Flushing and Drying Hydro?

Recently I was watching a Greenhouse grow video featuring Jack Herer in soil and hydro. It was a great demonstration of proper technique. One thing has me puzzled, however. The moderators mentioned flushing and drying as being extremely important to the final yields, which were extremely impressive. I understand the concept for the dirt grow, but what kind of drying would one do in a hydro grow? Any explanation would be much appreciated!

Very happy to be here, I am a relative novice but am particularly interested in LED lighting and other advanced technology. In my real life I work in IT. Some of the videos I have watched here have blown me a way and am looking forward to learning!

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
