Below is my white rhino and 3 church plants, with pictures to show my training techniques; first the white rhinowhite%20rhinno%201.jpg

and another on the white rhino

The next 2 pictures are of the branches pulled aside so that you can see how deep the plants is, note how the main branch has been trained to grow horizontally, and the lateral branches have grown vertically to become a cola:

Hi Fuzzy,

The church plants range from 6 weeks in veg(the one with sunglasses) to 8 weeks in veg.

The plant with sunglasses, I did nothing too.

The other two Church plants I nipped, which is the same as FIM, but I take all of the growing shot, and not just half as in FIM; the church branches are that thick, I could not train the plant as I usually do, but trained them outwards just enough to let some light into the center of the plants.

The Church is bloody amazing. The plant with sunglasses on is one phenotype of the Church, and when it was in veg, I preferred the other 2 phenotypes. I did sent Franco a message, and he confirmed that the church has 3 phenotypes, and that the squat phenotype was his favorite, so I had another good look at it, and now it is mine too.

The white rhino it is hard to say how long it was vegged, as I planted it in December but we had such a hot summer(over 40c) and I could not afford to buy an air conditioner, so it almost died from heat stress and root fungus.

I did have 5 Himalayan gold which I had to pull up. It broke my heart doing that, as they too are an amazing plant.

The white rhino sat there for 3 months and did not grow at all, as it had a really bad case of root root, but with care and a lot of patience, I kept it alive and when the weather got cooler in March, I brough it back.

So the white rhino has been vegged for some time, but before it got sick it was just a bushy.

How I do that is I nip the growing shoot at the 4th inter node, and this gives me two main branches, which I then nip(FIM) at the 6th inter node.

I then have 4 main branches, which I train by hand to grow horizontally, so that the lateral branches all grow straight up.

When training the branches, I sculpture the plant in that I imagine how I want it to be when it flowers(taking into account access to light). I, therefore, prune the lower branches that will not get much light, and a lot of the branches near the inside of the plant so that all the growth goes into the top of the plant.

This techniques is excellent if you can only grow a limited number of plants, but want to grow them as big as possible, but not all strains are suitable for this technique.

I do veg the plants for at least 6 weeks, but prefer to veg for 8 to 10 weeks, as it does take time for the plant to reach a large size.

Also, I use large pots and give them a lot of light.

I hope this helps, happy growing, my friend

Hi Fuzzy, yes it is very much the same technique, but different. I have adopted the same practices but have modified it and made it my own, and he has done the same. "A thousand monks a thousand ways", and this is especially so when it comes to growing the weed..

happy growing,

john

Thank you, rico.

I hope your plant turns out better, my friend. I actually burnt them a bit because I was using too much fish emulsion. We are all here to help each other, and your plant is outdoors, and will get more light, so with some luck it will be better than mine, and I will help you do that as much as I can. happy harvest, john

Hi Primz,

Thank you; the church is an amazing plant and I fully recommend it. Himalayan gold is an amazing plant too.

I would grow either of these strains again. I was very disappointed with what happened to the himalayan gold as they were looking great: very vigorous. I do intend to get some more seeds of the Him. Gold strain and grow it again, as it really has potential. Trouble is Green House has that many great strains to grow, I do not know exactly when I will grow it again, but I do think it will be soon..

happy growing and all the best,

john

very very beautiful plants. in your opinion would you recamend the church or the white rhino for easyness to grow.

what are you currently feeding them right now ?

The white rhino is a true indica; the church is also an indica, but does have a higher percentage of sativa genes.

The white rhino I think is a swtronger plant in that it can take a lot of punishment. The church has 3 phenotypes, and two of those take after the sativa in that they are very sensitive about ec levels.

The other phenotype is a true indica and a very strong plant.

I feed my plants base nutrient, micro, plus fulvic acid, zyme and silica ,

i use rhizotonic, and an organic seaweed high in potasium, plus plant sugars( a special mixture of easly absorbed sugars) and an organic flowering booster.

I also use benificial bugs, and the sugar is to feed them and the plant.

I hope this helps

happy growing,

john

hey rico if i were you i would stay away from the tomato food. im guessing you are using miracle grow tomato food ? if so this is extremly high in nitrogen and in some cases can cause severe problems. also if you do have to use this make sure you only use it during vegging also make sure you use it at 1/4 strength so if it says 1 teaspoon use a 1/4 teaspoon. as for any not organic food i would never go more than 1/2 strength but always start at 1/4 strength and see how your plant handles it if it seems ok you can go up to half stregth. if i where you and you can only get your hands on miracle grow products or somtihg similar just go with the normal all purpose miracle grow and do 1/4 strength. i personally am against miracle grow as it makes your herb taste very gross at end of flowering and also causes severe buildup. you need to do some super flushing to get that stuff out. but if you have to use it just go with the normal all purpose and do 1/4 strength.

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
