FIRST TIME GROW ADVICE NEEDED

12 posts in this topic

Hello everyone

at the moment i am still deciding wich materials to use to build my grow box but im almost decided to use mdf panels.

But im sure already what the dimensions wil be 110cmx90cm and 220 high divided into two 170cm lower part and 50 cm upper part where all the vents and filter will be.I will be using a 600hps cooltube from the start and was thinkig of adding another cfl. my first choice would be soil and hesi nutes but am also thinking of hydro (i would like to hand water).

So what are my questions:

-how many flowers into that space? i´m deciding wich strain (wrhino, superbud, kalashnikova but was also thinking about bigbud auto for faster first crop.

im confused now with all info some people say put 25 plants and some say put 5 but im thinking 10 in 18l pots or 5 in 25l pots.

im wonderin wich setup and strain would give the best yielding results?

And if i were to choose rockwool for a medium how to handwater 25L pots?

thank you all in advance for sugestions and advice!

Hi man, first good luck in your first grow, Second.. 10 18L in 1m² are you sure it will fit in fuzzy?

Technically for your 600w plus a CFL you can put 10 plants in 1m² but i think it will be very tight! even 6 plants in 1m² is tight if you give them a good veg.

But it all depends what you want,i see you want to do 170high, so i would do not much veg maybe 1 week, or even from 12/12 from seeds if you want, put some 8 -11L pots as much as possible.

If you still want to make some strong big girl, then you will need to use some grow technique like Toping (cut the top of your plant) , bending , or even a Scrog could be worth it in a small room like that if you like.

And for your first times i would go soil too, at least the time that you understand how the plant works, how the PH and EC works, etc... ;)

Good luck man

thanks for quick reply Fuzzy and Dust!

Dust you say i should veg for maybe 1 week due to hight limitation but when i saw the grow session video about white rhino the soil plant grew only 50-60cm tall and 30cm in diameter when harvested, and it was rooting for 14 and veging 14 days? So if all my plants were like that they would easily fit 9 in there.

Maybe you guys can reccomend me which strain to use the first time.

Regards

and yes i will post pics as soon as the grow box is done

I don't think autos would be best yeild choice personaly ^^

About the growth makla, even if you on 12/12 from seeds your plants will veg for about 2 3 weeks before beeing mature to flower and stretch, you can go see my report if you like i did 12/12 from seed this time, and i'm pretty happy with the size of the plant for the moment, it will allow me to have a nice SOG :)

Perhaps with the white rhino you are right and she is a short plant that needs a little more veg, i've never grown this girl, but they are some growreports on the forum, go look for them you'll have an idea of the growth and of what you can do maybe. ;)

id pick kalishnacova. ive heard nothing but good about that strain. a good rule of thumb is 1ft2 per plant. so 9-12 would be fine. but id do like 9 to give a little extra room

And don't forget that in your 170cm you'll have about 20- 25cm of pots, plant will have to stay at a good 50cm if not cool tubed so that makes 70-75 cm you can take away in your room that leaves you 1m growing plant. and 1m goes really fast with plants ;)

And yeah kalash is a cool big producer plant ;)

have a good grow man

There are some factors to consider in your case my friend! First of all, u want quick harvest. That means u shall either growing autoflowerings, or u let them veg for quite a short time. Whatever u do, they won't be as big as they require big pots. I think 10-12 l would do, in case of autoflowerings maybe even smaller like 7 l. But, this also results that u will be able to fit more plants, but lower average yield. So, my advice is, to try 25 autoflowerings in 7-10 l pots, in soil, and try training them ( LST) from the 3rd week, or try 16 regulars in slightly bigger ( 10-15 l as they fit...) pots. Soil is adviced for starters!!!! I would start with not less than 20 seeds, cos u will loose a couple anyway, and some will turn out a bit better, some a bit weaker. But at least u can practice, and u get the knowledge and the experience!!!! Wishing u good luck, and happy growing!!

I'd pick 3-4 kalashnikova seeds(for 1M²) and put them in 12-15liters buckets. They dont grow that high and they become very wide and equally tall branches if treated right. Good luck mate!

hey man welcome on the forum ;)

For me the best to do your grow would be a SCROG (Screen of Green) it consist on putting a net more or less 20 cm above your plant, and play with your girl so that she stays under the net during the biggest part of the stretch, it is think the best way to grow with CFL, surely not the easiest for a first try, but with care and atention you can do anything you want ;)

So have a very good reading about SCROG you will find a lot of subjects about it here and on the web. And for the amount of plant i would put only 1 ;)

Good luck man :)

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
