Aloha Marine. Is it in Washington the federal law has their seat of power?

If a change come do they vote in Washington first?

How does it work?

Aloha Tokage, We are dealing with federal laws (some that passed many years ago) that these new laws passed by the people of Washington State and Colorado are in direct conflict with the 50 State (covering all the USA) wide bans. The issue may have to go to the Federal Court System which may end up at the Supreme Court based and located in Washington DC to be decided by nine members of our Highest Court. With President Obama not having to worry about getting re-elected he may have the option to change the classification of Cannabis so it is not treated under federal law like hard drugs like heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine. What he decides to do may have a lasting impact on how the Obama Presidency is remembered in historical terms. We do know he used Cannabis when he was younger and he is a big fan of President Lincoln who ended slavery. Recent history has shown he tries to avoid the issue, he had a hard time quitting his tobacco habit, and his two young daughters influence him and his treatment of issues dealing with the drug problems here in the USA. He is also faced with a debt problem and a war on drugs that is expensive and often counter productive when dealing with his people of color minority political base that re-elected him. President Obama recently stated that he considers people who use Cannabis are not high on his list of problems and he is more concerned about the "big fish" will get the attention. Here is a recent case from the Seattle area that provides a little insight into the situation.

Cannabis is federally listed as a Schedule I Narcotic under the Controlled Substance Act. This means it has no accepted medicinal value with a high potential for abuse with psychological or physical dependence. Cocaine is a Schedule II as it has known medicinal value (topical anesthetic for eye surgery) with a high potential for abuse, less risk for dependency.

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
