Hi from the UK,

Just starting out and joined the forum to hopefully get some much needed advice and tips about outdoor growing in our crappy climate.

As a total green horn I have shitloads of questions about everything such as soil, nutrients, watering etc, to get me on the right path.

Pete

Hi Cannabissapean,

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I recently got 3 Kalashnicova seeds and germinated one of them following the instruction on the GHS web site, then I got some potting soil from a local shop for seedlings and planted it as soon as the tap root was visible 5 days ago, the shoot is white and about 4 inches tall and it has now sprouted the first two real leaves.

What I need to overstand is what is the best sort of soil to buy as well as nutrients here in the UK for use outside.

Plus watering at the moment while it is young, once in the pot which is about 6 inches in diameter I was spraying water on it to keep the soil moist, but it looks a bit sad, the weather is warm and sunny today so I have placed it outside in a sheltered spot, hopefully it will help.

Pete

gasmeter,

Welcome again.  Nice pics.

Yeah, as we had discussed, the initial time didnt have enough light, but if it can acclimate outside and if the tube can keep the stem off the soil, there is a chance that she will stand.

Internet searches for "supersoil for MJ" or "Subcool's supersoil" will help to improve your soil mix beyond the store-bought mixes.  Perlite is important for soil grows.  Cannabis doesnt like wet feet.  Cannabis needs to dry-out a bit between waterings.  She likes to have Oxygen at the roots between waterings.

YouTube searches for "A Grower's Lot" (or Lote") and for the series "Brown Dirt Warrior" will provide some Entertainment as well as interesting Information about outdoor guerilla growing.

If you wish to improve your indoor germination and Vegging setup for a small operation, then I recommend a reasonably sized dual fluorescent lamp readily available at home improvement stores one with cool white, the other with a grow lamp spectrum.  This is enough for vegging and mother plants.  But for the bloom area indoor you would need something stronger and the right spectrum for flowers.

If you wish to consider an ebb-N-flow system, YouTube: "Mr Green's - I Grow Chronic" is entertaining and informative, and it works.

It's good that you have 2 more seeds.  Learn what you can from this one, hopefully to a harvest, but before cracking the others, do the research beforehand.

Good Luck and have a good grow.

Welcome to the forum, man.

As cannabissapean well pointed out, the main problem with your plant is they did not got enough sun.

I hope they catch up now you put them outside, take care.

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
