  1. Wow, what a beautiful Island. With the recovery of possible wreckage from flight MH370, I expect many internet-surfers may have googled-up "Reunion" to see what they can find. .

I found some interesting Information to add to or to support Franco's excellent article above. Here it is: .

The following is a very interesting article describing the migration of the people to and from the Island through its history, their use of marijuana in traditional and contempory customs. And the relatively calm and non-abusive reaction of the community and law enforcement. .

Whereas marijuana is called ganja or weed or lambsbread or other names in various places on Earth, on Reunion Island it is called Zamal. Although Zamal is the general term there for MJ, it may be possible that there is or was a Reunion Landrace. But as is happening worldwide now, the hybrid genetics could be mixing-in with the "Zamal" landrace, making the original Reunion Zamal more and more rare. I've heard that it is very very good, so it might be a good idea to somehow acquire the Zamal genetics before they are crossed away with other hybrids. As I understand from articles, only some of the older growers in Reunion may still have the original Reunion Zamal genetics. Nevertheless, I looked around to see where it might be obtainable, and this is what I found: .

If either of These links fail to function, I had found them using a search-engine for "Reunion Island marijuana". .

By the way, if you are planning to go Surfing off Reunion Island between your Strain-hunting excursions, watch-out. Read this: .

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
