White Rhino Micro Grow

32 posts in this topic

After reading xxx's thread I decided to give the White Rhino a go. Seeing that I'm a noob on the forum, I will start small and gradually move up.

Attached is the WR in her new home. She is being kept in a veg state by using a 85W cfl. I'm still considering whether I'll do a full pc grow or if I'll flower her out in a micro scrog box. The box is already build. Just need a new facelift and a movement of fans and we are all set.

I will be having thread on that box build. I just love DIY. Especially after a wake and bake. Will be starting tomorrow morning ( Monday )

Soil:

30% Coco Coir

50% Perlite

20% Compost

Feeding:

Homemade worm tea

Worm Compost Top Layer

Pot Size(s):

Pc Grow - 15cm (10inch)

Micro Scrog - 5L ( not sure of gallon size )

Am I forgetting something????

Blessings

Looks pretty good so far, although I can't tell how old it is.

Do you have the fan pulling air in or out?

Ahoy

This cutting is about 2 months old. I didn't know what I wanted to do with it until now. She was trimmed before taking this pic cause I wanted to set my branches in place. I always say, " a good grow needs a proper foundation to start from"

The bottom fan is pulling air in and top fan is sucking it out. Luckily that 85W doesn't get to warm.

Very cool man that's a huge trunk and she has a very cool shape! :) I'm glad you decided to start up a journal and I agree with you about having a good foundation. Best of luck I will grab a seat.

Ok so I guess its due time for an update. But unfortunately there isn't much to comment on. I thought the lady was fine in her current pot but she has been standing still for a while now and the rootball lifts out of the pot which means its time for that move. I will be repotting her into a 5L pot tomorrow. Then 4weeks veg and then flip time. But only if there is sufficciant growth.

So I'll update as soon as she is repotted and growing.

Thanx for the well wishes Gonzo. It payed off and the ldady is growing again like a mofo. LoL. I was worried a bit in the beginning cause there just wasn't any growth, but she started again which makes Stinky Pete a happy man.

Well, I was happy until I saw small yellow spots on the leafs and after CLOSE inspection I saw the little fuckers. Spidermite again !!!!!!!!!

And with me slowly moving over to FULL ORGANIC I refused to use any chemical pesticides. So I got myself a small bottle of Citronella Essential Oil. 10 drops to 2L of water and then I sprayed the whole plant. And when I swa the whole plant I mean the WHOLE plant. When I was finished I though that I might get charged with "raping" the plant. But it worked. NO MORE SPIDERMITE.

Clove oil is a little bit better to use cause the Citronella has a sharp smell, but I like the smell so I'm good.

The lady was topped on all her main grow points. By the looks of it she has to veg another 3 weeks and then I'm flipping the switch. And then I'll have more constant photo updates.

Growth doesn't look like much but actually when I LST this lady she fils 90% of the potproper LST will be started this weekend. I have also noticed that somehow pests has invaded my box. And its not a kind that I've seen before. The damage is the same as Spidemite but the pest looks like aphids , but brown/red. I am gonna give a new homemade remedy a go on saturday which consists of the following:

Ingredients:

Milk

Water

Garlic Powder

Sunlight Liquid

Other:

2L Bottle

Spray Bottle

Measuring Jug

Pour 1 L of water into a measuring jug

Add 2 Full Teaspoons of Sunlight Liquid to the water

Pour contents into 2L Bottle

Add Half a Cup of Milk to the mixture in the 2L Bottle

Add 2 Heaped Teaspoons of Garlic Powder

*If you couldn’t find Garlic Powder and could only find the flakes then first crush the flakes until powder.

Close and Shake the bottle until everything has mixed and leave it to stand for 24 hours shaking every now and again.

You can now apply your BugJuice to your plants using a Spray Bottle

Hopefully that sorts out my pest problem. I will report back as soon as I did the deed.

Blessings

UPDATE TIME:

I kept this White Rhino quite for a while cause we all know what a veging plant looks like. And with Micro, veging doesn't look as cool as HPS or Outdoor plants.

She is now 3 or 4 weeks into flower. ( Didn't keep track )

I took her this morning and just went ape shit with trimming and cleared ALL bottom growth to focus only on the main colas. I will from now on update a bit more with pics. ( Think I manged to sort out my upload prob Mr.Green)

I also noticed that she started pushing out Pink Pistils which is quite cool for me. Hopefully she keeps it up.

That's it for now

Love and Light

Hey Guys.

Its " TEACH PEAT " time.

Attachd is 2 pics of my lady and her problem. She is clawing and a deficiancy is more than visible. Yesteday I flushed her with twice the volume of water and gave a light feed. Afterwards I'm not sure whether that was a good idea. Should've kept the feeding away for a day or 2.

Now, is the clawing due to a PH problem amd is that a Magnesium Deficiancy ???

I got 10L of worm tea yesterday so I will be using that throughout flowering. We used a higher N than P feed last season with molasses and the plants were FAT. Wna see how they react with worm tea.

I have always been a fan of colored pistils, and always wanted to try those strain that has deep purple buds with red/pink pistils. But like I said, I hope the color sticks and spreads.

Bro those pink pistils are cool as hell man where do I get me some!! DAMN!!!

I'm not very good yet at diagnosing nutrient deficiencies and would prefer to leave that to the more experienced growers here. But you might be onto something with pH, do you pH your feed water? Run-off water? Hope things get better brother!

Peace

Just saw this Pete, but what did you do to cause that to happen?

Also about the Molasses and the worm tea, those things work via the soil, and the soil only works when you don't use chemicals bcuz the chemicals kill the micro organisms that make the nutirents available to the plants in the soil.

So using the worm tea and the molasses might not give you the results that your looking for, when you use them in conjunction with chemicals.

With synthetic nutrients, they come in a chemical form that the plants can use right away. In organics, all the raw organic amendments must be converted in the soil to a plant usable form by the micro organisms. Right outta the bags, organic amendments can't be used by our plants.

So with that said, until you got FULLY organic, I would say to leave them out of the equation, other wise they might just make other things mess up.

For example, when you start your organic garden you have to stop thinking in terms of feeding the plant, and start thinking in terms of feeding you soil, like in nature when leaves fall and decompose, and when animals poop on the ground, etc.

You also don't flush organics either because an organic soil is designed to retain nutrients until the plants ask for them.

Just some food for thought tho :D

Bless bro

Smokey, I was also quite surprised o find these pink pistils on her and like I said I hope she goes throughout the flowering stage keeping them. These beans I got from a local breeder and the dude is quite good at what he does.

Mr.G, what did I do ??? I have no idea man. I kinda forgot about this plant cause all my focus was on other plants. And I feel pretty shit for finding her like this.

I am SO over Chemicals. I think I might have given to much at 1 point and not flushing the soil also did no good.

I really hope I manged to help her early enough cause this will surely affect the bud production and size.

Some update pics on the lady. The pink pistils has dissapeared sadly but I noticed that they come out on early sexing only. Some new shoots started flowering and its all pink there. Pity though.

BUT, the 1 thing that is not a pity is this White Rhino. Her smells is so good and smells sweet throughout the house.

Thanx for the kind words Smokey.

2 reasons for doing it this way. I wanted to push as much energy as possible into the main colas, seeing that this a micro grow and also the newly developed bud sites that's coming out will push through into the growing season, thus making it 2 harvests from 1 plant.

Crystals is starting to "take over" and things is getting very interesting here.

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
