Awesome pics, awsome work. Hope you enjoy Latin America. One question, any particularity related to THCV being a country close to equator and with highaltitude grows?

I didn’t have the chance to upload the second location photos this week. Photos were taken on july 28th, I hope to take better pics with another camera this week. 1st photo and 2nd: Plant germinated around March. Unknown strain, rather sativa, lots of colas, narrow leaves, 170cm tall. Probably related to the plants Franco and Arjan showed in the last strain hunter, since most of weed is brought from Colombia. The biggest clon in the third pic above was taken from this plant. Since it has been a dry summer, we are having a little bit of problems with spider mite in the top part of the plant. 3rd, 4th, and 5th photo: They were all germinated on 21- 04 – 2013 following the moon cycle, waiting to check if they are female to move them to the soil.

I may be wrong (and don´t want to be a bossy prick) but i am pretty sure that is a brick of "creepy" , a new weed circulating around (not that enjoyable), very different from the old school strains or the classic brick “chola”. Be aware from it. Greetings from Ecuador

Two weeks ago the plants were transplanted into 1lt and 9lt containers. Half of them (3 plants) were moved into the second location (at 2350 masl). Here is the other half. The difference in growing is related to the day in which they sprout (they were all germinated on 21- 04 – 2013 following the moon cycle). Some of these seeds are between 5 and 3 years old. Most of them are showing a female “preflower”. They are growing into an organic soil mix. The mix contains: rice husk, vermicompost, and “black soil” (sold in local nurseries as greatly nutritive highlands soil). 1st photo: Garden´s vigilante 2nd photo: Topside view of the plants 3rd photo: Three clones from two different plants and an orchid flower. Coming soon, photos of the second location.

I’ve been growing for five years in Quito, Ecuador. There are some elements that are quiet unique in this city that is located at 2800masl (my grow place is a little bit higher). It is just a few kilometers from the equator so there are no seasons (or variations in the sunlight hours). We have only “two seasons”; rainy and sunny, temperatures never go below 4°C or above 27°C. Our height, almost 3k above the sea level, and our latitude result in high levels of uv radiation. The uv index states that the maximum level recommended is 11. During sunny days uv index goes from 9 to 11.8*, reaching levels of 16 and 23** in other areas. I’m pretty sure that high levels of cbdv and thcv could be developed in outdoor grows around the country. These are some of the plants i had for the past five years. *http://www.temis.nl/...hp?lon=78&lat=0, http://www.uvawareness.com/ ** http://www.bbc.co.uk..._ozono_gz.shtml

Thanks for your visit and your well wishes. The temperature is actually quite template; during the sunny season temperature reaches a maximum of 27 C°. Nights never go below 0 is C °, temperature around 7°C. High levels of moisture and dew could be a problem but these months are dry. Today we moved half of the babies to the second location into a near valley (30mns of driving) that is 500mts lower.

This is a shared grow. Vegetative stage develops at 0° 8'40"S , at 2892 meters above sea level. When Flowering, plants are moved into a valley near Quito at 0°12'33"S 2350 masl. This is a mix of unknown strains germinated on 21- 04 - 2013 Photo was taken on 15 - 06 - 2013
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
