PPM/EC readings

2 posts in this topic

Am a total newbie bout to start my first ever NFT grow. My tapwater is 390ppm which equates to 0.7/0.8 EC. When i add my nutrients i presume this EC reading will go up? So do i take my original EC reading as a base figure and the increased EC reading as the true figure ie new reading minus original reading equals EC i need? Sorry guys bit confused here so forgive me.

well that's a question to which you'll get both points of view ^^ Some people say read it with the tap water inside, some don't count it inside, personally i only use the EC values to have a mark of A level, like a reference, so that way you can control if you want more or less of something, but don't only judge byt the EC to feed your girls, the most important value is the plant itself, no matter if you run a 2,3 EC or a 1,6 if you're girls is handling it and is asking for more or less ;)

That beeing said i suggest to alway start on the low doses to have your "reference" and go higher and higher with weeks, so let's say the safest for you is to read the EC with EC of the Tap water included. The more you will use your nutes and the more you will know your line and what yur girls can handle.

Good luck man ;)

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
