Sinai Land race from Egypt :)

Hello Guys,

I am moudak from Egypt, I have been smoking since 13 years ago...But I only started growing 3 months ago. I got these seeds from 6 different Sinai strains bought from different dealers, most of them don't know each other, except for 2.

In Egypt all the farmers are uneducated Bedouins they don't separate males from females so we end up buying weed with seeds.

So I planted some of them and these are the pics of them. I hope I am doing something good.

I included pics of my nutes that are available in the Egyptian market.

For lights I use CFL's 1 x 55, 1 x 85, 1 x 105

I started germinating on the 24'th of September and now I am in week 7 now. I only received the PH, TDS, Hygrometer 5 days ago. I found out a lot of missing info, so I calibrated everything accordingly. From climate including the RH% rate to the Celcius degree and checking the PH of the water, So

I changed everything to be as follows:

* RH% 55% almost it varies from 52 - 55%.

* 23 Celcius mainly from 21 - 23

* 550 ppm in the water with the nutes

* 6.8 mainly from 6.5 - 6.8

so you will find a better change in the yellowing color in the bottom leaves the earlier generated ones from the first levels. I always spray them 2 a day with water and silicate to preserve them from the weather change. I open the fan while in light ( 16 ) hours. I open a 0.5 cm from the window in the background for ventilation and I spray the mylars frequently to reserve some humidity in the air trying to push to 55%.

Please note that its very very and I repeat very difficult to get stuff like for example Humidifier, dehumidifier, worm castings, blood meal, bat guano, bat manure, clay pellets, rock wool, net pots, EVEN the word HYDROPONICS is like alien to 99.99999999% to any Egyptian. I went to the agricultural college to ask about anything to relate to it I didnt find except they are only exposed to this word except for a paragraph in one of their courses. I just want to tell it's very hard to deal with high tech even with old school stuff. So I am doing my best just to explore and understand and will do my best to be introduced to Hydroponics soon I am gathering a list and I will order them online. I already received my flowering light online 180 x 3w 60 degree full spectrum and 5 x 5w total 570W LED I hope it does the job will keep u posted. will repot them in compost, peat moss, perlite mixture 1:1:1 in 5 gallon CLAY pots I hope this will do something about the respiration of the soil. I am planning to go to the workshop of the clay pots and ask them to make some small pellets and try them, you can imagine the hassle of finding everything and try to find the origin of the thing to change there minds about doing it ur way.

So much writing with J in your mouth and closing one of my eyes avoiding the smoke entering my eye :cool:.

Please tell me what do u think about it...waiting for your replies

Peace out.

hey man!

I don't have the knowledge about landrace to say if this is or isn't a landrace, but whaty i can say is that for your first grow with CFL you are handling those girls very nice, they don't seem to have major problems, some of them could eat a little more but all in all it's nice ;)

And if egyptians are so ignorant at growing, make yourself a very solid knowledge and in few years open a growshop maybe :D don't know how loaws are other there i know it's not the coolest but who knows ;)

Thanks for sharing those girls with us man!

good luck

Thanks Dust for your quick reply. Regarding the land race I invite you to come to Egypt and we will take a trip to Sinai a place called Ras Shitan ( Devil's head ) google it. You will experience everything yourself.

On the other hand the nutes still needs mastering from my side but I am doing my best to understand from the experience to expand to Hydroponics and regarding the laws no one understand a thing about this thing so no worries.

Peace out.

for the nutes you should have a look at the powderfeeding by Greenhouse ( powderfeeding.nl ) it is a 1 component fertilizer making it MUUUUCH easier to dose your nutes and the girls love it, you can see many grow report on the forum using it ;)

And it would be a pleasure to come visit egypt my grandma loves this country and culture! ;) but not enough money and many things to do first :)

HAve a goo day! :)

Hello Tokage thanks for the reply, I spray them with SiO2 Silicon Oxide and water PH 6.8 under lights, when they evaporate they leave these spots. It preserves the fan leaves from climate changes if up or down without monitoring. I will change the misting to be in the light off time.

Will keep it posted with new updates.

Peace out.

Aloha Moudak, Thank you for showing us the products you are using in the Middle East. I found the amino acid formulation very interesting. In Hawaii we make our own fish amino acids, and fermented plant juices with amino acids using cane sugar, raw plant materials, and fish waste. Check out Cho Korean Natural Farming on youtube. Research has found a little goes a long way at a dilution rate of 1 to 1,000.

Aloha Oldmarine, Surprisingly the Egyptian market for fertilizers is promising I can find alot of high quality products, I can translate what's written on the packages I got, so you can understand what it is consisted of.

In the mean time I find it very interesting the way you deal with sugar cane as on the other hand we drink it by extracting the juice out of it.

Thanks for sharing the Cho Korean way, I really like it.

Peace out.

Aloha Moudak, We have people here in Hawaii who have roadside stands making fresh sugar cane juice and they do very well with the tourists. I was surprised to see the gibberellic acid nutrients. Be carefull with the plant growth regulator products as it is easy to overdose and mess up an entire crop. With the silica spray you are using we put it in the nutrient solution at 14 PPM (.5 mmol/l). Or with the fermented plant juices using high silica plants like sugar cane,banana, rice, or cucumbers as a raw plant souce works well. Here is some good information from the University of Hawaii and Dr. Hoon Park about growing with IMOs in the tropics.

Thanks popskiller for your kind words :dancing: ... I am glad u liked the grow room, it's part of a dressing room :ok:though it is still needs an upgrade for the flowering phase. I think.

@ oldmarine I finished the article by calling a good florist friend of mine and explaining for him the whole idea and I will be meeting him today to complete the first part of the material list.

will update you with what happened in the process.

Regarding the Gibberellic acid GA3 I found out that It stretched the plant it self a little bit, so I stopped adding the GA3 to my plants. thanks for pointing this out. On the other hand I add the silicon to water and adjust the pH to 6.8 and I spray the plants with it.

Peace out.

Hello Oldmarine,

I read the article and the FAQ's in the webpage, I find it unusual to read such a thing. In the mean time I can assure u that the Red sea water is very salty and some spots contains Sulphur that are hot spots for tourists that needs skin and body treatments.

Will be looking forward to try it.

Thanks for sharing that.

Peace.

moudak, I would dilute the Red Sea water 1 to 30 or 40 with fresh water. Master Cho’s son has created his own methodolgy of Natural Farming which is easier than his fathers methods. His basic recipe for introducing indigenous mycorrhizae to the soil and increasing micro-biological activity on one-quarter acre of land follows. Into 125 gallon container of water, put 5 gallons of ocean water, 6-7 lbs. of sugar, 2 liters of agricultural mineral water (water which has had an aquarium pump circulating the water or has been dropped from 10 feet onto mineral stone or azomite). Now go to a naturally fertile, shaded spot on your land and scoop up a handful of soil off the top ½”: soil that has it’s own mycorrhizae already present and thriving. Add to this, a handful of soil from three different naturally fertile spots. Mix these soils together and take one handful and drop it into a pint of water. Add to the 125 gallons of water. The last ingredient you make in a blender with wild grasses. Pack a blender with wild grass and a little water and blend. Make 2 quarts of this and add it to the 125 gallons of water/mix. Let this mixture sit for 18 to 20 hours. To apply it directly onto the soil, dilute it 10 times. To foliar feed, dilute it 20 times. Apply it during rain or right before rain or in the evening or early morning. This solution can be applied 8 to 10 times a year for the best results.

Aloha Moudak, Male and female flowers on the same plant makes it a hermie. Is that the one you sprayed with gibberellic acid? The photos of the clay pot factory are amazing. We used to put a layer of stones or small shards of broken pots in the bottom to give better drainage and to prevent the soil from getting flushed out the drain hole and ending in the catch tray lower pot we used so we can flush excess salts out of the substrate. Here in the USA using clay pots is rare and most of the large ones now come from Mexico. When I first got into the horticultural field 45 years ago clay pots were the normal way to grow.

Hello Bozoph, I am glad that u liked the Pot yard. Regarding the spots I am not sure if they are mites or not?. But what I am sure of It's nearly impossible to have spider mites but I will check closer with a magnifying glass as mentioned. The spots are from stains that were performed due to potassium Silicate Sio2 added to water and sprayed on the plants.

Aloha oldmarine, These are the ones that I bought earlier with me, I asked the guy to drill a whole at the bottom and thanks for the drainage tip at the end for holding water. My florist friend gave me the tip earlier today as I went to give him the Hermies for outdoor planting.

Regarding the Gibberellic Acid, there was a time that I added Gibberellic Acid to all of them some time ago. But I stopped giving it to them except for 2 that I tested it on for further noticing and surprisingly they were not of them. They didn't show sex yet.

2 females were spotted and they were visited by Gibberellic Acid in earlier days than that.

I bought Peatmoss + Perlite + Compost (Blood nutrition is in the mix) and sand at the bottom of the pots and above it the mix.

Aloha Moudak, Here in Hawaii and the West Coast of the USA IMO innoculated bio char is used to create premium soils and better yields. This may be a good experiment for you to try when you do your next soil mix. Bio char production can be done as a DIY project using small metal cans to produce primo charcoal out of wood.
