  1. High there. Living and growing in northern Alberta since '01 tho grew my first buds in '78 when I lived in Calgary. Mainly do DWC tho play in the dirt as well. Have my medical exemption but not my grow permit yet tho thinking of registering. I use pot for the chronic depression I have suffered for almost 40 years after being nearly beaten to death by a very large man with a hammer and for the arthritis that keeps getting worse as I go thru my early 60s. Taking it mainly in the form of a coconut oil infusion I make with liquid sunflower lecithin added and decarb in the crock pot by raising the heat up to 260F until the bubbles stop. Small tokes during the day help keep my mood more positive without stoning me out while the cocobudder gives me almost 24 hours of decent pain reduction for my joints. C'ya in the forums!
  2. I won't buy feminized seeds . . . ever. Up until recently I've always traded seeds with friends or in some cases been gifted seeds to grow out then share some of the proceeds with the seed donor. I've also sent out numerous free packs of seeds to people I've met in various forums. Usually 50 - 60 of 4 or more strains. Just preparing a package for a needy grower that lives in the states so hope these get thru the mail OK. I keep clones from any new females I grow out and sample so I breed with what I think are the best of the bunch. Fem seeds have their place but when a company sells only female seeds they won't be getting any of my money. I just bought some 5 packs of regular BlueBerry, Original Skunk, and Afghani from one company and a 10 pack of one called Green Spirit from another company. Purchased in stores and not mailed. I plan to cross any good males I get with an OTTO#1 female currently ready to be flowered but will be donating a dozen cuttings before she goes 12/12. The Otto is very low in THC, <1% and up to 27% CBD so should get some decent CBD versions of those classic strains. I also have two females ready to flower that are crosses of the Otto and Cannatonic. Will be getting cuttings from each of them then plan to send out samples of the buds to a lab for testing on the levels of both for better dosing. Been growing and breeding for almost 40 years. Never for profit.
  3. High french mango I think you mean that your leaves are a little droopy? In my experience some plants will always look a bit droopy while other strains will stand up and reach for the lights, (praying). Some will droop at the end of the day or early morning while be perky looking at other times. I think like us they get tired and just want to relax. If too dry or suffering from root rot the leaves hang down and look dried out. Yours don't look like that at all so they seem to be getting enough water. How is it you water them? The best for pot plants is to allow the pots to get very light so you should pick them up and feel the weight when very dry and also when freshly watered until they are saturated. Once they need watering more than every two days I move them into bigger pots before they get too root-bound. I also use a bread knife to cut an inch or so off the bottom of the root-ball to get rid of all the long stringy roots at the bottom. I also shave down the sides to do the same if there are roots wound around the sides. The roots branch out like the branches do when you top a branch or the top shoot of a plant and fill the pot with fine root hairs. They look good so I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck and good growing!
  4. Nice stuff Robbo! The finest screen I have for making dry sift is 180 micron so don't get the best kief out of it but I combine it with decent oil to make a nice black hash that smokes well and really kicks butt.
  5. High #Robbo#420# A press isn't really going to get you oils out of unflowered plants and isn't the best way to extract oils even from top bench buds. A small hobbyist steam distillation unit will get oils but will only do small batches so you might be at it for a long time to get much. Solvent extractions would be the way to go but then you are messing with large quantities of highly flammable liquids. I used to boil the ground up leaves and tops to make a crude pot oil using isopropanol in a 4L plastic milk jug back in '82. Further processing would be needed with something like naphtha to separate the oil from all the junk you get from such a method. A lot of work for what will be very little product. As to making your own fiber suitable for making clothing that will prove to be even more work. Better off just buying a pair of hemp shorts online. Good luck!

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
