Alaska is so vast and has so many different climates. Truly one of the last real frontiers left on Earth. I am willing to bet that there are some hidden landraces somewhere in that state. My hypothesis is that they may be mostly autoflowering due to the light cycle there. But I still this it would be worth it since most autoflowering genetics come from Russia. It would be nice to get some more genetic diversity for autoflowers. Hell, who knows, there might even be some fast flowering/early flowering photoperiod Indica plants out there. Just gotta go look for them.

I bet they have some really nice IBL Asian Sativa plants. But I also think that N Korea has some draconian weed laws so the culture may be non-existent.

I mean no offense, but I did want to comment on your post. Calling Pandora the "best autoflowering strain" is a very subjective thing to do. Different strokes for different folks, right? I didn't like Pandora but I did love Think Different. Also, i hope you realize that you can't grow autos the same way as photos. IMHO, to have a high performing autoflower, you cannot under any circumstances stress the plant the first month or so. One small hiccup in the this critical phase and you'll have a 6 inch tall stick of bud coming out of the ground. I start the seeds in a nutrient light mix in 3 gallon pots, 1 gallon being the absolute bare minimum. Also, you need to keep giving her bloom nutrients until the stretching finally stops. Also, harvest when all the fan leaves naturally fall off. I don't judge by trichome color. Between weeks 8-12, I seed the buds swell like no other. Also, weed is not just THC to get you high, it is a buffet of different kinds of cannabanoids (cbd/cbn/etc) which imprint their subtleties into the actual high. For example. I like ruderalis due to its high content of other cannabanoids. So for me at least, autoflowers are a godsend.

I would love to go back to Afghanistan. It can be safe to go there now but you can't be a total moron when you get there. That's how you get kidnapped and end up on Al-Jazeera begging for your head to not be cut off. Learn the culture/customs. Be polite and respectful, always say Salaam to all the locals if they make eye contact. Leave their women alone, don't even look at them. Wear the proper clothing (thope) and just blend in. I'm first generation American but my family is from Pakistan which is right next door. I'v spend a lot of time in both countries and have learned how to not get killed. I know I sound a little overly dramatic but you have to understand that all of my personal experiences in Afghanistan is based off of exploring the northern tribal areas of both Pakistan/Afghanistan. Unfortunately, there is also a heavy presence of Taliban in the tribal areas. They call that area "No Mans Land", just north of the Thar Desert. The tribal leaders are the ones who decide justice in those areas, not government. Some of those tribal leaders have strong connections with Taliban. But, the non-crazy locals are great. Very hospitable and polite. Just be respectful and hopefully no one messes with you.

Oh yeah btw... While I had some downtime overseas, I did go hiking and trekking and the wild cannabis plants I did find were mostly Cannabis Ruderalis. I know they have hash plants and Sativa plants too but I didn't have that much time to explore. Can't forget, I was there to extract hydrocarbons, not look for Cannabis, lol. Se la vie.............

About 2 months ago, I was in Turkmenistan for work with the oil and gas company I work for. While there, I was gifted a brown paper bag full of some fluffy lime green bud from an old colleague. I asked the guy about it and he told me that it was from is Uncles farmhouse. They have been growing cannabis as a family trade for multiple generations with the same genetics. That part of the world has an apparent shortage of cannabis and most of the locals smoke dark brown, almost black colored hashish. But it was cool that I got to smoke some bud there since it's rare. Anyway, it's funny I found this thread because I literally just dropped a couple of beans into soil. Maybe, I should post a pic of the seeds once they sprout? Would anyone be interested?
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
