  1. Hey guys, welcome to my grow journal for the Outdoor World Cup! Originally i thought about starting this journal after my seeds arrived. But they are not here yet and it is June/15. I ordered the free kit with power feeding. So I do not know yet which strain i am going to get. But i can give you already some information about the equipment i will use for the seedlings and early vegetative phase indoor. Lets start with the room. My tent from Grow Lab is called GL 100. It has an area of 1 square meter (100cmx100cm) and is 2 meters tall. Inside there is a reflective foil everywhere. You have a lot of holes for you your air and water tubes or for cables. From the outside it is black and it offers you two windows to watch your plants while the tent is closed. Like that you can make sure that your air circulation stays as usual. The air circulation is made by a System Air RKV 200E2-A1 LTI as outtake that has about 770 m³/h. For the intake there is a small axial fan. The System Air fan is connected to a cooltube reflector called Sputnik. I have the large one with a 150mm connector. This reflector is really awesome. It is cool and really big. The surface is covered with a nice reflective material. Compared to other reflectors the Sputnik offers the most light in the middle of the reflector. It has the perfect size for 1 m². The reflector is already a nice tool to keep the temperature low. But for the perfect adjustment I use a G SE Fan Controller that offers me to the fan speed, the temperature, the humidity and the negative pressure. The intake fan as well as the outtake fan are connected to it. The electrical power for the light inside the reflector comes from a Lumatek ballast. The Lumatek is one of the new generation ballasts that are more efficient and allow you to change the W. In my case i can switch between 400W, 400W SL, 600W and 600 W SL. SL means Super Lumen and should increase the power by 10%. So it is 400W, 440W, 600W, 660W. The ballast will run a 400W MH light with 440W/400W LS. The soil i use is called BioBizz Light Mix. Allright! That´s my setup! Now I have to wait for the seeds! As soon as they arrive i will start germinating them. And ofcourse i will take pictures and use them in my next update for you guys! Feel free to comment and to ask questions! aeroguy
  2. I ordered it on amazon. It works rather well for a small consistent garden of 4 plants or so. Its a High Pressure Sodium Bulb 150w with 1600 lumens fer square foot.Almost orange pink light eminates from its almost foot long bulb. High Amount of light. Decent temperture with vented ballast. Its not a digital ballst so it only works with HPS Bulbs, but it does have alot of penetrating light for dense veg growth . 70 bucks and it included the light bulb and hanging racks. In my opinion this model is extremely well built and durable with steel rivets keeping its metal reflector held together. Has removable reflectors that reflect high percentage of light. On off switch is also on the back side. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4177PzrBH%2BL._SX425_.jpg
  3. Pertaining to cannabis, here's in brief the sorry excuse for a "progressive" narcotics law reformation that the domestic Troika concocted: - "up to" 5 months imprisonment for growing for personal use - bunch of vaguely defined (and impossible to scientifically quantify) criteria for the court to determine the personal nature of the use - vaguely defined discretionary power for a court to assess the offense as "circumstantial" and "unlikely" to be repeated, and thus spare the perpetrator from the penalty - any such penalty does not register in a person's criminal record - it's 8 years to life though, should the regime wish to turn you into a scapegoat, for some reason (and, trust me, there ARE plenty of those currently in Greece - especially political ones) (link to the official text in greek: http://www.et.gr/ido...spVR1UrURETkoE.) ========= Regimes still need their "leveraging" mechanisms in place, to bend the will of the occasional "thorn on their side" that threatens their dominance of the recreational drug trade. Noting some particular key words of the latest bill makes me sad, realising how much political clout the ultra-far-right societal backwash, that constitutes the electoral base of the ruling parties, still wield: "narcotics" - ALL substances are lumped together. The total disregard, for the large corpus of pharmacological and biochemical scientific knowledge on recreational chemical substances, is staggering. "perpetrator" - Now, who's been a naughty, naughty little boy, "perpetrating"...stuff in the closet, hmm? 8-D "life sentence" - Oh, the hypocricy of people patronising the masses by pretending that they are saving them from themselves!
  4. What's your favorite sort of system to grow in? "Organics without a doubt. I prefer peat-free compost and organic nutrients. Hydroponics is effective but cannabis is uniquely smoked and I don’t like the idea of using aggressive chemicals that may leave a residue in the plant material". MEL THOMAS. Materials used in peat-free compost Wood Most peat-free composts contain wood-based materials as their primary ingredient, e.g. woodfibre, composted bark, sawdust, wood or paper waste. Wood-based mixes can be tailored to the requirements of most plants as they have excellent drainage properties as well as a low pH. Coir Coconut fibre or ‘coir’ is mainly imported from Sri Lanka. Coir is a waste product. It has excellent natural water-holding ability and a sufficient mix of fine and coarse fibres to hold air in its pore spaces, making it a good growing medium. It does not hold nutrients well, however. The environmental credentials of coir-based products are questioned due to the distance they must be transported to the UK, but this is balanced out by the fact that it is a genuine waste material. Green Compost Many Local Authorities and private companies are collecting and composting green waste, the resultant green compost tends to have a high nutrient content and a high pH making it an excellent soil improver or mulch. There is an industry standard (British Standards Institution PAS100) for green compost that enforces consistent and regulated processing in order to encourage its use in potting composts. Due to its high pH and high levels of nutrients, green compost tends to be mixed with other materials to make potting compost – it is usually no more than 30 per cent of the overall product. Do you have any idea about how to mix? Can you see better results of yield, taste, potency? Let's chat...

  7. A technique which I have heard works well. say you have 5 plants in a line, over 5 metres. drill hole at the bottom of a large container, (water container for camping, large bucket) and, so air tight put a 6 metre length of hose in it. hang this about a foot or more of the ground at the start of the line. assuming you have planted directly into the ground, run the hose across the 5 planting areas, and at the end put a bamboo stick in the ground. tape the end of the hose to this, most of the way down the stick so the hose is vertical at that end. with large U shaped nails sercure the hose over the growing areas by putting U shaped nails over the pipe inbetween each site, so flat against the earth. with a pin, make 2 -4 tiny holes over all the spots, and block the end of the hose attached to the bamboo. fill container with water and cover with leaves , branches, bushy bit so its not so obvious over head. return every 2 weeks with more water and nutrients pre mixed? any good? what can make it better , keeping costs to basically nothing?

  10. Hey all just received 9 x Damnesia Seeds in the mail from GHS - Much love to you guys for the seeds and making this possible - I was impressed to note that although customs definitely inspected the package all was well I will be starting my grow journal in about 10 days as I am busy setting up my room again after some time and have Six Cheese in there finishing off flowering. I will be vegging under 400w HPS and Flowering under 2200w HPS I will be using coco / perlite / vermiculite mix and hand watering. It is also possible I may do a side by side in Autopots with the powder feeding as well. I am very excited to start this competition and about this strain. To start off here are some pics of the damage done by customs...enjoy
  11. Cannabis factory couple who gave away their £400,000 drug-dealing fortune to poor Kenyan village are jailed for three years Pair paid for life-saving surgery, computers in a hospital and schooling 'Most unusual cannabis growing case of its type', says prosecutor Couple, in their 60s, visited village near coastal town of Mombasa regularly By Larisa Brown A couple who ran a cannabis factory and spent their fortune on helping poor African families and charities have been jailed. Michael Foster, 62, and Susan Cooper, 63, made £400,000 by illegally growing hundreds of plants at their farmhouse home during a six-year operation. But instead of pocketing the money, they spent a large proportion of it on people in a Kenyan village - paying for life-saving surgery, computers for an eye hospital and schooling for poor children. Jailed: Michael Foster, left, and Susan Copper, right, spent the majority of their money made from selling cannabis grown in their farmhouse home on poor people living in a Kenyan village When the pair, from Lincolnshire, were not helping people in Kenya, they were living an incredible double life selling wholesale kilo deals of cannabis to a local drugs baron. Although the Judge appeared impressed with their good work, they were jailed for three years at Lincoln Crown Court. Prosecutor Jon Dee told the court Foster and Cooper’s life was the 'most unusual cannabis growing case of its type'. He added: 'This couple were both in their 60s and were of previous good character. 'For six years they produced cannabis in significant quantities. This was a professional and commercial set up.' Gareth Wheetman, representing Foster, said. 'The very fact they were repeatedly flying off to Kenya in itself required money but the evidence demonstrates much of the money was being put to charitable and good use.' Cooper’s lawyer, Chris Milligan, added: 'Susan Cooper is a good person who has done a bad thing. There is another side to her. In 2004 the couple converted two buildings on their farm in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire into a cannabis factory 'When a young adult called Wilson got a gangrenous infection in his leg he was given two days to live. She paid for that treatment.' The court heard how the couple were regular visitors to a village in the Kwale district, near the tourist coastal town of Mombasa, Kenya. The couple told police much of the money they illegally obtained was spent helping the local people they met. They used the money to pay for life-saving surgery for people in the village and schooling for the children (file photo) Diani Beach, a tourist hotspot in the Kwale District of Kenya, not too far from where the couple visited regularly Jailing the couple, Judge Sean Morris told them: 'You were growing it on a significant scale, jetting off to Kenya on it. 'Lots of money was going into your bank accounts, over a number of years hundreds of thousands went in. 'I am sure you were doing good things in Kenya with your drugs money, whether that was to appease your consciences I can only speculate.' In 2004 Foster and Cooper converted two buildings on their farm in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, into a cannabis factory, where they grew hundreds of illegal plants and sold kilos of the drug to a local dealer. Police only caught the couple by accident when an officer, who happened to stumble across their home while pursuing a burglar nearby, smelled the cannabis. Inside police found 159 cannabis plants, worth an estimated £20,000. Two of the buildings had been converted into a growing room and drying room. Officers also recovered £20,000 in £1,000 bundles from a carrier bag. Foster and Cooper were arrested and interviewed following the raid in June 2010. Mr Dee added: 'At the time this couple were completely off the police radar. They were caught completely by chance.' When the officer knocked on the farmhouse door Cooper, a divorcee, answered. She replied 'Yes I do' when the officer asked if she knew why he was there. The couple admitted four charges of producing cannabis and a single offence of possessing criminal cash. copied and pasted from - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2219477/Cannabis-factory-couple-gave-400-000-drug-dealing-fortune-poor-Kenyans-jailed-years.html Peace Lams

  14. Just a quick update on the developments with the Powder Feeding: The website is almost ready, Admin and Papasmurf are working hard on it. It's going to be a webshop for retail customers and also a hub for info on the product, including test-grows and reviews. The product will be officially launched during the Spannabis Expo (24-25-26 February, Barcelona, Spain) and we will distribute samples to several distributors and shops. In March we will start sales (both online and through growshops in Europe). A special thanks goes to our lab-team, who worked for years on this project (and who's going to work on it for years to come.....). And, of course, to our test-growers who helped verifying the progresses we made. I am very excited about this. It's been a long, sometimes stressful work, but the final results are well worth it. I have never seen my plants as happy as they are with the Powder Feeding. And when my plants are happy, I am happy. ;-)
  15. Hallo at all, here my first indoor Grow report 400 watt bloom hps plagron light mix guanokolong + kalong grow + kalong bloom 18/6
  16. Hey Guys, This is my first ever grow and I must say it has been going surprisingly smoothly so far. I started with a GH Kalashnikova seed and a White widow seed. Germination was extremely quick with the Widow, taking only about 20 hours. The Kalash was slightly longer with about 2 days germination time. I planted them both in soil/natural fertilizer mixes and put them in my stealth PC case. The case was running on about 115W of CFL for early growth, later to be bumped up to 400W. I am loving these CFL bulbs as they emit very little heat and seem to do a decent job with vegetative growth. Unfortunately I don't have pictures from the really early stages of growth but here are the plants about 2-3 weeks from seed. They are extremely fast growing, especially the Widow. I am even LSTing her at this point to keep her the same height as the Kalash: Widow: Kalash: As of right now, I have the plants on Day 5 of flowering, and they have not yet shown their sex but I feel that it's close. I've done a tiny bit of trimming since these pictures were taken: Widow (Isn't it becoming a beast): The top of the Widow: My LST of the Widow: The Kalash (She is not taking the transition period as nicely as the Widow, but still very healthy, The roughed edges of some leaves are from being pushed by the small space of the case.): Stay tuned for more hopefully
  17. They are about two weeks old I believe. Lmk how I'm doing guys. Any advice is appreciated
  18. Hey everyone! First post I've made, so figured it should be a good one. I'm currently growing a White Widow from Nirvana, feminized seed, shes gonna be 3 weeks old from the day I planted her on 10/6. She was germed by the good ole paper towel method until she grew the round leaves then planted her. I've got a few pics so far and wanted to share em with you. Light: 600-watt HPS/MH - she's currently under the metal halide for veg Nutes: Fox Farm 3-part liquid & powder regiment Soil: Generic all purpose potting mix/perlite mixture Started out just using the Big Bloom (thought at first, why should I use anything bloom in veg. But I'm just following the feeding schedule on Fox Farms website. The Tiger Bloom you only use during flowering I know.) And I've just started adding the Grow Big in with it now, and I've got to say, I think it's looking pretty damn good so far. On to the pics...... A few days after I planted her: Took these today 10/4: Look how close the nodes are growing together: I'm going to be updating this thread as I go along. Going to try to take at least bi-weekly pictures of it and share it with you all. Been really busy with work lately, that's why there is such a big gap between the seedling picture and the ones at 3 weeks. This is really a test run right now. I just bought a new light and the nutes and I've got some GHS Chemdog that I'm going to do a harvest of. But I'm trying everything out with this White Widow first, then if everythings okay, gonna do a few of the Chemdog. **Also, I read somewhere that the last two weeks of flowering for the White Widow, if you turn the lights out completely, it will make the trichomes to explode into some massive growth and give up some extra THC. Can anyone confirm/debunk this? I'll dig up the link. Thanks for checking out my grow. Let me know what you think. Good and bad.

  21. High Guys, Does anyone of you guys got an experience with the dark cycle? Dark cycle is putting your plants for the last 1-4 days before harvesting in complete darkness for 24 hours, that should increase the resin production and make the plant more potent. I am thinking for putting my Ladies for the last 3 days in the Darkness cycle, so any recommendations are appreciated. The strain of my beauties are " The Doctor" from GHS. Best Wishes

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
