  1. Hi @g22, I think you're right to add a little Calcium as per GHF instructions, as Magnesium is included in the Power Feeding, but Calcium (which is sold separately) is not. Happy Growing!
  2. Hi @I'm Sal, "How are you finding your new ViparSpectra @ShaggyGrower? " I've stopped using it on the WR grow as I had so many issues I went back to what (think) I know (blue CFL 125w). Many of the issues were non-light related (H2O2, alkalinity, germination), but I don't feel comfortable guesstimating LED height above those damaged plants - just adds another level of concern for me. I've come across such a range of best-heights, it's utterly confused me. The 300w ViparSpectra is now sitting over DD in my other grow (16 inches - a guess) [see below]. It's the plant furthest from the 660wHPS (as I've angled and placed that light not central to cope with the height of JW). Happy Growing!
  3. Day-tripping to the living room window. A nice sunny day today. I'm getting 1807 (x100, so 180,700) lux, or so says my measuring device, so figured that was good light. Saves a bit on electricity as well M & 3 at their base weight (3.6kg) so will give 200ml of tap water each (boiled & sat for a bit, so has some calcium, etc, rather than rain water as I've emptied out my indoor water butt for cleaning). 5 is just under base weight, so will get 100ml. 6 will get 50ml. Happy Growing!
  4. Well, an eventful few days since the last update. Things I have learned: You may very well mix your calmag, but you need to check the ph before applying as it DID go more alkaline with time. Started in the bottle at 6.25, and ended up at 8.1 after a week! Once I'd clocked the above, and given the plants some fresh & properly ph'd water (and back under blue 125w CFL), they started growing happy again. Granted, they still look very damaged/abused.
  5. Hi @AceBlaze, 3 feet (36 inches) is a long way away. We have @I'm Sal working with LED's on the competition that's going on, and he's getting great results at 25 inches [1] very early (seedling) and at 10 inches after ~3 weeks [2]. Such recommended distance (I think Vipar recommend 24 inches generally) variations are one reason I feel uncomfortable with LED's. Regs, Bob [1] -
  6. Very nice @evolution666. If I was them, I'd be happy.
  7. 10/02/2018 Last day Dragon Force for Nebula & DD DD 12.6kg 1.4l 6.25ph 2480ppm 24.2c ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 14.0kg wet - OK Day 5 of Dragon Nebula 13.4kg 0.6l 6.25ph 2480ppm 24.2c ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 14.0kg wet - OK Day 5 of Dragon JW 13.9kg 1.1l 6.25ph 2480ppm 24.2c ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 15.0kg wet - OK Day 3 of Dragon IC 13.4kg 0.6l 6.25ph 2480ppm 24.2c ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 14.0kg wet - OK Day 0 of Dragon SS 12.7kg 1.2l 6.25ph 2480ppm 24.2c ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 13.7kg wet - OK Day 1 of Dragon M 3.7kg (3.6kg is base dry weight just out of the bag, so perhaps 3.5kg is realy dry weight) 3 3.7kg (3.6kg is base dry weight) 5 800g It's day 5 of 5 for the use of Dragon Force with DD & Nebula. When they get very dry (10-11kg, ~2-3 days), I shall be leaching/flushing with ~30l for each pot (a pot holds ~ 10l of liquid, so a x3 flush). When dry again, it's just 125ppm of rain water with a little calmag. Still deciding whether to do anything special at the end such as cold/ice water mega flushes, 48 hours of darkness, etc. Not feeding/watering as I used to, ie, to get run off. Just giving a litre or so from near the bottom of the weigh range so they're pretty dry when they receive the ~EC1.0 of nutes and slurp them up (hopefully). The nearer I get to harvest, well, deciding when it's two weeks to go, the more nervous I get - not wanting to harvest too early. Happy Growing!
  8. The bottle was labelled "H2O2". I forgot my Rule Number 1: Never, EVER, go near your plants with feed, scissors, etc (only eyes) when stoned, EVER!
  9. Hi @g22. It was HP @ 11.99% diluted down to ~3%, fortunately. M & 3 were showing signs of damage before the HP (burn I think). Fingers crossed!
  10. Follow me, like me, and spank me sideways. lol Imv there are good stresses and bad stresses. A type of good stress is LST and topping. These usually result in INCREASED yields as there will likely be more flowering points come flower. Other types of stress are not good, such as nutrient burn / nutrient deficiency. They will lower yield by slowing the plant down somewhat. Happy Growing!
  11. Yes. PPM is one, ph is another. You would want to flush if your ppm is way too high, or if your ph is very much out of range for your media (ie, too acidic or too alkaline). I'm coming to realize that the instructions the feed companies give for dosage of nutes, is usually a bit high. The maxim 'Less is More' works well with cannabis. Ie, better to give too few nutes than too many. Much easier to feed a little more, than to have to flush that whole pot and disturb the media because one has over fed them.
  12. With that media, I don't think it's necessary to flush once a week, especially if your putting unfiltered raw honey (molasses?) in it. I've been discussing 'flushing' on another forum, and there are different type of flushes for different thing. Additionally, what many term 'flushing', is actually 'leaching'. Flushing, like with the toilet, gets rid of as much as possible (nutes/salts wise from the media), leaching is similar but merely reduces the amounts of nutes/salts in the media. In your media, it's good to get a little run off in the saucer so you can then test it with a ph pen and a TDS/PPM/CF pen. A good media level of nutes should result in the input figure (a measure of your feeding solution) being very similar to the run off figure. So if you're feeding 750ppm with a ph of 6.5, the run off should be similar. As you're adding molasses, I think you're trying to feed the microbes in the soil with that. Flushing lots of water through the pot would disturbed them imv, so unless you have a very high ppm / dodgy ph, you do not really want to 'flush', merely 'leach' a little for measurement. I'm a newbie as well, so double check the above. Happy Growing!
  13. Run off water with added calmag is a good idea imv, it's something I forgot (the calmag) and I think I got a calcium lockout in my current grow. Around 200ppm of calmag is apparently enough. 8 gallon pots is 30l, so a good size pot imv (I like big pots, others like smaller ones). What make/model is your feed? What's your growing media made up of? (Coco, soil, perlite, Canna, Biobiz, etc etc, and their ratios) Flushing imv is dependent on media. Anything that comes out of the bottom of the pot I measure for ph and ppm. I also throw the liquid on my garden so as not to waste the nutes in it. Never let your pot sit in a saucer that has water in it or that can drown the roots & cause root rot. Happy Growing!
  14. FYI, I have a 660w HPS in my tent and I keep the tops of my plants ~20 inches away. Only Jacky White seems to get a little hot, the others at the same distance are 5 degrees C cooler, so I think that is genetic.
  15. I'm just finishing my first full indoor grow [1] so have been in a similar boat and had similar questions In the last two weeks for me. Happy Growing! [1] -

  17. Yes, completely sealed is great as with your fan it should create a negative pressure, ie, pushing more air out than is coming in. Your fan will such in the sides of your tent (if it is sealed). This is good (as long as it not too much and your tent collapses inward) as it means smells, etc, should not escape.
  18. Hi @CHIEFcent, Found this which might help: Required extractor fan size in CFM= Volume of active growing space (ft) x 1.33 http://www.just4growers.com/stream/ventilation-and-environmental-control/how-to-calculate-the-size-of-your-extraction-fan.aspx Based on the above, I make the calculation for your area: 232.75, so your 440 is better than that. Happy Growing!
  19. After realising the damage I did yesterday, and additionally not having complete confidence that I know how to use the 200w LED yet (distances), I've switched back to the 125w blue CFL to go-with-what-I-know through this difficult period (which granted, is not a lot). While M & 3 are not happy, I think they will survive & flourish.
  20. Highlander looks lovely @LedCherryBerry, well done!
  21. Oops, 'M' looking sad: Realised the folar spray bottle I was using for two days was the H2O2 3% cleaning bottle! DOH!!! What a muppet!
  22. Hi @Jose.gh, Thanks. By all means come here for a field trip/tasting session/meet up. Happy Growing!
  23. So I begin the final two weeks stage. Wet weight is ~21kg and dry ~ 11kg, so I'm going to feed an EC of 1.0 made up of 0.250 of rain run off water with a little added calmag, and EC0.75 of Shogun Dragon Force [1] and add a days worth of slurpings (~1.3/0.6l depending on plant) for 5 days. Notes: 08/0/2018 - Day 52 of flowering. Just indoor waterbutt water (EC 0.252) and Dragon force to bring it up to EC 1.0 (500ppm) DD 13.8kg 2.4l 6.32ph 488ppm 23.2c 0ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 16.2kg wet - OK Nebula 13.9kg 1.9l 6.32ph 488ppm 23.2c 0ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 15.8kg wet - OK JW 14.1kg 2.1l 6.32ph 488ppm 23.2c 0ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 16.2kg wet - OK IC 15.2kg l ph ppm c ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 15.2kg wet - OK SS 13.8kg 1l 6.32ph 488ppm 23.2c 0ml-12%HP in, ph ppm c l out 14.8kg wet - OK [1] - "Providing a final and decisive boost to your plants before harvest, SHOGUN Dragon Force is an expertly formulated final flowering feed designed to be used in the final two weeks before harvest."
  24. Had a re-think and at day 18, figured M and 3 needed a little sleep/dark period, so popped them in a warm closet with air movement for 6 hours. H202'd the propagation tent as per one of Franco's tips while it was empty. So, WR lights off for 18/6 will be from 1pm-7pm to fit with the first-to-know-what-I'm-growing schedule. 5 & 6 still on 24/7. Happy Growing!
  25. Jacky White and Dutch Dragon are both 75% Sativa. Nebula 60% Sativa. Ice Cream 60% Indica. Sensi Star 90% Indica. JW is 30cm taller than the rest. The ONLY difference between Jacky White and the rest was "JW has joined DD & Nebula in big 46 litre pots. I ran out of Coco Pro and Tropic Bat Mix so used some Coco Pro and some Micacle Gro (& Perlite).". So, Miracle Grow causes stretching? I'm leaning that way. If so, something handy to know for usually short bushy plants, to give them a little height maybe. Might stick some in one of the WR for a test ;-).

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
