  1. Strain hunters! I'm in South East Asia and I got my hands on some sativa seeds. Just the local brickweed. IDK maybe I can find some in the jungle or something, but there's lions lol jp. I been trying to get access to find plants and take pics, but for a good reason everyone is paranoid. Especially when it's a white guy in a place where I stick out like a sore thumb. Anyone like these strains?
  2. Hello! Do anyone having information about cannabis jobs in EU, particulary Spain. I really want to move to EU and develop my skills in growing and everything connected with cannabis. Has a little experience. My dream is to buy some land in Spain, far from cities and to make eco farm - growing vegetables and fruits to eat and cannabis to sell and smoke. So if someone share my views it would be great to talk and to discuss. Peace.

  4. Hi good day fellow weed lovers.Where and what is the best information out their on cannabis growing? That will take a beginner to expert in cannabis grow.
  5. What if I told you that increasing the potency of your favorite strains was as easy as hanging up a few 20 watt florescent lights? To good to be true? More like too true not to do. It turns out the same thing baking your skin at the beach can make prized buds swell with THC. Ultra-violet (UV) light has the power to turn a good strain into a real head-knocker. What Is UV Light? At this point you might be asking, "how is UV light different from normal light?" Even though humans can't see it, a good way to think of UV is to visualize a rainbow and pretend there is an extra color band past the blue and purple. All light is basically just waves of energy, and UV light is just like any other form of radiation. These waves wash over your plants at different frequencies (how many waves pass per second). UV light has a smaller gap between each wave than visible light, which means more waves are passing per second. This gives UV high energy, making it more like an X-ray than a radio wave. How Does UV Light Effect Marijuana Plants? But what does all this mean to your cannabis garden? To answer that, we need to investigate how UV light affects plants cells. Ultra-violet radiation, particularly UVB, has been shown to be detrimental to plant cell function. UV causes damage to plant cells in the same way it tears through your skin, eventually causing sunburn. As a result of this damage, all plants have created defenses against UV in the form of gene UVR8. UVR8 is a protein molecule which senses UV all by itself, and then "tells" plant cells to change their behavior. Exactly how UVR8 molecules sense UV was recently discovered and is pretty interesting. UVR8 is what chemists call a "dimer." which just means that it's made of two structurally similar protein subunits. When UV light hits the two protein subunits in UVR8, their charge weakens and they break apart. To help visualize this, imagine rubbing two balloons against one another. The balloons will stick together because of a static charge. Now imagine the balloons get rained on. The water takes the static charge with it and the two balloons fly apart. In this example, the balloons are the two protein subunits and the rain is UV light cascading down on the plant cell. After the protein subunits break apart, they head to the cell nucleus to deliver their information. More UV Can Mean More THC One of these changes caused by this information is very important in your cannabis garden. UV stress stimulates cannabis' production of chemicals via the phenylpropanoid pathway, specifically malonyl-CoA and phenylalanine. Why is this important? It's important because cannabis uses malonyl-CoA to make Olivtol, which it in turn uses to make THC. Now we can see the specific pathway which cannabis uses to increase potency when exposed to UV light. UV light is already present in your garden, but it's being blocked by the special glass your bulb is made of. Lamp manufacturers must use this type of glass by law because UV light can cause skin cancer when humans are overexposed. You wouldn't want everyone getting cancer from street lights would you? You can increase the amount of UV getting to your cannabis by mixing metal halide bulbs into your bloom room and leaving the glass off your air-cooled hoods. But a better and safer way is to buy and install cheap fluorescent UV lights. Remember, UV light causes stress to the plant, so put the fluorescents on timers and only have them on for part of the light cycle. Having them on for fifteen minutes of every hour should do the trick. The only downside of this whole process is that yields go down slightly. The plant has to reroute resources and undergoes some physical damage from the UV. As long as you don't overdo the UV the increase in quality is well worth the decrease in yield. 9. Terribly sick persons can in the future obtain Cannabis paid for by the state's medical insurance, as long as they cannot be helped by other means. The decision in the German Parliament was made unanimously (today). But the personal growing of Cannabis in Germany remains forbidden. Here's the link. Sorry, it is still in German, but I can't wait to share this with you all. We should celebrate this. Forward progress occurs one step at a time. http://www.heute.de/einstimmiger-beschluss-des-bundestages-schwerkranke-bekommen-kuenftig-cannabis-auf-rezept-46357766.html Remain politically active and be sure to vote whenever changes in the law that lead toward further decriminalization of cannabis come along. Urge your legislators to propose such changes in the law. Remember, they are supposed to work for the people. Hold them accountable, and vote against them if they vote against you. Now I fire up a BIG doobie to celebrate this... WooHoooooo... Ok, here is an article in English: http://www.dw.com/en/german-parliament-legalizes-cannabis-for-medical-consumption/a-37189942
  10. Hello and Welcome to my First blog...... Thanks for stopping by, I'm EastCoastCannaCure(Ryan), am in my early 30's and have been learning from growing for 12 years at this point. Basically I'm 12years inexperienced as we are just learning so much about cannabis at a mind blowing rate these days, and the leaps and bounds being taken each day by notables such as Remo, and Horatio, the guys at StrainHunters and GreenHouse Seeds for some amazing genetics, that a vast part of the true "experience" and knowledge is still out there and being attained and sought after. With colleges being started and the science and techniques themselves being truly explored, and the amount of knowledge being gained, it sure is a great time to be a part of such a positive change and developing a quality and natural medicine. I have somewhat trickled over from the forums (after only one post I had been updating) as the schedule I keep and the time I currently spend with my favorite ladies seems to transfer over well with the context and delivery of a blog.. well we will see anyway. I will continue to update both of them and see which one works best. Now.. why I'm here. I maintain at this moment 3 grow tents 2 are 4 x 4 and one is 8x4. I just moved and had to start from seed, as quality clones locally were not available at the time and luckily enough the great folks at GreenHouseSeeds/StrainHunters gifted me a pack of Super Critical, The Church, and the long flowering Neville's Haze so I could share my grow experience with these strains to you.. each in its own set of lighting (I use both LED, HPS, and CFL( for mothers and clones)). I like to run side by sides and test different strains in different ways. I plan on doing a advanced nutrients vs remo nutrients side by side very soon. I have always been a loyal Advanced Nutrients user, but a friend of mine introduced me to Remo Nutrients and a side by side he was conducting... and I must say Id have to be a fool not to give Remo a try(I have not yet tried any of StrainHunters nutrients but do plan on trying them and testing results with them as well as I do like their packaged approach and would love to test its simplicity and how well it produces healthy, deficient free medicine.) I guess in this post I'll detail what I have currently in progress and where I plan to be and of course how I am getting there. Basically right now I have popped 3 Super Critical Beans and I had one Super Sensi Star + Critical bean left from a previous grow and wanted a mother from that so I popped that as well. I am growing them in a top and bottom feed 4 plant DWC-Recirculating hydroponic system, they were seedling'd under a 600w LED and then veg'd under 2 600W LEDS and 1 600W HPS in the middle, and are now in week 2 of Flower with a 1200W LED and a 600W HPS in a 8x4 tent. My next post will detail some pictures of leading up to where I'm at, and some information on my techniques and how they work for me.. I am open to suggestions as there is definitely more then one way to skin a cat, and yes some of those ways are simply proven to be more efficient or more beneficiary then others. Stay tuned.

  13. First of all, I am from Japan and cannabis (hemp) has been part of our lives for centuries until after the WW2. Due to the pre-existance of cannabis on the volcanic island, I thought Japan would be a great place to find some interesting genetics. Especially in the southern islands of Japan (Okinawa, and the rest of the little island surround it) because of the weather condition and rich volcanic soil which is a perfect condition for cannabis to grow. What does everyone else think??? Yukiman

  22. I'm new here and I got a questions 1. Growing cannabis is illegal in Holand, so where do they get stuff from? 2. I heard coffee shops can sell only 500 grams on mounth, I don't know is it true but if is, where is the sense? When u sell 1 gram for ~15 euros it's 500 x 15 = 7500 approximately but u must pay for premises (local), employee and all rest. So coffee shops sell more than 500 gram unofficial? Who controls that?

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
