  1. I've already started this thread, but just noticed I put it in the "Indoor Growing Journals" not the "Outdoor" so I'm redoing this here where it belongs. If an admin can remove the thread I started in the Indoor section or can delete it as it doesn't belong there. Sorry about that. I had just received and tried some 29.2% THC Headband from my legal Licensed Producer (good price at $7/gram) before posting so you can see how easily I made the mistake :-) I know I'm a little late this year, but I had to hold off as I was getting new windows put on my house and didn't want any workers seeing my babies. Even though I'm growing legally here in Canada with my Cultivation license from Health Canada still valid while the courts decide if the government can take away this right they gave me. Once again I'm using basically only Powder Feeding for fertilizer. I do add a couple of other things, one being Super Thrive, 4 drops per 20 liters (great for root growth) and Ormus which I add one type once during veg and another type I use once during flowering. Neither is a fertilizer, but an additive to bring in missing elements to my plants. But Powder Feeding is the only fertilizer being used. The growing medium I use is Pro Mix BX Mycorrhizae, this is put into 20 gallon (75 liters) The Mycorrhizae is a Biostimulant that allows your plants to more easily absorb nutrients. I then PH the water to the instructed level and EC to using the same instructions that came with my Powder Feeding. This year will be the first with Powder Feeding that I am measuring PH and EC. I'm after perfection this year. My seeds were not started until May 24th, so by the time they germinated and were put in their starter pots it was June. The pictures I'll now post are of all my stuff to fertilize, test and keep my babies growing up to big fat girls. I'll be sure to post weekly updates to share progress of these unusual strains I'm growing this year. All seeds are from Ace Seeds as they have the most creative breeders with some very nice varieties. What you'll see me growing this year are 2- Kali China (Fem), 1- Nepal Jam x Kali China (Fem), 3- Nepal Jam (Standard seeds) and 2- Erdpurt (Standard seeds). I'm hoping that I get a least one female from each of my Standard Erdpurt and two females from my 3 Nepal Jam Standard seeds. But I'll be taking exactly what mother nature decides I get. I could not get feminized seeds for these two strains and I really wanted to try both, so I'm taking the chance. So without further ado, here are my first pictures of the year. Nice to be back growing, it was a long cold winter.
  2. I went back on the weekend and tried again. I was totally prepared this time and had all the steps I needed to do down pat. I only had two "test plates" left so I was going to do the THC tests on one and the cannabinoid testing on the other. In my haste I prepared the first plate to do THC testing. I did everything correctly, but in my haste to see results I forgot to dry the plate after it was in the developing solution and went straight to spraying the dye on it. So I was done to one plate left. I then did everything correctly and got my THC results. I will be ordering more plates and testing solutions as well I will be spending on an automatic measuring device as using the tiny little glass pipettes to measure out the exact amount to place on the test plates is a pain in the ass. So I've spent the $99.00 for the perfect measuring device. So below you will see pictures of how I set things up for testing and finally my last plate with the test results on it. Until next year "Happy and successful growing to all"
  3. So sorry to everyone, I've still not re done the testing just yet. I've got everything ready to do them, but just need a few hours of time. I'll be doing the testing correctly this coming weekend and I'll post pictures and the results I get with the test kit. I too am very curious to find out the THC levels of each strain.
  4. Jose.gh is very correct, you do need both THC and CBD for it to be effective. I've found using and good Afgani or Moroccan Indica gives great results. I'm no doctor, but I am a cancer survivor and did use oil as part of my treatment, I also had to have 4 surgeons work for 6 hours to, cut up my knee (removed skin, knee cap, all muscle and 4 tendons along with the tumor) and then put be back together with parts taken from other places on my body. I have been clean for 2 years and 6 months, I did 1 gram a day for 45 days after surgery and now do a monthly maintenance of 1 gram. I've also made oil for a friend who was sent home to die after chemo, radiation and surgery didn't help. She was given 4 to 6 weeks. After using the oil for 6 weeks she went back to the hospital and they checked her out as she was not supposed to be alive. The found the 5 brain tumors had shrunk 68%, she was afraid to tell them she was doing the oil, but the doctors were in shock and asked a lot of questions about her eating and life style. She did well for another 7 months but unfortunately the cancer had already spread to pretty much all her organs. I can't help but think if she had started the oil as soon as she found out and had passed on the chemo and radiation as those two things really destroy your whole immune system. I wish you the best of success with your mother and hope you can get moving on the oil very soon.
  5. Here's a quick report on the testing with the kit I purchased. My son and I went at it on Saturday. The first test, we messed up on a very simple thing and that was weighing out the test samples. We both had "brain cramps" as this is the only way to explain that we figured that 100mg was .o1 grams on the scale, but in reality it is .1 grams on the scale. So we started over, this time weighing out the correct sample size, but then we screwed up on the instrument we used to move the 2 micro liter of solution to the test panels. We did get results just not the right ones. I finally stated to think and went on Youtube and found a video that explained to perfection how to use the kit correctly. I now know how to do it correctly and will be doing it on Saturday once again. I'll take a picture of the results and post it. This kit is very accurate, many dispensaries use this same kit to show the THC CBD and chromatography results for the strains they sell. So I expect to get very accurate results to share. Sorry for the delay, but I had a learning curve to go through :-)
  6. You asked for more info on hash making, here is a link to a place I bought my bags from, supper quick and easy to extract resin and cheap https://www.wackywillysweb.com/products.php?cat=76
  7. Forgot to leave you a link to a site where you can purchase a test kit that will test the THC and CBD content of your crops. The cheapest test kit is $99.00, it's good for 15 to 20 tests, it's just arrived here and I'll be using it this weekend to test my crops, here is the link http://cannalyticssupply.com/ . And here is a link to a nice dry ice sifting bag system for making keif, I use these and they work great https://www.wackywillysweb.com/products.php?cat=76%C2'> Thanks again for sharing your grow with us :-)
  8. Here are my final pictures of 2015's crops. I now have everything harvested, dried and it is all now in 1 liter canning jars, a total of 48 filled to the top. Everything turned out fantastic for me again this year. I'm going to find out just how fantastic it is as I've purchased a testing kit that tests for THC and CBD, this weekend I'll test the crops and posts the results. Here is where I purchased the kit for $99.99, http://cannalyticssupply.com/ So enjoy these final pictures from the crops of 2015.
  9. The hardest part of any grow is the trimming, specially with the number and size of plant you had. Congratulations on a very successful year
  10. Thanks for the compliments. I'll be putting up my final pictures soon. I've got everything harvested, and it is all now in canning jars curing. I got 5.3 pounds of finished buds from my 5 plants, so I'll be good for the year :-)
  11. I wish I'd seen this earlier. I'd love to be one of the lucky ones to be a part of this testing. I would be growing outdoors and using only Powder Feeding as I've done for the past three years with fantastic results. MY preference would be for the Kush as I am growing outdoors and I have a max of 9 weeks of flowering time where I live.
  12. I know how much work it is to do all that trimming. I can't imagine doing it all by myself .... I can feel your aching back, neck and cramping sticky fingers as the pile just never seems to go down. A few years ago when faced with a huge (over 200 plants) I had to go out and buy an electric trimming machine as it was the only way I could possibly trim all that before it spoiled. So I can trim a 12 foot plant in an hour, not a perfect trim but very good.
  13. Seems to be missing a lot of resin production. By now I would expect to see a lot of frosty resin covering the bud and leaves? But maybe it just needs more time for this variety as I know nothing of Philippines stains.
  14. Hopefully you got a lot more than just this little bud? :-) I'm trying to get one more week of growth to fatten up my saliva's a little bit more. The weather here has suddenly turned bad. Last week was sunny with day temps 27 and nights 12, now it's day 16 and night 5. This will be their last week before harvest. Congratulations on another successful year.
  15. I'm back from my trip to China, but still suffering from jet lag, the 12 hour time difference is brutal to recover from. My plants were looking good on my return. My sons took care of them for me. But the day after I returned, a big storm hit us, the plants were bent over and branches broke. I spent 5 hours yesterday, cleaning them up, taking off dead leaves, putting in 2 meter stakes and tying them to the stakes for support. I also had to add support for some branches that suffered damage in the storm. I'm thinking perhaps 10 more days. More if the weather permits. So far no rot with these, unlike the Erdpurt, which had heavy rot. You will see a picture of the results of harvest, I haven't weighed it yet, but it looks to be about 300 grams or so. The 4 plants left growing are, two Kali China and one Nepal Jam and one Kali China x Nepal Jam.
  16. Here are some updated pictures. The Erdpurt is coming down on Saturday as bud rot is out of control. Been a very hot and sunny week 30 during the day and 14 at night. The Kali China is coming along real nice, lost of frost showing on the little buds already. The Kali China x Nepal Jam is also coming along nicely. The Nepal Jam is very slow and may not mature. I will be going to China on Saturday for a couple of weeks so no more updates for awhile.
  17. Looking awesome!!! What great results you've gotten as a result of your very good preparation and planning. Harvesting is going to be fun.
  18. It's been since April 18th since we've seen any pictures of your garden? Sure would be nice to see how things have turned out for you. It did seem like you got off to a roaring start. Hope all goes well?
  19. I'm on the medical marijuana program here in Canada, so I have access to "Licensed Producers" and do use them to try some stains I've never tried. Here in Canada, they have to send out all harvested marijuana for testing before they get approval to sell it. So I feel pretty confident no pesticides are involved. I don't like the fact that most LP's irradiate their "medicines" to avoid any mold or fungus issues during the approval process. So I grow my own, using my "Cultivation License" from Health Canada.
  20. The last picture is a picture of the very bottom branch of he Erdpurt . As you can see I pollinated it with an Erdpurt male, so I'll have lots of seeds to keep this very early finishing plant around for years to come. Next year, I'll feminize the seeds for the future.
  21. Agree 100%, the only way you'll ever know for sure is go grow it yourself.
  22. Time for my now weekly update. The Erdpurt is nearing its end, I'd say maybe 10 days to go. I did fertilize one bottom branch two weeks ago as I had a male Erdpurt so why not more seeds from a plant that is now exactly 100 days old and pretty much ready. As for the rest of my girls, they are the opposite of Erdpurt as you'll see from the pictures, the Kali China is coming along, but has many weeks to go as does the Nepal Jam and Kali China x Nepal Jam. I'm going to cross the Erdpurt with all of them to try and get them to mature a lot sooner. So here goes, pictures from September 6th.
  23. I too have suffered through cancer, I did radiation treatments daily for 6 weeks then 6 hours of surgery. I've been cancer free for over 2 years now. I didn't like morphine they had me on a pump, so when I told them I'd rather use marijuana to deal with the pain, it was no problem. The switched me to synthetic marijuana in a capsule twice a day Once out of the hospital I got both my medical marijuana license and my cultivation license. I grow, then sift my buds mixed with dry ice through a very fine screen to create keif. I then use 99% Isopopal alcohol mixed with the keif and filter it through a coffee filter and then into a rice maker to evaporate the alcohol and I get fantastic brown oil. I take one gram each weekend as a maintenance dose, just in case. I also vaporize bud daily as my prescription is for 5 grams/day. I have also given my oil to a friend suffering from skin cancer. He was getting his face cut up at least once per year as the cancer keeps coming back. I gave him a vial of oil, he put a dab on the cancer each day then covered it with a band aid. Within 3 weeks it was gone!! His doctor is is shock, he's loving it and it will be his go to treatment if it ever comes back.
  24. Here's the Kali China, just starting to flower, this is from a week ago, so new pictures coming soon.
  25. I'm sorry but I've not taken new pictures for a few days, I do have some that are a few days older than what I've already posted, so I'll up load them, but they are still about a week old and the girls are changing daily. The Erdpurt is going great guns and will be ready within a couple of weeks. I'm going for a vacation to China on September 19th so I hope I can have it harvested before I go, the rest will not be ready until mid October from what I can see. Although the Kali China has really picked up over the past week and buds are forming fast. The Nepal Jam and Kali China x Nepal Jam are very slow. I will be taking nice new pictures soon, hope tonight or tomorrow. I will pull each plant aside so you can get a perfect view of each one. No, that isn't me in the photos, it was an employee of mine, who wanted to see the plants.

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
