  1. I actually just bought a 336x pro and 189 x pro for my grow space costing me 3500$ ,the area is only 6 x 6 and I plan to put the panels on light movers as the new lens do give excellent penetration but they do limit canopy size. Anyways added a couple pics of the growing space and the 2 panels running on 3w setting as the new HGL penetrators have a .5 1 and 3w power setting.
  2. Actually got an email the other day asking for what strain i want to test and asking for my name and address so they can send me the seeds and nutes I am assuming that this means I was choosen for the official seed test so going with klashnikova .
  3. Well presently I have a Great white shark and an El nino Fem Growing was going to veg then a month while my present crop of meds is maturing turns out my friend has given me a 12 week strain of sativa so I have a lot of extra time anyways plan is to grow them up take cuttings and then with these and cuttings from the indica strain that is grown by health canada gonna grow the 3 strains together and see how HC strain compares when grown with care and not dried out to 14% water content and then milled into dust. But if either of the 2 strains herms will post and let ya know if I have any herm issues.
  4. Well you do have to take into account that one male plant can easily polinate females in every direction for miles for instance I remember reading an old high times magazine and they did an article about how the pollen from the marijuana in the rif valley would carry in high enough quantities that the closest city which is about 60miles away has pollen warnings for marijuana alone. So I would think that a single male could polinate a female plant within 5 miles and if you take into account birds and bee's carrying pollen to other plants the range becomes huge. I only recently got my Health Canada Personal use production licence and I wish I had applied to produce indoors and outdoors but I think I may have it amended for next summer as I have found a friend who owns a farm who is willing to let me grow on his property , He has an old dog kennel that has a chainlink top on it he said i can use it is 50 x 50 x 8 tall and can easily be electrified for security and I was thinking I would add some cameras as well as a motion detector. The only thing that makes me hesitant is the fact where he lives there are a lot of growers in the area and its gonna be very likely I will end up with seeds every year
  5. I always wonder if your growing in promix bx do you shoot for a ph of 6.5 or would a ph closer to 6.0-6.2 be more appropriate for the medium? I only ask as 6.2 ph is the standard ph of promix after 7 days of water saturation it will stabalize so just wondering if for the future would you add dolomite to promix if you leave it as is or if only if you cut it down with perlite to allow for better drainage the excess perlite will lower the overal CEC of the medium .
  6. Feminised seeds will always have a place in a small grow if you only have room to keep 4 plants max and no space for a mother then feminised seeds are the way to go but if you have enough room to keep mothers and propogate cuttings then your making the biggest mistake of your life growing feminised as your mothers will eventually hermaphrodite especially if your like me and like to keep Bonsai moms the whole idea of a bonsai is stress which is used to keep the plant in a dwarfed state , I only say this as every bonsai mom I ever kept developed tiny leaves and only after cutting from the original plant and vegging for a week or so do they start to grow normal size leaves again. I just cant believe that forcing any plant to grow into a miniature version of itself cant place an enormous amount of stress upon the plant the best thing about bonsai moms however is if they last more then 2 years and never show a hint of hermaphrodisim then you have a strain worth of attempting to hermanised but if it cant survive 2 years minimum then it was always a hermaphrodite which just hadnt reached its stress threshold. I personally when growing a new strain use a extremely simple regime to determine its characteristics and at the same time experiment with ph swings not into levels that would cause lockouts or deficencies but .5 swings taking my ph from 6.2 to 6.7 in soil I feel the large ph swing is an excelent way to test a plants stress threshold if it herms just from ph swings then obviously it is a strain that has a tendency towards herming more then retaining its female standing. After ph swings I experiment with temp and humidity, but it is a process that takes a very long time . But I trully believe that untill you stress your plants on purpose and keep track of the results you cant really say you know what your strain is capable of its easy to take care of healthy plants but the real skill is caring for a sick plant and bringing it back to health without damaging its genetics.
  7. Hi all presently in the process of getting my canadian mmar exemption and was given a gift from a friend of all the equipment needed to set up a grow room with 1000w switchable balast ,air cooled reflector fans carbon filter and all the equipment to make 2 nursery rooms one for seedlings and rooting cuttings and the second for giving rooted cuttings and week old seedlings some time to get used to increased power of lights example is the seedling / rooting area is lighted by a 4' x 4 43w flourescent bulbs at 6500k and the nursery for the week old and fully rooted cuts has a 150w cfl at 6500k in a bright wing reflector. My main question is I was also gifted a range of fairly decent genetics for when I get started. These consists of White widow feminized, himalayain gold fem, super silver haze fem, then regular jack herrer, super crystal and armmegedo what I am wondering is which of these strains would be the best for me to start out with as it will be my first grow in doors actually for that matter it will be my first grow in 14 years. So of these strains which would be the best to go with and are there any pheno's whos traits you can describe for me to keep a look out for so that I can make sure I take a cutting of it for a mother plant so any information about if any of these strains have pheno;s of exceptional quality wich can be identified without a smoke test I would appreciate any tips you can provide me once again the strains I have are white widow super silver haze himalayain gold jack herrer armeggon and super crystal
  8. Hey there I am new here just found a link to this site from treatingyourself.com thought I would introduce myself . Presently I am a disabled man living just outside of toronto have been suffering from chronic pain due to a hit and run mva 11 years ago and presently I am in the process of trying to obtain my canadian MMAR exemption so i can use cannabis for my pain as I find when I ingest it ,it actually provides me with superior pain relief then I ever got from opiate treatments which only seemed to mess me up to the point i didnt know what was going on around me let alone care .But with cannabis I cna actually feel a difference as it releives the muscle spasms wich seem to be the cause of the majority of my pain almost as if once they muscles start to clench they cause the damaged vertebrae to release what i would describe as lighting like bolts of pain but once I ingest 1-1.5 grams of cannabis i have great relief for 3-5 hours depending on the potency of the strain. As i said i am outside toronto and my gp supports my decision to pursue my exemption but as she has never had any experience with cannabis either medically or recreationally so has no idea what is a proper amount to prescribe so is looking for DR;s with greater knowledge to refer me to so as to get my initial papers submitted and my dose fairly close to where It will remain at which point she will take over with renewals and if there is any need of small increases she can handle that so if you are a MMAR licence holder in the toronto area if you are able to and feel comfortable sharing your Dr's name and location it would be much appreciated so I can pass them on to my Dr so she can make a referal for me .

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
