Paragon Slabs...?

7 posts in this topic

So I ordered new slabs for my Ecosystem, and I usually get the Grodon Professional Series, and these Paragon ones show up. I get the whole speach that Paragon is the sister company of Grodan, blah blah blah... these drain slower and are woven in a V... I drill 146 holes in them and mount them up. Pre soaked them for 2 weeks @ 5.5 pH and the second week added root innoculant, plant the clones and let er rip. First two weeks dialed right in like normal. Res change and changing into transition my pH falls to 5.0 the next day. I adjust it to 5.6 and come back the next day...5.0 again... WTF... Adjust it up to 6.0 and come back the next day it's mutherfucken 5.0, now the leaves are starting to curl down and I'm losing it... Adjusted it to 6.1 and will see tommorrow? If its 5.0 this will be a big problem. I'm dumping the res tomm and flushing them no matter what.... Fillening it back up and crossing my fingers.
I'm just hoping these idiots didnt make the change cause of cheapness and greediness. It will cost me literally thousands to start over right now.
Is it possible for rockwool to have some kind of buffer in it or something to cause this? The only new thing is the strain and the root innoculant this cycle. Stopped root innoc a week ago at last res change. And strain cant do this.

I had no problems with the Grodan ones.

I use 300 L reservoir's with a few air stones in it to let the water de- chlorify and shit before I use it in the 100 L res. My tap water is like a 7.3 pH. I use a Blue Lab tri meter which is like a $800 dollar meter and the best I've had. I'm thinkin these slabs are garbage and this cycle is going to be hard and stressful. I'm returning the slabs for my other ECO's today.

Like I said, I pre soak them for two weeks before I even plant. First week is just water @ 5.5 pH. The second week is usually GH Sub Culture and pH balanced water. Third week I plant and drip 15 on 15 off, even at night. I don't let them dry out at all. I'm dialed in with everything except these new slabs which were recommended by the rep for the ECO's. Fuckin prick. I'll pressure him into free new slabs, I'll keep you posted, lol.

I don't skimp out on anything for my grow's. I'm using magdrives for pumps. Don't think theres any seals in them, just magnets. But yes, i'm flushing with GH Florakleen for a day and getting back on track.... HOPEFULLY! I'm returning and switching for the Grodans anyways. I'm not losing anymore sleep or $$$$ over this. About to plant my second ECO and am all halted right now. Have to go with Great White Shark cause I've amputataed the tops of my SLH. They were out of control. About to go and check my pH, lol....

So really weird... it was at 5.5 today? I added 20 L of water and bumped it to 5.9 and will check again tommorrow. Maybe it needed to absorb or something weird? Don't know, we'll see tommorrow.

I tested this stuff about 6mths ago. I cut slabs into 50mm x 50mm cubes for cuttings and had nothing but PH problems and EC sharp rises as well Growmaster J in flood and drain trays. There must be something in it what i don't no and no one could tell us. What I had left went in the bin. Stick to Groden it's the best you can get...............Good luck hope you can get it right. I think Drunkknuckle is onto something

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
