  1. Hi Everyone, I'm new here but not new to growing, lets just say I have had a few years out the loop while other commitments took priority as I explained in the introduction section of this forum. Anyway, I am back growing and really interested in feminised Indica prominent strains and what better company to use than GHSC because they tried and tested with a very nice selection of every strain and seed you could ever wish for. Firstly, before I start, I would like to give a big "Thank You" to Mike at GHSC and, as a man true to my word, you will see exactly how your produce performs for others under different conditions that may or may not bring out the best in the plant. As we have discussed, regardless what the outcome, it will be interesting and I look forward to it. Right then, this is what is being used and how it is all going to happen: Equipment: 0.8mtr x 0.8mtr Grow Tent 2 x 4" Intake Fans on both sides of the tent at the bottom 1 x 4" Carbon Filter (UPGRADED TO RAM 5" x 475mm AFTER 1 WEEK) 1 x 4" Extraction Fan (UPGRADED TO RAM 5" AFTER 1 WEEK) 1 x 6" Circulation Fan Have conducted a test run over 2 days (with 1 LED running) and all appears well with nice temps and humidity (see attached picture). I have slight negative pressure when the CF is attached to the extraction fan. I will not be using the CF during early veg when the plants are not stinky and when the CF is removed I have slight positive pressure which I think will fine as there will be no smell to escape but as soon as I smell even the faintest smell the CF will be used. Media: BioBizz Light Mix Perlite 11ltr Pots will be the final pots My mix will be 70% BioBizz Light Mix and 30% Perlite. I have chosen this soil simply because I have used it before with good results and I think the reason is because with it being very light on nutrients you can have more control over intake of nutrients. My growth method will be SCROG,which I have always done. Plants can be kept very compact and as a result the buds get equal amount of light which is very rewarding when it comes to yield. Nutrients: Growth Technology product range as follows: GT Ionic Soil Grow together with GT Greenfuse Root & GT Greenfuse Grow GT Ionic Soil Bloom together with GT Greenfuse Bloom GT Ionic Cal-Mag Pro Nectar of the Gods product - Herculean Harvest Despite using BioBizz Light Mix I will not be going heavy handed with these nutrients, I will let the plants tell me what they want and if I only need to feed at 1/8th strength then that is what I will do. I will be starting off light and simply observe reactions and act accordingly. Lights: BossLED Diamond Series II 1000watts (167watts to 171watts real wattage from the wall) ViparSpectra Reflector Series 450watts (198watts to 201watts real wattage from the wall) I originally was only going to use the BossLED but after it arrived and I tested it the real power draw was not between 240watt - 280watts as the manufacturer stated. In fact the real power draw is only between 167watts - 171watts which is very different to the comments of the manufacturer. I have not tested PAR but I have concluded (due to real wattage inaccuracy) it is not what the manufacturer claims. This actual unit has very good reviews and more in the USA so I have no doubt it is a reasonable mid-range LED unit and the spectrum is supposed to good so lets see how it performs. As for the ViparSpectra, I have a lot more confidence in this unit and this also has very good reviews. It has a Veg and Bloom along with daisy chain connection. It arrived today and the manufacturer claims it has an average actual power draw of 200watts, I tested it right away and it has exactly that with both the Veg and Bloom switched on. I measured it at around 198watts. I will be using both units together and the combined actual power draw is around 370watts. Using LED's the recommendation is that you should have at least 25watts per square foot. I have 6.89sqft so my 370watts using the 2 LED units works out to be 53.7watts per square foot so I am more than double the recommenced wattage. Lets see how it pans out. Strains: I have several strains to choose from and I am hoping to squeeze 4 plants in my little space but train them very well under the SCROG net. I have chosen the following: 1 x White Widow (Feminised) 1 x Kalashnikova (Feminised) 1 x Super Bud (Feminised) 1 x The Doctor (Feminised) *EDIT* - Plus 2 "adopted" Feminised Seeds - Blue Treacle Automatics which was destined for the garden in the sky and I could not let that happen despite being short of space!! - *EDIT AGAIN* The 2 Blue Treacle plants have had to be re-homed AGAIN due to lack of space. Although I have more strains to choose from I feel that the selection above will be very well suited together because they all finish around the same time and are mainly Indica. With 2 LED's and 4 fans I was expecting more noise than there actually is but I am very pleased with the noise, lack of it in fact, and I am running everything at a very steady and comfortable 70dB making it much lower from a slight distance as the tent is in an enclosed space. So, there you have it all and today I have started germinating the 4 seeds. I like to soak them for while until they sink then they will be straight into little pots with BioBizz Light Mix and Perlite. I do not like the paper towel method as I do not like handling seeds when the tap root is exposed. Jump aboard and enjoy the ride because I think it will be an interesting journey.
  2. Hello fellow growers, I'd like to share my progress. I have 4 plants as you can see, the small ones are only about one week old. The bigger ones, are already blooming. I planted them around the end or March and the beginning of April. Sadly, the weather started to get terrible from then up until a few weeks ago. I did not want to throw them away because I believe they will produce something, I'd like to test the taste of them They look quite decent besides a few flaws, but the buds are looking good. The smell is not too strong, which is good. I hope the weather will continue doing good so I can grow much bigger plants from them. I quite underestimated how complicated it would be to grow autoflowers, but I'm starting to understand them a little more as they progress. If anyone has some tips and tricks I'd like to know! I'll try to keep this post updated.
  3. High together, I want to welcome you to my Autoflowering Grow Journal. After my White Widow (GHSC) harvest and drying procedure I put 3 Kalashnikova Auto seeds to germinate. Today the 3 seeds where put in soil, after germinating them with the Greenhouse method. (soak for 24h, then put on wet toiletpaper for 24h) The top of the pots where covered with plastic foil to create a humid enviroment. (initial root lengths when planted: about 4mm) The first medium I am using for my seeds is a premixed soil mix with perlite and low nutrition made by "ASB GREENWORLD". [N:150-500 mg/L,P2O5: 40-300 mg/L, K2O: 50-400 mg/L] My Kalashnikovas will recieve Greenhouse Powder Feeding when first growing stage is over (i guess in about 3 weeks) Everybody starts their Journals with some nice pics, right now I havent got any but will ad them soon when the babys sprout. All of us just have to be a bit patient untill we can see our babys.
  4. Hello Strain Hunters, This is my first journal here on the website, hope you guys will enjoy the report until the end. I have started the grow 1 week ago, so I'll explain what has happened until now. This is the story so far: 3 x Kalashnikova Auto 1 x Green O'Matic 1 m² x 2m grow tent 2 galons square pots Medium: Sunshine Mix #6 + 30% Perlite Nutes: General Hydroponics Flora 400w HPS light Challenges: Since I live in South America, the temperatures are high right now during the summer, staying around 30 degrees outside so I'm constantly struggling to keep temperatures down. I have started germinating the seeds on January 15th and on the 17th I put 3 Kalashnikova and 1 greenOmatic in the medium as they had already sprouted. Remaining greenoMatics didn't came out from the seeds and so I discarded them a few days ago. All plants are growing fine. i'm following the General hydroponics DTW feeding schedule. The #1 Kalashnikova suffered a small accident on the 19th and it's brench got bent all the way. I've made a support for it and it has been doing well despite of that. Today they are exactly one week old since they sprouted. i'll post some pics later for you all to see. That's all for now. Feel free to comment and ask any questions. Cheers
  5. Day One Kalashnikova Automatic (Feminised) = Greenomatic (Ruderalis x Moroccan x White Dwarf x Low Rider) X Kalashnikova (AK-47 x White Widow) - Sounds promising. Indoor - 7 weeks flowering time with a yield up to 800gr/sqm. Can be flowered at 18 or 12 hours photoperiod. 9 weeks total crop time. Hi Strainhunters, I have got some room coming up this week under the light, so i am not going to waste it. I have gratefully received some Kalashnikova Autoflower seeds Which will be fed with Short flowering Powderfeed from start to finish. This will be my third attempt at growing autoflowers, the first time with Greenhouse Auto genetics, previously i have grown Think Differnt from Dutch Passion and Northen lights Auto from Royal Queen seeds. So will be happy to see how they compare. I will be using one of my trusty HPS 400w lights on a 12/12 light schedule.i have previously been growing them on 18/6 for two weeks then 12/12 on my previous two attempts. I am changing this time as i want to keep my electricity bills down, and if i have the light on 12/12 constantly, So I can grow a wider range of varieties, auto and feminised, all on a 12/12 schedule from start to finish. This will be my last indoor grow till August/September as I hope to start outdoors on the 1st May if spring ever arrives this year. Free light always a bonus and with a decent summer can get some good results outdoor. I will start my plants in small 2 litre pots then transplant them after a week to 10 days into 11 litre pots where they will stay for 9-10 weeks.I will fill the pots with my usual soil easymix from the local grow shop, then add clay pebbles when I come to repot them. I will start by filling the pots with soil, I will then drop the seed in a 1cm deep hole I have made, cover gently, I then give the soil a light watering with warm tap water over the seed, cover with a sprinkly of soil, mist that with tap water, I will then put them in a dark cupboard and wait patiently. i have only failed once using this method and that was my first attempt ever. So away we grow. Thanks Greenhouse

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
