True...es verdad. The number of the population set determines the likelihood of capturing interesting F1 offspring and carrying forward their genetics into the subsequent F2 generations. By crossing back to the original P1 'mother' via selfing, seeds can then be harvested with a greater likelihood of establishing desired traits. Until we have pin-point accuracy throughout the Cannabis sativa L genome, time tested techniques that incorporate permutative Mendelian breeding skills will prevail slowly. But, the day is coming where a map from the common rice plant may identify 90% of the biomachinery of Cannabis sativa L leaving the remaining 10% of the plant genome eligible for genetic 'tweeking'. For example, scaling up biologically to produce isolated terpenes on an industrial scale is a current target of further 'Super Lemon Haze' research. In the interim, enjoy the creation!
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
