You sound much older than I am, but from my experience I have only seen opium which is brown. I have tried opium before but won't try it again as it is too addictive. And it's highly illegal so be careful.

Does anybody agree with me? This knowledge comes from my own experimentation. The higher the CBD ration in the weed, the less emotional attachment you have to it. Emotional attachment is not a good thing. That's why when I smoke certain Sativas I feel really emotionally attached, and when I smoke Indicas it hits me hard and I feel less emotionally attached to the feeling. So when you choose a strain, even if you like upfull Sativas, try to get something with a resonable amount of CBD in it.

Himalayas is in North India. I heard that good South Indian strains come from Kerela, in the Western Ghats.

Greetings there. I have a question which i have been wondering for some time. I come from the northern hemisphere at about 18 degree latitude. My only experience of growing is with pure landrace sativas, which begin showing flowers in early september and finish in early to mid november. Some phenotypes even go until midway through december. This is good because it the rainy season ends in october, and so we don't get problems of wet weather during the harvest time. Since there are only sativas in my country, I'm thinking of growing some indicas to have something exotic for a change. But I want to make it worth my while. From my understanding, the indica dominant strains begin flowering at a much longer photoperiod time than that sativas do. In my country, even in the summer solistice we only have about 13 hours of daylight. And so a plant that matures in mid october in europe, will actually mature earlier in my region? This is not good because it means it will be maturing during the wet months. The short photoperiod means that the indicas will want to go directly from seedling to bud, is that right? I have seen pictures of some indica strains grown in Jamaica, and they were so short and stubby and only yeild like 2 ounces.(hence the name goat shit weed, I believe) I want to grow something like church, big bang, or white widow, but don't think it will be worth it if it only yeilds that much. Anyone had experience with growing indicas in the tropics? What month did u plant? What month did you harvest? What was the yeild like? Should i just stick to the haze/sativa varieties? Your advice would be much appreciated. Toker.

I heard that NZ and Australian strains are strong because there is such a thin ozone layer here which gives u sunburn very fast. So the plants produce more resin to protect themselves from the UV rays.

Laos is a good place to go. It is a very poor country and in some parts of the country farmers are scared to farm becuase there are unexploded bombs (UXOs). THese bombs are left over from the vietnam war and continues to kill and injure people till this day. Laos exports to neighouring countries ( a lot of the bud smoked by Thais in Thailand is actually imported from Laos). I think Laos has a long history of cannibis cultivation by the tribes. This is the region where we get name "Bong" which means a bamboo tube - used for carrying water or smoking . - so this is evidence that ganja is part of the culture of many ethnic groups. The Lao people recognize the medicinal properties of cannabis as a very good treatment for diaorehoa. The most popular way for consuming ganja is to boil it in the chicken soup. Sadly the younger generation of today has forgotten about cannabis, and abandon it for things like methamphetamines and liquor - not knowing that the best medicine of all is at their doorstep. Yes man, Laos weed is very good. But the govt is very strict and would be dangerous to film there. Continue promoting it. Jah Bless.

Thailand is good. But for the real good one from that region i think you have to go to Laos. During the Vietnam war a lot of the ganja smoked there actually came from Laos. My favourite strain.
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
