to the fan then into the HID-tube, then exit the tube and out of the room: BASEMENT-STANDARD FILTER-INTAKE-DUCT-FAN-HID-DUCT-VENT-BASEMENT. Using CO2 I didn't want to vent inside air out (will be using a carbon-filter for odor reduction, but recirculating the air inside. I was wondering if a 6" vortex would be enough to not only cool the light, but also provide enough "push" to vent the hot air out of the room (it would meet a lot of "resistance" going through the Light-Tube AND 8 or 9 feet of duct work as it exits the light. Been contemplating getting an 8" vortex with a 6" reducer flange to give more flow. What are your thoughts- think its necessary?
-
CC- how close are you able to place the light using the air-cooled tubes? I just purchased a 6" Sun-Tube and will also be air cooling the light. Also where do you have the fan placement? Before or after the light?

That's what I'll do... If I need to, I can elevate the TW's to keep the top of the plants even with the AUH#1's so that they don't get "stuck in the shadows"...
-
Thanks for the tip, Jay. Yeah... maybe strange growing an indica dominant with a sativa at the same time. haha But these were the two strains that "caught my eye". My first grow, so I'll see how it goes. I did a lot of studying and planning and GHSC to me seems like the best genetics out there. I saw on GHSC's Cannabis Cup- prep (YouTube) that Arjan's Ultra Haze #1 was grown in soil like I plan using 20L containers and the plants seemed just a tad over 6ft tall at harvest despite what appeared to be 12 to 18 inch vegetative plants before 12/12 so I guess I wasn't expecting them to get any higher. I guess AUH1 will really outpace TW? I was thinking of doing TW veg for 2wks before starting to veg AUH1. I don't have a veg room and using feminized seeds.

I'm about to start a grow with Arjan's Ultra Haze #1 and Trainwreck. I was going to also add 2 or 3 Hawaiian Snow plants, but don't have enough space for 80 L (21gal) containers. Can I get a fairly decent yield using 5 gal (19L) containers? Or should I grow them at another time using 80L containers? I'm using a single 1000W MH for vegetative and HPS for flowering and using soil and CO2 enrichment. Room is 12' X 12', but grow space will be 5' X 5'.
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
