Thanks for taking the time to respond Lambsbread, yes I posted here and then through tit was the wrong place and it deserved it's own thread. I'll look forward to reading about (and maybe growing) them if they ever show up in the future. In the thread I created someone has hinted at the possibility of some beans tested in some thread or another so that also shows promise. I guess its just the complete lack of tangle information on where the project is at which seems odd when the whole concept of strain hunters appears to be in reference to landrace. Maybe I asked it in a provocative way to provoke a response but I believe the question is relivant and pertiant. I'm a customer of theirs like anyone else and this is a business so although Arjan's egocentic personality flabergasted me when I met him that doesn't mean a lot to me as all I'm after is quality genetics. I'm aware of breeding practices but I'm not aware how long it took to create El Nino no, maybe I'll ask Shantibaba next time I'm on his forum lol All the best mate

If it's just Green Houses new hybrids then that's fine but I've heard them saying for years how they were visiting all these countries to collect genes to bring back for their customers... what I'm wondering is what was the motovation behind releasing non-land race genes under "strain hunters" and what kind of time scale their customers are looking for before we can try some of these land races? Don't get me wrong, I've bought White Lemon from them as I love Lemon and I love El Nino but that''s not the question here! lol Are they hunting strains around the globe or just looking in the cuboard upstrairs? lol

Ow what a great thread and a great find, be interesting to see how these turn out! I've just recently bought my self a pack of Sinai from RealSeedCompany in UK, fingers crossed they produce something as good as what you get to smoke. Can I just ask though, you not going to flower off those plants under a crappy CFL are you? when you have that wonderful middle eastern sun at your disposal? If you are flowering under CFL then expect a terrible yeild from the land races. Also ensure the CFL is no more than a few inches away from the plants. Personally I wouldn't use silicate as a foilier feed, it may block up the stoma on the leaf. I'd use it as a soil drench personally, I find it works wonders fed that way. Stop feeding it as you go into flower though or it'll affect the taste and burn of the bud. I use enoculated biochar in my compost mix but one thing to note is that is raises the PH so bare that in mind. It will help you retain water, as will you clay pots too, which I'd imagine could be an issue in a dry climate such a yours, even when growing indoors. Another excellent amendment to soil is "volcanic rock dust" or "bassalt" as it's also known, it's an excellent source of trace elements and helps your plants tollerate droughts more etc. Start you own "wormary" in a shaded cool spot in your garden, the "worm casts" it produces from your kitchen scraps (peelings) will improve your soil a lot and provices nitrogen and phosphorus. Another big thing in my opinion is "innoculation" of the plant, I feel it'll help you immensly in your climate/region. I'm not sure of a brand you can get in your county but look for things saying "mycorrhizal fungi", preferably try and get it in a granular form, so you sprinkle the granules onto a wet rootball. If I were you I'd go commpletely Organic and not mess about with snythetic nutrients and PPM and all that nonsense. Chances are the land race genetics would respond better to an organic based fertiliser anyway. Good luck for the future mate. Let me know if their is anything I can help you with.

-=DrGreenThumb=- started following SO.. who's actually worked with any Landraces..

Speaking of land race genetics and access to them? What is the effect of Arjan and crew giving hybrid seeds to all the land race farmers they meet? How does that affect the genepool and also any future want to be strain hunters?
-
Well Arjan and his right hand man Franko certainly talk the talk but do they walk the walk? When, if ever, are they actually going to release somethng with some of these land race genetics in? Why is "strain hunters" just old green house strains crossed with each other? I'm disapointed and at a loss to understand why "strain hunters" brand was started if they are just going to rehash their existing Green House genetics, was it purely a marketing/rebranding tactic? Someone give me some good news about them testing land races from GH/SH and they are just taking a long time to breed and these "old" hybrids are just their to see people over with limited edited crosses untill the ACTUAL land race genetics are done being breed!?

Auto Flower? I thought strain hunters was about brining us land race genetics? Where are they? was that just a marketing stunt to sell a load of DVD's and enable them to cross and rehash all their existing strains under a different name? Auto White Widow? errr it's 2014!!! Disapointed is an understatement... Don't believe the hype!!!

Well done mate, looks great. Just got 8 seedlings in the root trainers ready to go. I think I'll document it on here.
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
