Prewatering and possible benefits

hi there everyone im new to growing but i thought i would share some info. after some long chats with the owners of a hydroponics shop by my house they said a little pre water before feed when growing in soil can benefit. the reasons for this is (from what they told me) that the roots pores close up when the growing medium drys out and if you had watered them with feed the plant will not take the full feed as it needs time to open the pores again and that only happens when it gets moisture. so giving a prewater of about 10% of the amount you water your plants and then leaving it for 30 minutes before watering with the feed. this will allow the roots to feel the moisture, open up it pores and be ready to take all the feed you throw at it.

as i said this is what they told me but they have many many years experience with soil growing i am not able to compare because as i am in process of my first grow i got nothing to compare with. but i havent had problems and the girls look great. so even if it doesnt work or only a little it could never hurt to try :)

I do same as you pheno, always scratch the top layer of the soil with a fork and a long wooden pike to make some "holes"

And i personally always water in 2 time, first half to everygirl, then second half, most of the time it makes about 20mn before 1st and 2nd.

Thanks for sharing that info, an interesting thought, and a nice info from bozoph too!
