Those who are in to hydro

Hi Guys... Those who are in to hydro, I would like your opinion on the system explained in the video... they called it a DWC, it's kind of a full time running Flood & Drain using bubles on the tray too!!!

Some hydro system are fraught with dangers;

the roots still need heaps of oxygen, and in some systems, where the roots are continually wet, can create the ideal conditions for serious root disease.

Personally I grow hydro, but I water by hand; it gives me much greater control.

I've tried to do a raft before. Convoluted and not stable at all. Frankly, it was a pain in the ass.

It makes sense if you have a raft load of plants, like lettuce, but with weed, you have individual plants that finish when they finish.

I am a strong advocate of DWC, I use it exclusively in my grows.

I made it myself, it's grown to now a series of 8 5 gal buckets, and a 35 gallon rez. I use a high out put pump, and a manifold along the floor of soft black 1/2 hose with 1/4 turn valves to shut off buckets and drain the whole system.

I do combine in veg with DWC, growing 3 plants each in a row, then pulling them out when they are ready for the 5 gal buckets.

That way they never need a drip down system and all they need is light, air, nutes, and water. If the power goes out they will live for days. They may lose some roots, but I have had mine down for over a day with no problem.

Also, if you try to harvest plants at different times, you will leave root in the water that will die, and your tub will get nasty. So, separate when possible
