Dust Posted February 17, 2014 Share Posted February 17, 2014 it could come from here then, for a thin layer at the bottom of the pots wth soil above i don't find it really really necessary to soak, but for full clayballs system like this where it is the main medium i think it is important, it is just amazing the quantity of dirt those balls can contain. maybe try to check if the water flowing thru the pots comes out clean or a little redder or dirty. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
zub0 Posted February 17, 2014 Share Posted February 17, 2014 hi G i have a drip feed dwc without airstone with clayballs running pf, and i have to drop the ph 3 times a day as it goes up to 6.3-6-4 i washed my clay until runnoff water was clean, then i poored ph balanced 5,5 water over them the clayballs several times, so i guess i have an issue with it also not sure why this is happenng 3 times aday. Jose.gh Posted February 18, 2014 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Hi friends, My experience with clay is not very wide, but for several years utilce clay crops. What I did was put in the tub all the clay with water and reduce the PH long, long. Leave a couple of days so.Clay ascended the ph very quickly, changing water, lower the ph again, watching the level during the two days to always be low.So GOT stabilize the pH of the clay, but the clay always slowly (almost invisible particles) that make up the ph always breaks down. But being submerged for two days with ph 3 people helped a lot to not raise the pH too much during cultivation. A good alternative to clay, is sustraro coconut, is also inert and very good. Big'G' Posted February 27, 2014 Author Share Posted February 27, 2014 Brothers and Sistersafter a few feeds I find that my ph doesn't seem to change as much maybe by .6 rise in Ph. I put this down to the clay balls not being thoroughly rinsed enough ( I made a good job first time round I thought).So I say once you have rinsed your clay balls and are happy with them, do it all over again. In conclusion I will again flush the pots with 30L of Ph5.5 at the end of the grow cycle and hope it does the job. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
