Seeking advice and opinion

4 posts in this topic

I have been torn lately about my latest grow.

Up until now I have been growing a lot of lowryders, and last summer I grew out a few full sized ladies outside. I live in the mountains of Southern California, and have a good area to grow outside (legally for medical purposes) but in the mountains we can get snow from October through May, the outdoor grow season is really short.

During the winter I grow inside. I have been doing all lowryders inside but I am attempting to go full sized with clones. Last year in preperation for my outside grow I grew a mother and made a ton of clones from her, so I have a good understand of cloning.

Here is my conundrum, and question. I have a 4' wide, 3'+ tall are with a 4' 4 bulb HO T5 fixture:

My plan is to clone and once rooted give them a week or two here before moving them to bloom

I have been blooming my lowryders in these two boxes stacked on top of each other. They are 30" wide and 3' tall currently with one each 120w led tricolor light:

I have recently bought a (new to me, but over 100 year old) wardrobe that I plan on converting to another grow box. It is 30" wide, and about 5' of grow space tall:

The black boxes in the photo are what I will use for DWC. They fit perfectly across the bottom, can be plumbed together or separated, and are easy to segregate plants for different feeding needs...

My first plan was to keep the new mothers in the two stackable boxes and bud in this new box, but I am wondering if I shouldn't bud in the short boxes and keep the mothers in the taller wardrobe.

I know I can keep the mothers short if I want, and I can keep the budding plants short too, but I'm not sure which I SHOULD do.

For mothers I have already started the following:

From Greenhouse:

Super Lemon Haze (f)

Himalayan Gold (f)

From free seeds from Attitude:

Midnight Kush (f)

Super Skunk (f)

Kandy Kush (3 none feminized)

LA Confidential (3 none feminized)

What do you all think I should do? Which box for what? I know I need to hook up another light. I have a 400w HPS that I really don't want to use. The LEDs do great work with no heat, and I can add T5s to the tall box if I put the mothers in there.

I'm just so unsure about this.

Thanks in advance!!!

Here is a picture with the doors closed:

So Samuelo, which one should I put the mothers in, and which one should I bloom in? The tall one, or two short ones?

Thanks!

That's which way I'm leaning too,

The black boxes are stacked right now cause I have a roll of bubble foil on the other side ;)

When I do the box up the black boxes will go horizontally across the the bottom. 4 across with one or two plants per box. Each box with a highlevel run off, and a top drip. I'll have a 5 gallon reservoir on the outside that will run up to the tops of the boxes and the run off will drain back into the reservoir.

I'm going to go with a 2' 4 bulb T5 on hangers in it. The T5's are cooler than the CFLs. They can be a beast with heat. I have an air cleaner that will port out of the box, but I don't want to get esoteric on the cooling. ;)

Good idea, thanks!

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
