I am new here and a new grower as well.  I live in New England, U.S  and we have a relatively short season.   I was thinking about trying to grow inside but the cost of a major setup, as well as having a place to put it does not really work.  I tried to start some plants with a grow light, but my house over the winter was just too cold.  I had a few "Nobodies"  (what my friend and I call bag seed)  survive the Winter, but I felt that for me just starting in the Spring indoors and moving everyone outside once it got warm is a better way to go.  I have a few feminized, plants and one auto.  Everything is growing incredibly and I have two questions for anyone out there.   One is about topping and trimming.  Last year I had a few small plants and a friend said I should top it and trim it to make more buds.  And it did, but it was a small plant and the buds were small. This year I have huge plants and did not touch them.  My gardening guru (she grows vegetables like no one else), seems to think that topping and trimming will cause the plant to spend more energy splitting and the buds will be less potent.  Has anyone experimented with this?  I like my huge girls now and feel they look worlds better than last year.   Also do you support tall plants,  like a tomato plant gets a stake?  The friend who continues to prune the plants, has done this with quality seeds and the product to me did not  do anything for me.   Just sayin.   LOL

Yes of course if the plants need support at some time you can put some bamboo sticks or a big net around the plant to hold the branches like they do in Cali for example :)

For the topping, if you dont have problem with the height and your girls are doing very good like this, i wouldnt touch them as well, i dont mind using various techniques indoor, and still when i can i try to let them grow naturally, just pinching the trunk to encourage a little lateral growth maybe, but not much more, so if your plant do good let her alone :)

I hope we will see a little grow journal for those lady one day ;)

Have a good grow!

Thanks for the help.  I have not trimmed or cut any of the plants.   My auto is almost finished and she really looks great.   I have a few other ladies just about to blossom, and then there are the nobodies (my term for bag seed).  It is amazing to me that the nobodies are towering over my head and have really shown a vigor in growth that only one of the feminized seeds are showing.   They are starting to pre flower now and I think I may have mostly females.  I will know in another week or so who lives and who dies, of those.  I am interested to see how the different plants smoke.   I have some photos but as of yet have been a little paranoid about posting them up on the web.   I took your advice and put some stakes, everyone seems happy.

Them males normally grow with a lot of vigor in my experience , good luck. I only top or super crop to keep the height down if required. We have a short summmer season in NL, I am growing just autoflowers in 20 litre pots this year and got some good sized plants
