And a little bit of history of PR :

Panama Red, Panamanian Red, or P.R. is a cultivar of cannabis, popular among cannabis aficionados of the 1960s and 1970s, and renowned for its potency. The typically high THC levels associated with the variety are thought to be dependent on the particular cultivar, rather than the Panamanian climate.In a limited test, an Auburn University researcher reported that "seed of a sample of Panama Red, grown in the very different climates of the Canal Zone, campus and northern New Hampshire, yielded marijuana with similar THC content." Its name comes from its cultivation in the country of Panama, and its claylike red color. Production was common in Panama's sparsely-populated Pearl Islands. It is known for causing a strong, racy, and intense psychedelic high. Cannabis culture died off in Panama with the rise of cocaine trafficking.

sorry to bring up an older thread, but I second this request, all the old hippies(not literally, just people in their late 50s, early 60s) in the U.S. that I have come across swear by this stuff.

As strange as it sounds, most I have talked to swear that it caused hallucinations , real deal stuff , I want to say 68 or 69 was the main years of it being around(from what i hear)

Recently on another forum I have been reading about a compound called THCv Delta 1v that is apparently found in some equatorial sativas, african, and southern asian strains that can supposedly cause visual highs in the right amounts, maybe just maybe this strain is high in it... I dunno, some of the people that tell me about this strain, I know they wouldn't be bullshitting me about it, too many people have said it haha.

Maybe it is worth looking into?

The holy grail of the old school strains if what I have heard is true.

I live in Costa Rica, just up north of Panama, I smoke Panama Red (Roja, Punta Roja, La Colorada, etc) in my youth (early 80’s) & grow it in my guerrillas, smoke it in Panama, Colombia & Peru when I find out it turns more psychoactive & can create hallucinations. I bough seeds in all those places & did guerrillas with them turning that all of them were close to be the same(awesome smoke but not as the 1 in Peru), it’s a wild equatorial Sativa & do not yield as an actual strain, the internot distance is huge & buds are long & skinny. I found out that in Peru they harvested it very late & cultivated in high mountains both facts causing a much more sycodelic effect.

awesome info man, makes me wonder if anyone has figured out how to or grown in a room/chamber with an artificially decreased atmospheric pressure (if that is even possible)

Don't know either but the seeds from Peru were the best ones ever almost all make it to harvest & on those days loose half, lol. It’s a weird thing that may have many factors, you can see it in the Strain Hunters India Expedition how the growers start & go high in the mountains & how weed changes on the way up. I saw a test from a friend in California who brings soil from Hawaii to get the taste of Hawaiian weed & did not work even that the soil was tested as volcanic soil & the elements in it were the same as the sample taken. Weed wonders1!!

Good suggestion! A hunt for the true Panama red, I've only read about it online and in books. I really want to try to grow and smoke it

I second that Guovsahas...ive only read about the red...lol(read/red). sorry, im high. and seeing as im of Panamanian heritage I feel like I was cheated. this would make a great exploration. just dont forget to invite me.
