  1. Nebula is fully harvested on Day 67 of flowering - YAY!! Here she is before (remember, about 6 cola have already been harvested, and half of that smoke, nom, nom, nom): Wet trimming: Then into a box with some string to hang them from. Trim went into bag and into freezer to make Bubble-Bag-Hash at the end of harvesting everything: Bare bones: Wave at your mother one last time, bud(dy): Happy Growing, Drying, Curing & Smoking!
  2. Hi @g22, Perhaps the pre-prepared media I made before I even popped the seeds. I don't know, I could guess and guess all day long and still may guess wrong. All I know is about a week or so ago the propagation tent had a lot of them. Couple with M & 3 being the only very wet pots (having been flushed on 18th Feb). , I figured it was the media in M & 3's pots. Can't do a H2O2 flush of those pots until the plants can take it (which they won't be able to now and for a week or two [likely two] at least). H2O2 is bad for the fungi, but if it's killing the gnat vs looking after the fungi, killing the gnats wins it for me. 3% as @LedCherryBerry says. I can grow without lots and lots of (Enhanced) fungi. Plants really don't seem to like lots of gnat flies though. QED. To stop them spreading, there are the yellow traps for the adults, and the other plants are going to be kept dry to very dry, so as not to give a place for any adult gnat flies to lay their eggs. I think I'll spread some Perlite (the heavy grains, not the stuff that will blow about) on the surface of all the pots. Hopefully this will break the gnat fly cycle. Aside: Nebula is harvested (on the other thread in a bit). Happy Growing!
  3. It's to catch gnat flies. M & 3, as well as their other problems, have infestations. Hopefully by keeping the other plants dry, the infestation won't spread to them, which I have a chance to kill off the source. Anyhoo, harvest day for Nebula (other grow) today. Harvested a few cola's last night and gave them a wet trim. The rest of Nebula is going to be cut down whole, wet trimmed, and then put in a big cardboard box to dry slowly. Happy Growing!
  4. M & 3 are back on! They look like Christmas trees due to the defoliation of the dead/dying leafs I did. They are Rhino after all - very thick skinned, tough and hardy! Well done on the genetics GHS - they should be dead by now, but they're not. Removing those leafs seems to have invigorated the plants. Interesting. I guess many growers would have binned them, or would still bin them. Not me. I dug them into this hole, so my job is to dig them out (not literally @slimjim) and get them to harvest (ie, live a life). Tri & Bi going great guns. Top left [M] is 36 days old; bottom right [3] 33 days; top right 25 days [Bi], bottom right [Tri] 29 days. There's a little something new in the middle, for just in case M & 3 did not make it. Root!T cubes seems to work ok at getting the shell casing off, although I had to do surgery on the other as it tried to push up through the sponge where there was not gap. I simply need to inspect the cubes better next time. I shall be using those cubes all the time in future. I hope to top Bi and Tri and use that topping as cuttings/clones - my first attempt at cloning. I shall let them grow a bit first. M & 3 will get topped as well in a few days to they can concentrate on those side shoots. Happy Growing!
  5. Hi @g22, Very nice and informative pictures. That root structure looks great, and I can see what you mean now by the different base layer you have used (with Perlite as opposite to the above that which does not seem to have Perlite). Happy Growing!
  6. Oooh, bud porn. Nice!
  7. Not sure that calculation is correct, ie, 1g will be utilized in 23 days. I think the Grow will stay active in the media for 8 weeks (48 days), and the difference between say 1g and 3g in the media is that with 3g it will have a higher concentration of 8-week Grow than the 1g of 8-week Grow in the same size pot. I think this is a good question to ask @jan.gh or @Jose.gh on the Questions thread to verify. "Trust, but verify", Ronald Regan. Happy Growing!
  8. My fingers are crossed for you @g22 What was the ph measurement? Some of your leaf tips where turned down. This is one indication of nutrient burn. The more charts I look at, the more confused I get as to what your problem could be. Example, in this link your leaf looks like Magnesium deficiency (although it says "will occur on the upper leaves"): https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blog-cannabis-nutrient-and-deficiency-table-n88 I don't think you have a magnesium deficiency, just highlighting that it's v difficult to nail down the issue with conflicting pics to choose from. Pushed, I'd say nute burn that's lead to a lockout of some sort, but that's just a guess and I don't want to lead you astray. Maybe ask @jan.gh or @Jose.gh on the Questions thread? Happy Growing!
  9. M & 3 after chopping off the really damaged/dead leafs. The stem leafs did grow a bit last night after the chopping, so there is hope if there is new growth I think. There's always hope, right up until there's no hope Happy Intensive Care Growing!
  10. I have pulled up a seat for your grow @mungbean79 Happy Growing!

Hi @ayzns, Your girls are looking great, and well done winning hour battle with gnats! When to switch to 12/12 I think is personal preference. Some growers switch with not a lot of veg time, others have a very long veg time. My own personal preference is to wait until I have filled up about 70-80% of the tent canopy with veg growth and then switch. Switching to 12/12 is called Transition. It took my girls 18 days to show their flowers after the Switch, so my Transition was 18 days. 3/4 days of Transition would be awesome! Good luck with whatever you decide. Happy Growing!
  12. Hi @Just_Curious1992, Are these the same seeds as in your post here: Some more pics & details of what you're equipment setup is would be great. Additionally, if you want to set up a grow diary, this is the section: http://forums.strainhunters.com/forum/15-grow-journals-indoor/ Here's an example log (my current one): http://forums.strainhunters.com/forum/15-grow-journals-indoor/ Happy Growing!
  13. Gave Tri and Bi a dose of Grow this morning. This is their first feeding of anything other than what is in my tap water (181ppm when ph'd to 6.1) and the Canna Coco Pro & Perlite they're in. Today is Day 26 for Tri and Day 23 for Bi., since sprouting. Pretty sure I've burnt the frak out of M & 3 by giving too much Grow & Enhancer as well as their 'hot' media needs more Perlite or similar, so drowned roots/root rot. If M & 3 make it, I'll mention them again. Until then, M & 3 are quarantined in The Dungeon. Got 1 litre of 6.1ph aired-for-three-days tap water (181ppm / EC 0.36 / 22.8c), added a heaped teaspoon of Grow, stirred thoroughly, then gave them 500ml each. Edit: looked at notes, and the above mix gave a ppm of ~1000 (EC 2.0). WAY too 'hot', so I diluted it down to 654ppm (EC 1.3) The reason I did it that way is because I found with M & 3 that I was adding a lot of water to get the Grow that was spread on the surface to go in. Overwatering is the bane of my growing existence, so I had to change the application method. Mixing a dose with a little water will hopefully distribute the Grow better through the media than if I had dumped it on the surface and splashed water at it. Yes, I could have added some grow to the media in the pots I transplanted them in, but I feel that I would make the media too 'hot' and not being able to take it out afterwards (I think you have nute burn @g22 ) . If I give too little, I can always add more. Less is more They're in the HPS tent again while it's on. I want some stretch on these short bushy indicas so the LSTing I plan will garner me lots of space between nodes/stems/colas. The LED goes over them when they go back into The Dungeon (propagation tent) [from 7pm - 7am]. Happy Growing!
  14. Mobile nutrient problems start at the bottom of the plant and work their way up. Immobile nutrient problems start at the top of the plant (new growth) and work their way down. Your starts at the bottom (?) I think.
  15. It's very hard to see in those photo's. Can you get any closer photo's of the sick leafs? What's the ph of your water? Did it ever get quite cold in there? What has happened (feed / water / temps/ etc) since about 4 days before that leaf sickness started to show? I've got lots of thoughts going on in my head regarding what it is, and more information could narrow my newby guess down.
  16. The tops look great, but some of the middle and lower leafs don't look happy. I was using this to try and figure out what: http://www.ilovegrowingmarijuana.com/marijuana-nutrients-fertilizer-deficiency/ I downloaded your pic and zoomed in: What do you think the problem is, @g22? Happier Growing!
  17. Thanks @Onionland and thanks for sticking through this grow with me . I wish I could puff-puff-pass to you. Yes, I'm getting VERY excited. I felt some pressure to finish them so the big tent would be available for the WR contest, but as it happens, there is no rush now so I'm going to let this five-strain grow go and go, especially the indica dominant strains. Just won a prize from Paradise Seeds (on Twitter) for my photo's so excited to see what they're going to send. Happy Growing & Smoking!
  18. A wizz around my tent (the WR are in there as well): Hope those hairs are going to smoke well ;-) (cats, and moi). Trichomes are mostly clear or cloudy still with only a few amber, so the lockout(s) have effected harvest date as I suspected. Many are over due. I will be patient. All the bud I have taken off and smoked so far has been lovely, so the plants have got over their over-feeding I think. I have a stem of Nebula and Dutch Dragon drying, so that will last me until I finally do harvest. Had about 18g dried so far off them (a bit of Ice Cream, Nebula and Dutch Dragon). Happy Growing and Smoking!
  19. Hi @LedCherryBerry, Highlander looks great, well done! I try to "leaf tuck" (apparently that's a method, like LST is a method, who knew!) where I can, and defoliate if I have to. Regarding your new feeding regime, perhaps ask the GHF lot a question on the questions page as I'm fairly sure the Grow & Bloom last ~8 weeks once in the media. So for instance if you want a 10 week grow phase, you add the Grow at the start and then add some more after 2 weeks so it's used by end of week 10. For Bloom it says on the package, regarding different bloom lengths (8 weeks; 10 weeks; 12 weeks). Happy Growing!
  20. Sensi Star (Day 65 of flowering): Happy Growing!
  21. Hi @LedCherryBerry, That Catch22 with clay pebbles is M & 3 don't have them and 5 & 6 did (2-3cm in bottom of pot), and 5 & 6 are going great. I hate to change a winning formula. 5 .... you know what, I'm going to rename '5' to 'Tri', as in Tri-leaf/stem. Tri does not have pebbles in her 11l pot, just compressed Canna Coco Pro & Perlite. 6, which I'll now call 'Bi" as she's a .... two-leaf/stem plant, Bi will also not have them. She'll get transplanted this evening (8pm, their lights on). Bi had some water this morning, just a bit, hopefully enough to bind her media together ready for the transplant this evening. The media she will go into will not be watered as usual as it has some moisture in it already from the bag. Re. the clay pebbles, I had soaked [for ages] & washed (several times) the clay pebbles before hand. Just had another test with ph 6.55 water. Put a load of clay pebbles in it, twizzled it around, waited 5 mins. Ph went up to 6.65, so only a 0.1 increase. I'll give those air-pots a go next grow. Happy Growing!
  22. M & 3 are dying. Wonder if it's linked to the huge gnat fly infestation I seem to have in the propagation tent (hence the yellow sticky traps being out). Could be lots of things (gnat flies / gone-off media / watering / ph / h2o2 / too much feed/whatever), so I'm not going to dwell on it as I won't be able to work it out. 5 & 6 are doing great with no food just aired tap water. 5 (the tri-leaf/stem) has been transplanted into an 11l pot. They've not had any food yet (Enhancer or BioGrow) and I will feed them when they're asking for it. Another thing I've learned - only use clay pebbles in the final pot. Transplanting 5 to the 11l pot was difficult to say the least with clay pebbles at the bottom of her pot. I'll have the same issue with 6. 5 into new pot: The propogation tent: Poor M: Poor 3: 5 looking great even after the transplant last night from her pebbley pot: 6 will go into a 11l pot today with Canna Coco Pro & Perlite only: : Happy Growing!
  23. Tent redesign this morning in preparation for drying. Had a look through the garage for stuff to bodge with and found some old wine boxes and large whiteboard. Boxes are the right size to be able to leave enough space between lights and canopy tops. Boxes all the same height. I should get all my crop in those: Whiteboard makes it all nice and flat, and load-shares the weight: And plants go on top: And DD the last to slot in (the driest at 11.6kg) so I need access to water, and she's got the longest flowering (63-70 days, we're on Day 63 today): Cut a stem out of the middle of Nebula today (13.6kg) to give her some space in the middle, and to give me some Nebula bud to smoke this weekend when there's likely going to be a lot of work harvesting: Happy Growing & Smoking!
  24. Day 62 of Flowering. Camera flash only as lights came on this morning. Colouring up nicely. Top left: DD; top right: Sensi Star; middle: Nebula; bottom left: Ice Cream: bottom right: Jacky White. Nebula is on drying-out-countdown-to-be-cut. Monday or Tuesday. Happy Growing!
  25. Hi @OG.Naj, My watering strategy for 5 & 6 is very light 0.36ec/180ppm/6.0ph watering (aired tap water only) when below base weight to get to just above their respective base weights. 5 & 6 seems to be liking this approach. 5 & 6 will likely get re-potted into 11l pots tomorrow. 5 & 6 have a media containing more perlite than M & 3, and this seems to be working well, ie, liking it very dry, so I'll continue this in the 11l pots. M & 3 I think are in dodgy media, ie, I think that the media I prepared has gone bad somehow. The rest of that media, I've donated to my vegetable patch. M & 3 have been below their base weights for a few days and have been given just a splash of 180ppm aired tap water. They are now below their base weights again (200g) and will get leached tonight (8pm, their lights on) with 4 x pot size 180ppm solution and then left to completely dry out again. Happy Growing!

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
