Big Bang Powder Feeding [Completed]

229 posts in this topic

Area: Spare bathroom 6foot x 6foot x 7foot tall.

all hardware removed.

Platform is plywood (water proofed) 42inch x 80inch

Drains into shower drain.

Lights:3 x 600w mh veg and hps bloom in glass covered 6 inch air cooled hoods.

6 inch fan connected to a 6inch charcoal filter. (Blows through the hoods to outside)

Ac is a dual hose so the cool air is isolated from the room.

Pots are 3 gal (us) with lots of holes.

Soil is 3parts Happy frog, 3 parts Black gold and 2 parts Perlite 25%perlite?.

(My first grow was soil only, took 23days to dry out)

(My second grow was soil and 10% perlite took 17 days to dry out)

Both grow were a disaster and chopped down the second one at week 3 of bloom.

Have 28 Big Bang in pots We cloned from a Big bang Fem Mom from seed,

and 3 pots of AK48 (Bag seeds) and 1 pot of White moonshine (Clone only) a gift.

Fresh air intake is from a 6inch fan. THere is a slight positive pressure in the room,

but not a bother unless we open the door to the bedroom (Got to be quick) to contain the smell.

Electrical is 120vac via a 90amp circuit braker.

Timers used for everything.

1 18inch oscillating fan up high on wall.

Water is stored in a 55gal drum and filled vea an RV double filter.

The plants have been in the pots for 3 days and 4 days in cups of soil prior to planting.

There are 5 (70yrs + ageing hippies) of us MMJ registered and I am registered as care giver and grower.

Blind leading the blind.

While we are legal by Ca law it is still illegal by Federal Law Go figure.

We try to keep our own counsle and not have to many others in the loop.

We estimate the electical + cost at about $700 us all total per grow (Past grow cost)

Lastly, Please, forgive the spelling and grammer Grade school drop out.

A few pics to get started.

PS: We will be using Powder Feeding when it arrives,

Some eye kandy of our first grow, which had 5 to 20 seeds in most of the buds, had over a kilo.

Most of us liked the Afgoo for night time sleeping, the big bang was next favorite.

The white moonshine seem to help M with his Glacoma (Spelling sucks)

The Big Bud was a head high.

Just get tired of picking seed and haveing them pop in your face Grrrrrrrrr

PS: The lighter in the pis is 3 1/2 inches.

Hi Dust

Your right it is daunting, I have to remove most of the plants one by one at least 4 times during the grow in order to trim top etc:

I use a 15 gal tub with a small pump and wand to water/feed.

The wife and I get the product from 2/5 of the crop, the other 3 members pay our total utilities and nutrients.

I have found out the source of out problems (I think)

we had a PPM meter (Hanna) we though was calibrated to 700. it was a 500, I think we were feeding at 3 ec each time.

I am going to buy an EC meter today.

We also had bad advice and were feeding every cycle, on top of that we were adding AN Big Bud at week 2,3,4 and AN Overdrive at week 6.

I have ordered 500g of the PF, shipping is UPS so should have it by feeding time.

I have a good PH meter thats easy to calibrate, also have a moisture meter as it hard to use the lift method for those plants in the back.

PS all the plants have been topped, I am stuck on the sea of green method, not sure if that best or not.

The water I used to dampen the soil was PH 6.0 and a ppm of 300 (maybe).

All of you have my full attention.

Thanks

Hi Fem

Thanks for taking the time to advise me.

So far Dust is the winner with the Hanna, I like it because it is manufactured in the USA and Romania.

Fed up with China stuff, Tried to buy new tires made in usa last week, took the tire shop 3 days to find tires made in USA. :spiteful:

What do you mean by "easily grow on 6-6-7" ?

The drain to the shower is great, only the wife and I get tired peeing in a bucket and bathing in a tub

Just kiding, whe have 2 bathrooms.

Week 1 (7th day) Big Bang

Starting to green up a bit.

Temps stay at 75 during lights on and 65 at night, humidity around 70%

Pots are still very wet (Soil meter and lift method)

My Powder Feed was shipped on Monday morning UPS, should be here before feeding starts.

I made a mistake on the discription on the plant in the only black pot it is a Big Bud, gift from a friend.

Enjoy the pics

Upps I forgot We have in the cups 3 x the doctor, 3 x pinapple chunk, 1 x mazar and 3 x Big Bang in the back, will scrap those soon.

I really love this growing what a great plant(s)

Week 2 (14 days)i

Plant pots are still moist.

I can see the benifits of going to progressivly larger pots and letting them dry out sooner.

Planting my clones directly into 3 gal pots takes a long time to dry out.

I will prolly continue this way as I am short of the energy to do all that transplanting.

Ther plants are growing (Slowly)

My plan is to have only bud tops in a sea of green.

Partialy reading and some expeience 1 & 1/2 grows :>0

I hope to accomplish this by topping and trimmimg the under growth.

My first grow I just let things go, altho I had read to the contrary.

I had about 1 lb of nasty under growth that was only good for hash making,

i felt that it took a lot of growth from the main buds ?

This time I topped the plants at about 4 days after planting

and topped again at day 15 those side branchs that tended to grow taller than the rest of the plant.

Not sure if this is good or bad ?

Here is a pic of one of the plants:

it is one of the numerous technic you can use,and it will indeed give you a nice SOG ;)

And yes most of the time it is good to take away all the lowers bud site that won't benefit of a lot of light and take a little energy that could be use by the top. You'll see how it goes, some strain like it better than others but you don't risk much ;)

Good luck keep us updated :)

Week 3 (Day 21 from clones)

Feeding time (1st feeding) 30 min after lights on.

The plants are green enough, although small?.

I guess the soil I used was ok. Happy Frog (hot) , Black Gold (mild Lots of Enzymes), Perlite.

Have fed them with 40gram PF in 60 Ltr water

No additives, my mind wants me to add something LOL

Tap water: .51EC and 7.2PH

(Is through an RV filter and sat in a 50gal drum to rid chlorine for 2 days)

Feeding water: 1.28EC and 5.7PH

Hope for the best.

I hope my topping works, I have 0 undergrowth, hope I did not over do it.

There is an avg of 6 top bud sites per plant.

5 to 7 on each plant.

On my first grow and only successful grow,

the buds that were exposed to the light weighed an avg or 10g per bud.

I have been reading everything on your wonderful site and trying to take all the advice I can.

Thanks you all.

Looks good man ;) Yes they keep pretty small but i guess it's due to your topping as they develop many tops at same time it must have slown them a little, but don't worry as small as they are when all those tops will produce flowers will be a great view in here ;)

Thanks for the news keep them coming

Have a good grow

Same t0 you MrX I think you nailed it Dust: I read that by topping when they are very very young, you would have a stronger trunk and branch's. To get this it must take energy from the upward growth. I will just have to Veg a bit longer Thanks

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
