Hey Everyone. So, I'm one of those forum posters that regulars generally despise. I'm a journalist working on a possible story about the ol' Panama Red strain. I am currently in Panama, close to the pearl islands where it is reported to still grow. But, alas, I am no scholar when it comes to marijuana history and theory. I was wondering if any of you strain hunters knew of any books/texts/reports/articles that talk at all about Panama Red. I've done the basic Google searches and have found some solid info, but I imagine there are some obscure books out there, written by people who really know their shit, that discuss the history, lore and science of Panama Red. Anyone know how I can learn more? Thanks in advance.

Hey Folks! I'm a Canadian journalist living in Panama. I've been to the Pearl Islands, where Panama Red is reported to still grow. My friend has a 6 seater Piper Cherokee that we take out there and he owns a small B&B on the main island of Contadora. I've never spoke to anyone out there about Panama Red, but I am going to start now. Have you guys ever thought about coming down to find the old, original Panama Red?
About us
Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.
Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
