money maker

so, i just began my latest grow, and it is with the strain "money maker" from the strain hunters seedbank.
to begin with, (i may change this as the plants develop) my environment will be a 1x1x2M grow tent, with a 600 watt dual spectrum growlux bulb. temperature is usually around 28°C - 30°C when light is on. will be running an 18/6 light schedule to being with as well.
medium i am using for this time will be, canna coco professional, in 20L pots, i will be using canna coco A&B nutrients as well. i have some plant magic cal-mag on hand as well in case it may be needed later as calcium deficiencies are to be expected when growing in coco. i may use some PK13/14 later in their life, however, that is not set in stone yet.
As of just now the seeds have already germinated. took less than 36 hours for most of them to "hatch". To germinate, i placed them on a plate between a few sheets of dampened, folded toilet paper, then placed the plate in a ziplock bag (unzipped), wet the inside of the bag with a sprayer bottle of water, and placed the bag with the plate close to a heater in my house. 4 seeds were put to germinate, and all four hatched without problem.
the seedlings have now been moved in to their pots, and are in the tent where they will spend most (if not all) of their lives.
the light is roughly 2 feet above the pots for the sake of temperature (i don't want to fry my new children, however i dont want them to stretch too much either)
the seedlings are about two days old (2 days in pots) and are mostly about an inch tall. they all look healthy enough. nice stalks, and nice cotyledon, all round, so far so good.
they will only receive water for the first while of their lives, (until i feel they may require something else)
i will keep people posted of any changes as i go.
i'll try to keep updating this at least twice a week
hopefully have some pics to go along with things as well if i can figure out how to upload them, lol

anyone have any questions about the strain, or anything they would like me to particularly pay attention to throughout the grow, feel free to ask, and i'll do what i can to help. If anyone has any info on this strain as well and would like to offer me some advice, i'd be happy to hear of anyone else' experiences with this particular strain.

Day 4 so far, and everything looking good. Environment hasn't changed as of yet. still in the 1x1x2 tent with the 600w HPS. i have an RVK125 running through a carbon filter for extraction (the carbon filter obviously isn't necessary yet, but attaching it from the start saves me having to do it later, and it does no harm being there anyway).
added an oscillating fan to the tent to give a gentle breeze to the plants to encourage healthy stalk formation/strength. today was the first day i introduced any nutrition. i used the canna coco A&B. 2ml's of each A&B per liter (4mls in total) only needed to make a liter of nutrient as they don't require much watering at the moment. the liter was shared evenly between the four plants. the plants weren't showing any signs of requiring nutrients today. i have just chosen to administer them now, as i want to see if the plants respond well to them, and if they do i hope it will promote an overall healthy early vigor to the plant (this is my own hypothesis at least)
plants are now approx' 2-2.5 inches tall. some are showing their third truss of leaves already, although they are absolutely tiny.
i have pictures however i can't figure out how to upload them yet, if anyone can help with that, would be much appreciated.
i'll continue to update every few days, as always if there is anything anyone wants to know which i have't already covered, feel free to ask anything, also if anyone has any information on the strain "money maker" they would like to share, feel free to do so as well.

Day 7: environment is still the same. plants are now consuming roughly a third of a liter, (almost) each day, at a concentration of 2ml A & 2ml B per liter of filtered water (i live in a soft water area anyway, but i never like to trust tap water.)
plants are now only a little taller than they were three days ago, however their third truss of leaves are now starting to become more obvious and developed. stalks are thickening (by an unmeasurable amount unless i had a macrometer, but its obvious to the eye)
light is still no further than 2 foot away from plants at all times. 18 hours light, and 6 hours dark. oscillating fan creating a gentle breeze to keep temps nice, and stalks strong.
I'm thinking i will see how they look in another two weeks, and then perhaps turn them over to bloom, but it will depend on how large they are. they may even get another month. i will try and take some pics again in the next day or two.

Day Thirteen (if i'm remembering correctly))

money maker Day 13

money maker Day 13(1)

seen a huge change in the development of the plants over the last four to five days. they have grown up, stretched out, and grown beefier in their stalks. they are still in the same environment as mentioned in the first post, nothing seems to have changed in that aspect. they are still being fed, 2ml A, and 2ml B of canna coco nutritients, per liter of filtered water. i am checking no EC, no PH, nothing like this. I'm wanting to keep things completely simple in the hope that anyone reading this wont feel overwhelmed with any of the amount of information it requires to grow a cannabis plant. it can be done with little, to no skill at all. however, saying that, the old saying "you reap what you sow" means a lot. you show love, you'll get love back, you don't care about a plant, don't expect to have the best weed, it wont happen. that being said, there is no reason you can't have completely acceptable weed, if you just take the minimum amount of time and effort it requires.
the plants are drinking nearly half a liter a day, maybe every three days or so, they get a quarter liter for a day, but mostly half liter a day at, the above mentioned concentration. plants have been getting irregularly sprayed with water from a spray gun bottle. maybe once of twice a day, and not every day.

as always, anyone wanting to know anything, or wanting to give any advice specific to this strain, please feel free to ask/say. i'll do what i can to help, where and when i can.

today was the first day the plants required/deserved a liter of feed each. yesterday they were not fed (but were sprayed) and they seemed as though they could do with a nice big drink after the drought, so they got a liter of filtered water with 2ml A & 2ml B of canna coco nutrients. standard concentration they've been getting, but just double the volume. plants seem healthy, although one is starting to look a little different, if it gets any worse, i will upload pictures for people to see, but im thinking its perhaps just because of the drought yesterday, i imagine it should look better tomorrow again anyway. fingers crossed

If you're meaning the pics of the youngest ones, then yeah, the pics were taken just before watering, and when they were that young, they were getting about 330mls of feed (almost) every day, and that's in to a 20l pot, so they were drying out nicely before i fed them again. its important to let things dry out enough, as roots absorb nutrients best at approx 30% moisture.

everything looking good (enough, lol), however seems like i have a possible two different pheno's. two look very similar to each other, and the other two, look a little different. one of the other two also has some nutrient issues. it has stopped drinking as much now, and seems to be looking a little lighter green/yellow than i would like in the centre of its leaves. without getting to technical about it, I'm going to go for a generic fix-up; i fed it a little bit of nutrients tonight with a little bit of Rhizotonic (2ml per liter) although the nutrient was made up to a liter for concentration purposes, i did not use the entire liter for this one. she was already wet from the last couple of feeds as she seems to have stopped drinking as much as the rest. hopefully the Rhizotonic will help, tomorrow will let me know if it has or not. if it seems like its not working, i will simply go and flush the pot with filtered water, and see how it responds to that. usually fixes most things if caught early enough.
all of the other three plants seem to be perfect. nice green color, nice structure, nice rate of growth as well. will try and take pics soon to show the differences between the plants. differences might seem a little more subtle in picture though, but seem obvious to myself.

Day 20

money maker Day 20

money maker Day 20

money maker Day 20

money maker Day 20

two pics there show my ill plant. i believe it could be an MB, or B (or both) deficiency, and i think i have caused it myself from letting things become a little too dry (you were right PrimalHaze). This is only my third time growing in Coco, i normally prefer to grow in Soil, but for certain reasons, i am using coco at the moment. i sometimes forget to differentiate between the two.
i have fed the ill plant a liter of nutrient today, consisting of 2.5ml A, 2.5ml B, 3ml Rhizotonic, and .4ml plant magic magne-cal. my theory is, i have already fed it (the sick one) 2ml of Rhizoptonic and it responded well, so i am upping its dosage. it should be able to take up to 4ml per liter anyway, so its still not full strength. the magne-cal is supposed to be used at .5ml-1ml per liter, yet i dont want to use it full strength yet either, hence the small amount used. i am merely testing to see if the plant responds well to it or not. it is drinking more than it had been. it seemed to have stopped for a day or two, but then came back, its still drinking a little less than the rest, but still getting fed roughly the same amount. id rather have it too wet now, than too dry, coco will never clog like dirt anyway, so it will still get a nice amount of air to the roots even if i keep it saturated.
the rest of the plants, i'm perfectly happy with. they seem to have no problems as of yet (touch wood). seem to be growing at a nice rate, reaching a nice height. i might leave them another week yet at least before switching lights to flower.
plants have had a lite trim as well. i removed the bottom branches, and some of the plants second truss as well. going to let them grow another week before i think about looking at anymore that may need to come off. i especially don't want to over stress this ill one anymore than it already is.
everything else has stayed constant, environment etc, the nutrient concentration has risen to 2.5ml of each per liter, and will possibly rise later this week again to 3ml of each a&b per liter.
anyone have any suggestions on the strain (or the illness now, lol), please feel free to send them my way, also, likewise, if you have any questions, feel free to ask

day 24 to be exact today, but pics taken yesterday.

money maker Day 23

money maker Day 23

money maker Day 23

money maker Day 23

plants seem to be doing well. the one which was ill is now looking a lot better. they are drinking 3ml a & 3ml b per liter of water. plants are still drinking roughly a liter a feed a day. environment stayed the same so far. was really hoping to have these a little bigger before flowering but due to certain commitments i think i will have to flower them earlier than i would prefer to, perhaps in a week or even less. if curiosity gets the better of anyone, the little pots in the pictures are the seedling for my next grow journal which is of Buddha seeds Auto Purple Kush. they're not even really properly out of the coco yet though.
Not sure what else to say about the money maker... oh yeah, they are starting to smell... and not just that chlorophyll smell of plants growing, it smells of weed, and smells quite nice already. hopefully things will only keep getting better.

Thanks for the advice. yeah, I'm running an RVK 125 at the moment, but my environment is away to be getting upgraded soon to incorporate an input and exhaust fans. and there will be a distinct increase in grow space as well with all hope. i'll keep it all updated here though.

Day 26: I'm over-all satisfied with the plant so far. i was hoping to have been able to grow (veg) them for a little longer, but because of other commitments, flowering will begin now as of this Monday. it will be just over a month veg for each plant before they bloom.

money maker Day 26

this is how they look right now. I'm pleased at the result from the one which was showing signs of illness. it seems to have recovered almost fully, however it does still get a half dose of Rhizotonic whenever it looks like it might be a little under the weather. the Rhizotonic seems to be doing well, and it is one thing i would suggest most people have on hand just in case their plants ever have to endure any length of stress, shock, or just general ill health. it does help. I'm not claiming its a miracle though. please understand that.
the plants have been getting fed 3ml A & 3ml B of canna coco nutrients, per liter of water, and have been drinking still around a liter each. i expect when i begin to bloom, they will begin to require more and more feed of course. they have been getting sprayed with water at least once a day normally as well.
environment is still the same. temps haven't really changed, light still the same etc.
not sure what else to say right now, as i'm still a little disappointed i'm having to rush these. anyway, lets just hope they still stay nice and healthy, and i can get some nice smoke from then :)
happy smoking peeps, and as always, any questions or suggestions, feel free to send them over

  • 2 weeks later...

8 days since last updated (my bad, sorry folks) been having issues with creating new environments, and spaces, but things seem to be looking good again. the plants were moved in to a new environment (which is still having some teething issues, but nothing major) during the week, around Tuesday, i think it happened. the new environment is 1.2mX2.4mX2m, and walled with diamond reflective sheeting. it is equipped with one 600 watt air cooled light, run through a RAM125, connected to a carbon filter. later i hope to add another air cooled light as well, but i want to see how things go with just one at the moment.
the lighting schedule for the plants was changed on the previous Monday, so they have almost been a week in (5 days approx).

money maker in coco, in new setup

money maker in coco, in new setup

my four money makers and their new environment

plants are fed a liter and a quarter of nutrients mixed to a concentration of 16ML A & 16ml B per 5 liter of water (in a bucket) i think the concentration will continue to rise lately as they begin to flower.
i am unaware of the temperature for the space right now as my thermometer is used somewhere else for the time being. i can say though, the new air cooled light is allowing me to have the 600 watts, about 4"-6" under the glass cover and they have no problems with temperature so far at all.
i will be adding an air input fan (most likely an RVK100) as soon as i can but for just now the only air input is a 12" oscillating fan sitting at the entrance of the space. its not really a huge problem yet though, so fingers crossed it stays this way until i can finalize the stability of the new environment. Normally i would prefer to establish spaces, and ensure they are controlable before i begin, but due to problems with other things, i dont have the luxury of time at the moment. i would advise anyone with the time, do this (establish space before beginning growing), as trying to fix all sorts of environmental teething problems (especially if you have no idea what sorts of problems to expect), whilst tending to your plants, can be an absolute pain in the ass.
plants have had a prune as well. over the last two weeks, they have had most of their fan leaves removed, and even some of the lower shoots on the lower branches have been removed as well.
hopefully in the next few weeks, i'll have everything taken care of, and things will be bigger and better.
i have 5 Silver Kush seeds i will begin a journal on soon as well, however at the moment, most of these plants are stuck in small pots still and will be getting re-potted, most likely tomorrow.

end of week two of the flowering cycle

end of week two

end of week two

end of week two

these are the latest pics of my four money makers. they seem to have grown a lot in the last week, but unfortunately, don't seem to have began flowering with much vigor yet. i think with the moving of the plants, the trimming, the changing in light cycles, and the over-all change in environment, they have maybe had a little bit of a stunt, but seem to be okay at this moment anyway.
for a few days, they seemed as though they weren't drinking the same, so i began to lower the Canna coco nutrients slightly, (2.5ml of each A&B per liter)  and gave them all a dose of Rhizotonic, the next day, they seemed to be back again. i have began using Blackstrap as a micro-feed/flavour enhancer, i add a rounded teaspoon per 5 liter of nutrients once a week, and so far, so good. they seem an okay colour, they seem to have stretched higher in the last week, i'm not sure if this will be because of the light being closer to it, giving it more light intensity, or if it will be something else, but all bud sites are showing signs of females, there are plenty of hairs now, i was just hoping, there might be a bit more than just hairs. perhaps i'm becoming to impatient already lol. i will hopefully increase the feeds again to 3ml A&B per liter, as and when the plants show me they need it, but as of right now, whilst i think they are enduring some stress, i will try to keep the concentration a little lower.
i hope to see some improvement in them over the next week as their environment is now settled, and nothing else should need changed now
hope everyone is enjoying their growing and smoking :)

End of week three of flowering. everything seems great. im feeling a lot more comfortable with my new environments and things. i am now running 2x600 watt air cooled lights in my space, where i currently have four plants. one of which is almost getting the entire lumens from one the 600's to itself. i think i possibly need to incorporate another oscillating fan soon, as my last one disintegrated, i believe with the size of these plants, they will need a good breeze to toughen up the stalks, which have stretched nicely. the plants have been trimmed and their branches tied down and out in a bit of an LST fashion. currently drinking 5 liters of water with a teaspoon of blackstrap, from the 5 liters, liter bottles are filled and each receives approximately 3mla&b per liter bottle of blackstrap water. i will more than likely run a dose of PK 13/14 next week sometime. i assume around the end of week four at least, not sure what concentration yet, but i'll wait and see how the plants look and decide from that. seeing nice amounts of buds developing now as well. was a little nervous for the first few weeks, but everything seems to be moving along nicely now, buds are forming, my only hope now is they become, melon-like, colas of sweet fragrant weed. oohh! talking about fragrance as well. this is a smelly plant. end of week two, and i can smell her. i have a carbon air filter running, and its still not covering the smell enough. i'm sure one or two, Ona blocks strategically placed should do the trick though. not a great plant for discreet growers where smell might become an issue, (IMEO)
will try and get some pics uploaded possibly later, or tomorrow, but don't have the time right now

so, i've been slow at keeping up to date, my bad, sorry.
the plants are now in day two of week 5 flowering, and they look amazing (have to take my word for it, cant get pics today, lol) at week two i was a little worried about this as i wasnt sure if i'd stunted them or if they were just slow starters. i have my eye set for how i expect things to look at week three, and these weren't how i expected. however throughout week four, they went a bit crazy and they have buds. this plant had crystals (trichomes) before it even had any formed buds on it. the crystals are everywhere, even up the larger fan leaves nearer the top of the plant. the smells are changing everyday, and they are only getting better/sweeter (worse, if you need to hide them, lol) i'm becoming very happy with this plant now if i've not made it clear yet. i started a pk13/14 schedule yesterday, and will give it again tomorrow and possibly two days later again depending on the looks of them. the only complaint i have about the plant isn't even really about the plant itself... i feel i over trimmed a little, not too much, but just a little bit over what i maybe should have. i should still get a yield i'll be happy with. i'll try and get some pics up tomorrow hopefully. things are a bit hectic with Christmas being just round the corner.
on that topic... Merry Christmas everyone
