I have built this system outa lumber screws plastic and sprinkler parts for lawn and garden type out door stuff. ie the thick hard black lawn sprinkler pipe where the pressure is supposed to build as it comes from the 1 inch pvc.... and the nozels that spray the water are just 14foot diamater regular fixed up position sprinkler heads from home depot for a lawn infront or behind a house... the problem Iam having is I figured since everything fit together so damn snugly that I would not have any leaks but as the photo shows I have small drips comming out at every connection point.... any idea's wouuld be wonderfull... I dont have the funds to go buy vinly tubing at the moment to see if that will fix it either... there is alot of stress in the black tube and hence the tie off with hemp string to hold it in shape.... the second photo is of the shear volume differance I will have from switching from a 5x5 inch rail to 5 gallon buckets.... gonna almost b true aero... no dirt no medium what so ever just air and nute solution

just picked up this clone from a co-op down town.(12$ US) name is blue cheese.. supposedly a short stocky tight stinky indica dominant plant... 80/20 or 90/10 indica/sativa at the moment I have it in store bought seed starting dirt with perilite mixed in... I am not a dirt guru by far... I dis-like the stuff no offence to you natural growers.... I am a hydro kinda guy and this little lady will be switched to hydro as soon as it veg's enough to be cloned.... I am afraid the dirt is too muddy or water holding.... was hoping the perilite would help it be more airy and drain faster but all it does is float so I took alot of it out and just left it muddy.... the lighting is at the moment 4 cfl 5000k daylight lamps and 4 65000k natural daylight lamps for more of the correct blue spectrum of light.... I am on a super budget... 12x5000k 24 watt cfl fluro's cost me 26 bucks and someone donated the other 6x6500 cfl bultbs... supposedly this light is super in the spectrum of the plant... time will tell wont u pull up a seat a see? -BlueSkyOlympia

once I chopped off this bud and took a image and zoomed in I could clearly see the tri combs were not even close to peek petency... but amazing build... got tricombs on the sticks lol..
-
considering doing partial harvest.... anyone do this and let the smaller nugs catch up?

If I counted my days rite this is the end of week 5 of flower. Seeing lots of white pistel's turning orange and the tri-combs are changing from clear to white. this plant is something else... looking back through my journal I see she was up to 400ppms and doing ok during veg... but these days even with the flowering mix she seems to claw and show burnt tips even if I go to 200ppms..... anyone ever seen this happen with a plant before? other than showing clawing and burnt leaf tips everything else seems to be going swimmingly! starting to think I mite need to tie her up soon seeing as how my canopy is drooping LOL is not so even anymore! upon closer inspection she is so darn heavy up top a few of the back branches are twisted down to the ground lolol!!! I just propped her up against the wall for the time being.... till I can fandangle some support with string or something....

No I do not have the ability to grow such plants as a pure sativa... and the way my local laws are changing by the day I dont think anytime soon I will be able to grow a monster plant like a sativa outdoors anytime in the future.... I like the look, its just really really different than what I am used to seeing around here.

yo nicc1976 from what I was told this is a barneys farm blue cheese if there is such a thing... I never really checked into it to b honest.... from my exp if u feed her to much she will claw really bad. under super light feeding she seems to thrive for the most part.... I just don't think this strain likes bubble buckets.
-
Thanks Jose! I am really interested in seeing how thick these flowers get also... can hardly wait to see how they ripen~!~! Thank you Reaf! I agree with you... I gotta say I am hard pressed to find any good CFL grows on google.com.... I am beyond surprised how well they do grow plants man~!~!~!

Baby Blue Cheese is not a baby anymore... seems like every time I turn around her water bucket is half empty! The Flowers are really starting to build up nicely as well! I did turn her nutes up a bit more than normal this last feeding and I think I mite have burned her lightly... there are some brown tips on the leaves but this time around she did not curl at all or wilt from the food... she is defiantly a tender strain and I don't think she enjoys the bubble bucket... keeping ph at 6.5 and ppms 225-250

Thank you all ahead of time for any input what so ever positive or negative! I am on a quest to push my cannabis growing capacity's to the edge with semi modern science but I am stuck! I built the cycle timer close as I could to 50 seconds on and 60 off with a Walmart timer and some superglue and a file... I would prefer being able to dial it down to 20 on 50 off or any other combos but I gotta work with limited funds. =P which makes it that much more fun when you succeed!! Got the 1053 GPH pump from my local hydro store... a bit over priced I found out later.... Fabricated the PVC piping and sprinkler heads to fit inside my container of choice. Which turned out to be a 55 gallon BRUTE food safe garbage can with lid. Fitted the lid with neoprene collars and fired it up in the shower of course to my dismay I realized the lid is far from water tight! I have been stuck on the water tight gasket issue now for over a month probably 2. Finally today I came across some interesting info about mixing 100% silicone with talcum powder till it is the consistency of play dough then forming my gasket from that. But before I blow another 8 dollar tube of silicone I figured it would be smart to ask this wonderful community for input... maybe someone else has already tackled this problem in a manner I have yet to find? the attached pictures are of the can, pvc sprinkler set up(yes there lawn sprinklers meant to throw water in a 14 foot radius) figure these wont clog anytime soon with heavy metals =P and the lid which I wanna seal to the base... Thanks again for reading this and I really would appreciate any input. Positive/Negative humor... at this point I wanna throw the hole thing away but I am to invested... they don't give brand new food safe garbage cans away where I live =P P.S. the only reason I will not stop this quest is I have run the cycle timer in Aero-Rails I made myself in the past and the roots outgrew the rails and clogged up the water flow as well as busted out the end caps... I know its not TRUE AEROPONICS by definition unless its HIGH pressure and sprayed to the .5 micron level-.30.... or possibly ATOMIZED to that point of small mist particle but these 50/60 actualy produces outa this world results ontop and below it will make the lightest small hairy white roots ya ever seen.....

argh road block 1 is the fact I made it with such a large diameter tube that it is still liquid inside the center.... also I used a dirty tube so its not pealing out effortlessly it is kinda sticking...
-
Thanks again Reaf! I feel like a kid on Christmas eve... been almost 24 hours since I set this thing rolling. I wound up using the silicone for another project and just decided to wing it with the rest of the tube on this seal idea you mentioned! I only had a short piece of pipe and it mite be a bit too big lol... but the theory seems to have worked out even better than I could have dreamed of. if anyone plans on doing this themselves please take head to not make the tube too long.... once u get about 2 feet in the pressure is enfough to crumple the calk gun trigger and or hurt your hand or shoot the tube off and make a mess!! =P onto the pictures. also any clue how long I should let this set? will it take longer to cure inside the tube? Thanks again for all the help folks!

Welcome to the forums! any clue why the leaves are kinda clawing down? the new growth looks so light I cant imagine its from over feeding.. and the fact u are waiting on food makes me think she is not getting enough air as she wants... I had this problem before and it turned out the soil was to muddy... err so thick it did not let in enough air... I am not sure just wanna throw it out there. grow on m8!

Damn Lamsbread! Thank you for the very detailed response man I never dreamed I'd get such an in depth reply~!~! I feel like I just took a quarter long class on the subject of light burn!!! After reading this post through twice I am starting to wonder if I mite be experienceing this same phenomenom on my Budget CFL grow... I have been going super lite on the food this hole time but still seeing crispy tips just like the heat stress photo's... any chance to much wind could cause a plant to appear as if it was heat burned? Thank you again lams you rock!

Greetings any clue what mite cause the funny ripply effect on the leaves?

Lady Blue Cheese is really kicking it into over drive! Starting to see the formations of Tri-combs already! Bumped up the food and the light.... was ruffly pushing 16k lumen before I stuck a few more cfl bulbs in there for the under side of the plant. Should b around 18.5k lumen at the moment... alot of it is in the blue spectrum though... got all my 2700k lamps added at the moment.. need some more.... dunno for sure though if the larger output of the blue bulbs lumen wise would make up for the wrong spectrum =P the 2700k's put out 600 lumens less per bulb... Set the ph to 6.5 with lemon juice as my acid... onto the pics~

Thank zub0 but even with a smaller pump the water would spill through as is.... The 1053gph dont really even make these heads spray hard pressure wise.... Also zub0 if I had the cash for a gasket this size from the open market I mite as well pick up a whole different container =P I'd love to run this build in a 55 gallon water barrel... Talk about root room woot woot!! Thank you Reaf for the very detailed response! My only question would have to be what about air bubbles... if I wanna make a gasket diameter a bit larger than the nozzel on the silicone tube I envision it not filling the tube at such a constant rate as would happen with a small aquarium air line... I supposed an aquarium air hose sized gasket mite solve this leak issue.... My thinking is all theory not practice so any chance u have done this before successfully? Which ultimately brings me back to trying to make a Sugru like product on my own via talcum powder mixed with latex and possibly naptha.... to create a toxic playdoh like goo that would be rolled into the tube like form Reaf previously mentioned but by hand instead of by mold.....
-
I am trying to seal the lid of the garbage can to the garbage can itself with some sorta gasket that is easy to open so I can check ph and ppms n the like....
-
Sure look like you got everything from now on planned out to a T~! can not wait to see how these girls turn out. planning on checking back to the diagrams later

come on after all these years NASA has officially switched from HID lamps... ie metal halide and HPS to LED technology in there experimental aero/hydro farms... the lights they use cost 2k a pop and cover about the same area as a 600 watt bulb... its all about technology evolving and market price and demand.... there is no demand for LEDS yet... although my city of Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater, in washington state is switching from HPS freeway lighting to LED... if nasa is not a BIG hint LEDS are kicking ass more than HID if NASA switching aint enfough look at my city.... the LED light is crisp clear and in the spectrum my eyes need.... as of Now the LEDS producing the spectrums needed for plant growth are SUPER expensive because no one wants spectrum they just want light.... soo soon as the indoor growing comunity starts buying the rite spectrum LEDS they will start producing them and the pricess will go down... LED has flown past HID anyone that has looked into it for real will tell u LED's are the future... there the present for rich folks...

I'd like to first off point out after much research I discovered more small bulbs = more lumens per watt... hate to say it but those big bulbs are a waste of power but I am also a penny pinching mofo who will dumpster dive a bucket instead of spend 3 bucks on one at walmart. If your bound to the big bulbs for now just focuse on adding addition small lamps if possible(big or small they dont penetrate more than 8 inches). in my state my local power company has a killer deal with the CFL manufactures and u can get 10x23watt 1,600 lumen bulbs for like 6 bucks =P at the moment I am running 10x23watt bulbs that pump out 16,000 lumens for 230 watts.... just something to think about. My advice is dont give up with CFLS you will save the money on heat ventilation and over all lighting costs in the long run. I have grown amazingly tight dank nugs with cfls~!~! u can and will too! hope I am not outa place putting a picture of my tight ass node stacking done with pure CFL light~!~!~! I hope you have a kick A$$ grow! if u wanna talk cfl's msg me anytime
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
