root rot killed the yellow one , i hope other will survive :) (i smile cuz i have nothing to smoke) it happend cuz my pot height is 9 cm when tube diameter is 11 cm , and when roots are developed, they started to act like dam. Next fail that i used small (5-7mm) fraction substrate (expanded clay) in result - there is no space for roots to breethe , and all holes in pot are sealed

Aloha Superduper77, You can use bleach at the rate of 1 ml to 30 ml of nutrient solution to try to save the remaining plants in the system. You have the dreaded root slime problem that affects plants in deep water and recycled water deep water culture. Roots tend to like a lot of room to grow the aeroponics growers are going to larger 1 meter X 1 meter 50 cm grow boxes now because the misted nutrient solution promotes massive root systems with white fuzzy hairs as compared to the spaghetti roots of a waterfarm and NFT.

for 40 liters ineed to add 1.3 liters of bleach ? it must be mistype

i have 30% NaClO bleach , if i understand clear i need 6% solution , so i take 2 ml of bleach and mix it with 10ml of water , then add 1 ml of bleach 6% solution, to 30 liters nutes solution

i hope i ll kill them myself

Aloha Superduper, Add one milliliter to 30 liters of nutrient we are looking at 1 part per million. The 1 in 30 would be for a strong solution used at clean up time to kill everything when no plants are in the system between crops. I did not proof-read my comment and made a mistake. People who run a sterile solution in aero & rwdc use bleach at .5 to 1.5 PPM in the nutrient solution and be sure not to use the kinds with soap or scenting as the regular 5% to 6% of active ingredient is the preferred product.

Aloha Superduper77, Another thing you have to deal with is all the garbage coning back into the pump area and if you take a woman's nylon stocking over the return piping to catch the dead roots it will help. I would not mix 40 liters at a time I would use a couple of 5 to 10 liter flushes and dumps to clean things up and then mix larger volumes.

i read a lot about bleach in hydroponics ... here is quote

  • I ran an experiment with bleach on clones. 20gal tote clones from a flowering plant at 11 days into 12/12, in bubblecloner. a few of these clones were from tops others from smaller bottom growth. after 14 days roots are great. never changed water once simply added half cap of bleach every other day. one clone of 10 died

Aloha Superduper77, Fairbanks Fatman from Alaska is an aeroponicis grower with a ton of good information on nutrients, aeroponics, and water quality issues. (he has also been banned at every forum he has been at) One thing I learned long ago is always start low with chemical treatments and see what happens because you can always up the dosage. Here in Hawaii with our catchment water off the roof they say 1 PPM will work fine to sterilize drinking water.

You are battling small problems all the way but you are still a head and with a fine grow. Looks like you will have a few male pods nearing the end of grow. Just take them away as soon you see them and you will be all fine.

man , it is regular bubble gum that did not show stigmas , i will delete it if it will be clear that it is 100% male

start of week 11

solution ec = 1.5 ph =5.8 t=20

recipe for it , using reverse osmosis water ec=0.01 (in gram/20 liters)

calcium nitrate 7.85

potassium nitrate 5.1

mono-potassium phosphate 3.66

magnesium sulphate 5.56

micro (valagro edta mix) 0.4

i mix it in two 10 liters bottles , in first bottle i add only calcium nitrate and micro , in second all else. in result i have solution EC=1.45 PH=6.0

Aloha Superduper77, I learned a long time ago we get by a little better with a little help from our friends (old Beatles song) I was wondering if getting the nutrient solution sterile with 2 PPM of bleach reduced the pH swings you were having issues with?

Aloha , oldemarine ! God sent u 4 sure !

PH swings are not issue to me cuz i have time to correct it two times a day. Now PH is more stable , but it have the same character as before - rising whet EC going down , and falling when EC is rising

Aloha Superduper77, Have you considered using a solar powered water distiller to supplement your RO system? Some areas in the USA have water quality like you are dealing with high EC & pH levels. The technology is not rocket science if you have sunshine & room for a ( Do It Yourself) evaporator and collector.

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
