Astonished NOT to find a topic bout this yearly event. In fact this year I am planning to go there at least for the main event. 

The band playing the Melkweg this year will be one of these great new Roots Rock reggae Groups from the US.  Checking the scene out i was amazwed to hear how good these acts play that type of Reggae, that bridges Rock fans with the Roots Reggae message/vibes - Rebelution and SOJA are among the best and Rebelution is bookedv for the Cup. But this is not the only reason why I want to go there this year. I am pretty sure a few more of you guys will be in A'dam for the Cup and it would be nice if we could have a meeting at the Greenhouse or find a place to rent etc.

So if you are thinking bout going to A'Dam for the Cup this year tell us.

I will check for a link, so that everybody knows when the Cup takes placce and what is going on in town..

Hej Bam buddy, Soja is a wonderful group. Nice mellow voice and good lyrics. I have never heard that other group and must give it a try.
This year it seems i got to stay home. I went to Htcc 3 years in a row and feel kind of down to not be able to go a fourth.

I had to use my money for a sick pet and while i not regret that a bit i still feel a bit down. But im sure i can live thru others that will make threads about it.

Seems  as if I can make it with my buddy ifonly for the Final day/night at the Melkweg. Will try to order tickets- unless someone has a room for the night we drive back early next morning.

I suggest we make an apointment at say 5 pm or 8 pm at the Greenouse or at any other location

Daaammn what are you saying? I didnt know rebelution was coming this year and i would have rather prefered not to know haha ;)  Well i wish you a great show to the ones going, i have never seen this band in live as they dont often come in europe but like Bam said it is a nice mix of reggae/rock and other vibrations.

 

Who knows maybe in the end i will pass one day but i really dont think.

BTW you gotta take a look at the various Coffeeshop entries - Flowers / imported Hash + extracts - oh so pretty looking, nearly to cute to smoke ..lol

A pity getting even a gram of say 5 of your favorites  would cost a fortune AND no way I wanna smoke that all on a day trip. Sadly taking the rest home is highly risky esp. when you got a lot of weed at home anyway..lol

Purpose of Strain Hunters

Our planet is home to millions of species of animal and plants with their own habitat, and each plays a unique role in the perfect design of nature. Unfortunately many species of plants and animals are victim of uncontrolled human development. The sole intent of Strain Hunters is to identify, locate and retrieve cannabis landraces that have not yet been studied, in order to give scientists and doctors the possibility to further enhance knowledge of the cannabis plant in the medicinal field.


Preservation of Landraces

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.

Cannabis should not be illegal


One of the goals of the United Nations, published years ago in official reports, was to wipe out the cannabis plant from the face of the earth by the year 2010. In reality this is far from being achieved, because man keeps using the cannabis plant for religious, medicinal and recreational purposes no matter what the law says. Most cultures cannot comprehend how a plant can be made illegal. In most people’s perception, plants and animals stand above a status of legality or illegality, they just exist in a higher design of nature that goes beyond human laws and regulations.

Nevertheless most governments of cannabis- producing countries are implementing drastic measures to destroy crops. Dangerous chemicals are sprayed over fields and over the farmers themselves in most of the third world countries, and the poorest people of the planet are the ones paying the highest price for cultivating a plant that does not kill. But in the economy of scale, where demand dictates supply, the poorest people of the planet have no choice but to cultivate cannabis as a cash crop to feed their children and send them to school. Communities that are isolated in remote areas in the poorest regions of the planet are often the keepers of very special landraces.
