Update: Day 17 Blue OG, Day 1 Purple Maroc

Purple Maroc sprouted today and has begun it's life under the same conditions as the Blue OG. The Blue OG looks like she is going to have a lot of potential bud sites. If you look at the side view picture you can see there is a lot of branching going on. I think I may FIM right after the 5th internode for the main cola and other side colas to really fill up the screen when they are ready. Seems to be a couple of tiny flies buzzing around so I sprayed with Don't Bug Me by Fox Farms if it gets worse I will use Azamax by General Hydroponics instead.

Fed the Blue OG today:

--3/4 cup of Growilla Veg Food

--2 liters of water

--Couple of drops of Superthrive

--1/2 teaspoon of Cal-Mag+

Update: Day 19 Blue OG, Day 3 Purple Maroc

Bad news: Blue OG got severe nutrient burn from the Growilla Veg Food. I'm assuming it's nutrient burn if anyone else has any input feel free to reply. The Growilla Veg Food is a top feed (soil dressing) so I'm not sure how to go about flushing. I removed most of the top feed from the soil that I was able to and flushed with oxygenated water and a couple of drops of Superthrive. pH in was about 6.5 and runoff about 6.0. Hopefully she reacts well and comes back to life.

Good news: Purple Maroc is looking fine as I watered her today with a couple of drops of Superthrive as well to get her going. I'm also in the process of germinating Bubblegummer and she's in the process of sprouting right now.

sorry to hear about the overfeeding man, looks indeed like some kind of burn, light or feeding i don't know but the lil flush will not hurt her if it's nute, i hope she will bounce back quickly man.

Have a good grow thanks for the updates

Thanks Dust, It looks pretty severe and different than most nutrient burns I've seen and it only started looking like this 1 day after I fed so I'm assuming it's nutrient burn. The leaves are kind of twisted in the new growth on the main cola. I decided to FIM her right after the 5th node so she doesn't waste energy trying to revive the new growth and instead putting more energy into creating new branches. I raised the lights a couple of inches as well so hopefully she bounces back. I'm just really bummed because she was doing so well and immediately after feeding she went to crap.

were you bottles new or old ones? sometimes with old bottles it can do some things like this. but i answered in your infirmary thread i hope you will solve it :)

Dust, it's a top feed fertilizer. It's an organic mixture of many things and you spread it over the top of the soil and water. I just bought it so it's fairly new.

Update: Day 22 Blue OG, Day 6 Purple Maroc, Day 2 Bubblegummer

Blue OG: I "FIM" the top of the Blue OG a few days ago and she seems to react well to it. The lower branches are really growing and some of the branches have 2 or 3 nodes and they just started growing those after I "FIM". The newer growth seems much healthier. I did another mini-flush today with 1 gallon of water and a few drops of SuperThrive. She seems to be coming back to life. I probably won't give her any nutrients for at least another week. Water pH ~6.2 & Runoff ~6.2.

Purple Maroc: She's still young and growing. I watered her today with water and SuperThrive. Water pH ~6.2 & Runoff ~6.2.

Bubblegummer: She's just a baby. I transplanted her into her permanent home. Water pH ~6.2 & Runoff ~6.2.

*pH seems to be in a good range and the runoff too for all 3 plants.

**Blue OG is recovering

Alright guys, I haven't updated in awhile. Today is day 17 of Flower of 8 weeks. I haven't digressed from my basic set-up at all, except I added a humidifier in the room during veg and the first 2 weeks of flower. The humidity was at around 60% during that time now it's at around 35-45% now and I'm going to keep it there to really push for the trichome production. I changed watering to every 4 days, also to promote trichome production by letting it dry out a day longer. I've been battling fungus gnats, I was using Azamax as a drench and it didn't work as well as I wanted so I switched to SNS 209 formulated to attack fungus gnat larvae. I'll see how that goes. Also, I added Botanicare organic compost tea as an supplement to let the plants have access to more micronutrients and enhance aroma/taste (also used with a flush to to battle deficiencies/lock out). I added Dyna- Gro Pro-Tekt silica to help endure my higher temperatures of 85-90 F, protect my plants from pests, and build a sturdier frame to hold up more weight. I also foliar feed epsom salt because it looks as if some of my plants are a little magnesium deficient. I use everything at about .5-.75 of recommended strength. Also I have two 6500 k and two 3000k in the Tek-4 PLL-55watt right now.

The Bubblegummer (bottom left) has hardly had any problems at all. Recommended for beginners like myself. Purple Maroc (bottom right) has been sick all her life yet she is still growing and looks alot healthier than she did. She looks deficient in magnesium but I'm not really sure so I foliar feed Epsom Salt to her every couple days. Although, battling sickness, her bud sites are all taking on a purple color and putting out trichomes already. The Blue OG (top middle) is my favorite she came back from the nutrient burn in the beginning of veg and now she is very strong and branchy and has many budsites with trichomes building as well. Can't wait to see her start adding weight. I've been practicing defoliation of the fan leaves and shady spots to a medium extreme leaving all possible budsites alone. I won't defoliate for another week or so until they stop stretching then I'm going to expose those budsites to the light and hopefully increase my overall yield.

thnks for the pics man the laies are looking pretty nice except the one that is always sick, do you have some bottles of booster with micronutrients etc? looks like an immobile def so usually adding some of those booster can fix most of them if it's not only magnesium involved, who knows could help ;)

Have a good grow keep us updated

the botanicare thing should do the trick if it has a lot of diferent nutes in it, but usually botanicare is pretty complete. When i used boosters bottle i used to like the Bio heaven from biobizz, it's ht eonly bottle that i kept using even when i stopped using biobizz and i always had very good results with it. So you could maybe give it a try, or compare with the botanicare bottle and see if there is a lot of diference.

good luck man

Watered 4 days from last post. Noticed magnesium deficiency (or at least i think it is) hasn't really gone away so I put 4 teaspoons of epsom salt in a gallon of nutrients instead of foliar feeding it. We'll see how that ends up, if no improvements than I'll add Botanicare Cal-Mag instead. I gave it about 75% strength of the Botanicare Bloom, Pro-Tekt, Pure Blend Tea, and a full strength of SNS. The fungus gnat problem has decreased radically but I still see a few. I do the SNS drench and the Azamax foliar below the canopy (where they hang out).

No noticeable nutrient burns/deficiencies from the last water. Everything is good. Blue OG is getting frosty, Purple Maroc is getting long trichome production as well, Bubblegummer just started putting out trichomes. Probably defoliate the large main fan leaves to expose the bud-sites either tomorrow or the day after and stop tucking for SCROG and let them grow up)

Nice scrog set-up you have goin on there with some pretty young buds, and cool selection of some interesting strains for your first grow :) I look forward to seeing the results of the defoliation and hope things go smoothly for you man

Peace

Thanks Smokey, if I could i would definitely had nailed or stapled the screen to a frame to keep the flat shape because this one is becoming somewhat warped on the edges. The defoliation really helps me get the light distributed evenly to every bud-site. The Blue OG really loves it because she has real tight internodes spacing and you could already see the whole branch is going to be one solid bud (she's the one in the back)

Here are some pics of defoliation 3 days ago vs. now. And then the last two are the colas of all 3 and the blue og in the back.

Watered today. I added Botanicare Cal-Mag+ instead of epsom salt but a very low dose (50%). Shitty thing is I forgot to check my pH before watering but I know without Cal-Mag my pH is usually around 6.3-6.5 and hopefully the Cal-Mag doesn't throw the pH off too bad and it stays within 6.0 -7.0 pH. Other than that the ladies are looking pretty good. Blue OG has dense tight buds forming with trichomes becoming more numerous and smells like blueberries (really like this pheno alot). The Bubblegummer is a little behind the others maturity wise yet she is the youngest. She's barely starting to form buds and has a little trichome production but she is smelling slightly sweet. The Purple Maroc is rock hard and really dense. Her colas have nice structure and shape are very tight and compact which wasn't expected because her internodal spacing was large. Purple Maroc smells citrusy and earthy.

Day 28 of Flower. Noticed some lower leaves are Nitrogen deficient so I added 1/2 cup of Growilla Veg Food the top soil (100% organic). Stayed about 75% strength on all the nutrients and supplements. pH is about 6.3-6.4. Swapped the spectrum around to a blue:red ratio of 1:3 instead of 2:2 to further imitate the changing of seasons in nature. I also added a 1.5 teaspoons of Grandmas Unsulphured Molasses (hoping to add to the aromas, add to the yield, and to allow access to further micronutrients). The smell is very pungent when moving around the bud sites.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile, but after harvest and drying I got around 60 grams total. Not exactly what I wanted but it was a good learning process. Thats about .27 gpw which is low in my books. The buds were finished smoked very smooth and their flavor was amazing. The high was a 3 out of 5 except the bubblegummer which was definitely a 4.5/5. Overall, I think the light was not that great for flowering. So I decided to upgrade my setup. I ended up getting the greenhouse powder feeding for mostly indica just because of the simplicity of having a one part fertilizer. I got 4 pro DWC buckets and a 400 watt Pro Grow LED (maybe another the next round after that). I'll be running 2 Think Different and 2 Afghan Kush Ryder in the buckets. I can't wait to see what turns up like, I'll be starting in about a week or so!
