"Today a majority of the Dutch Senate voted for the so-called growshop law, essentially prohibiting the supply, preparation and facilitating of illegal cannabis grows."

"It is already illegal to grow cannabis in the Netherlands, but now also supplying (even water cans and regular soil) and preparations (electrical construction for example) is illegal and punishable, depending on the size and personal vs commercial grows, by jail sentences up to 3 years"

Is this true and how would it affect the business, and the quality of weed in Amsterdam?

That would put a stop on seed companies obviousely. They cannot prohibit the sale of garden supply like pots, cans, soil or fertilizers except those who advertise as being made for growing cannavis. They really want to stop illegal growing for personal use it seems. The new dutch government is aiming at total control and zero tolerance. At least that was what I felt after not being in A'Dam for roughly 10 years or so.) 1997 to 2007)=  A whole different city and more police, less red lights and coffeshops, a cleaner city with a whole bunch of large new modern glass towers and buro houses. Givernment + opera houses near the IJ etc.  the Mecca for freaky outlaws and Hippies. They are gone as well, let alone for SOMA..lol

Need to get rid of Ivo Opstellen he is an idiot. Hope he gets replaced at the next elections before he does to much more damage. He is responsible for the weedpass which is still being enforced in South Netherlands , contary to the article on this forum that says they won a victory against the weedpass. If he gets his way any weed or extract over +15% thc will be classed the same as cocaine and heroin.

These coffee shop owners need to stand together throughout the whole of the Netherlands. They should all close for a month , see how he likes the loss of millions in taxes, as some of the shops have done in Maastricht till the laws are changed. Equal rights and fair trade for the whole of the world.

Pity to see the Dutch going backwards after leading the way on drugs policy for so long. Are you still allowed to grow a couple of plants personal over there?

You are allowed to grow between three and five outdoors legally as long as you dont feed them. All indoor growing under lights is illegal

Why? Indoor makes more sense. No chance of children getting their hands on them that way....

It's easy to think the Netherlands is a liberal country until you go over there and find out about the crap that the cofeeshops have to put up with even though they contribute millions to the economy...

It'll hit the tourist economy in Amsterdam hard if other countries begin to adopt a more liberal policy towards cannabis....

.

So many grey areas in Dutch law, most of the local council mayors want to start to regulate supply to the shops. Just the justice minister who has brought in the new laws does not agree. Old fool wants to make a name for himself. Hope they get voted out next year before he does any more damage.
