Bad Weather

7 posts in this topic

Any one else suffering from bad snow this year,we`ve just had more snow and freezing temps -8 last night at 2am.

I have had problems keeping the temps in my room up and the humidity down, been useing a blow heater to try and get some warmth in the room but this sends the humidity soaring, sometimes 70%!. I`ve tried running extractor fan but this just sucks any heat out.

Any Ideas??

Get yourself an oil filled radiator buddy! They are allot better than any fan heater. They cost anywhere from £15 to £60 depending on what size you want and they usually come with a built in thermostat. I'd advise getting 1 with this option, just set it to the temp you want and forget about it. Also being oil radiators they use allot less power fan heaters and dont increase the humidity, if anything they lower it from my experience! If humidity drops below 40% just leave a bucket of water in the grow room to increase it if necessary.

The only other option is turning up your central heating, I have mine set a little higher than usual to stop the ambient temp from dropping below 19C for "night" temps.

Hope this helps, let us know of your progress.

A light gves out as much heat as an electric heater, and uses the same wattage. The plants will not only have more warmth, but more light, and they love light; they absorb it, and give it all back to us at harvest time. or else,a propane burner, which will knock up your cabon dioxide levels as well as keep them warm.

i use my lights to keep the warmth up and an a.c. to keep the humidity down. and the 12 hours off i use an oil filled heater to warm my room and dehumidify the air. it actually cooks the air so it works well.

I have no experience here, as it never snows where I am; cold is never a problem but heat is. The room I am growing in is very large and has to be, so the heat will dissipate. Fans are only as good as the outside air, and if that is 40 degrees C, in a small room you have a big problem with heat, without an acond. Then that is more power. Your solution sound s right to me.

take it easy, greenthumb, all the best mate

Cheers for the ideas, got another light in, 400 Watt Son-T plus my 600 grolux ,so heat and humidity are fine lights on but still a bit chilly lights off think i`m going to get an oil filled heater as a few of you mentioned.

Peace

Gotta watch out for the temp - especially if you have white plants like widow rhino el nino or shark who dont really like the cold. If you have a hydro set up check out these heaters Perhaps check your local hydro/grow shop - For Edinburgh and Lothians hydraonline.co.uk - they have a store in Leith that you can also visit and they are helpful and friendly and nice and they generally know about their tomatoes

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
