GHSC Malawi Gold

7 posts in this topic

Some questions on your quest for the Malawi Gold:

I've seen that there are some other seed companies that already offer Malawi Gold in different versions. Mainly Afropips. I think they have around 4 strains with Malawian as the main genetic background.

My first question is how will the GHSC Malawi version differ from these already existing strains?

Is the goal to create a true breeding landrace strain, offered in both regular and fem form, or a hybrid exhibiting mainly Malawi traits? Or both?

You'll propbably keep this as a company secret, but I'm curious so I'll ask:

How far down the road are you guys now?

I guess there must be hundreds, but have you managed to isolate any preferable phenotypes? If so, how many?

What are the most interesting traits to be found in the Malawi genetic package?

How much longer must we wait?

If Franco or anybody else in the GHSC breeding staff could answer at least some of these q's without adventuring company secrets I'd be grateful. I'm an amateur hobby breeder so I find these things interesting.

Happy breeding

ok there I see.

And I who was thinking about buying some of their stuff. They claim to have a lot of african landraces. Can we believe their claims? Obviously its not a hard thing finding "real" african seeds, but who is offering the true breeding strains?

That's a big question in my head. All of afropips stuff sounds tasty. But hey man you can make anything sound tasty, caveat emptor applies as always in these cases.

I'm not just interested in the release date as you could see. Some of the science behind is also appreciated.

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
