An EC-meter measures "electrical conductivity" of a liquid.

A TDS-meter measures "total dissolved solids" of a liquid, the total amount of mobile charged Ions, including minerals, salts or metals dissolved in a given volume of water, expressed in units of mg per unit volume of water (mg/L), also referred to as parts per million (ppm).  TDS is directly related to the purity of water and the quality of water purification systems and it affects everything that consumes, lives in, or uses water, whether organic or inorganic, whether for better or for worse.

As I understand it, EC-meters and TDS-meters are similar in function, but the results of their measurements can be expressed in different scales.  Sorry that I cannot remember the exact explanation of the differences in the scales.  I do remember that there was an excellent explanation somewhere here in Strain Hunters Forums.  Sorry, I cannot remember where or who had written it.  (Maybe HC01?)  Maybe another member here can recall it and post a link.

Until someone posts that link, one can find Information from various sources by performing an Internet search for "EC for marijuana"  or "TDS for marijuana".

Here's one of them:

Hello there I flush with 5.5ph straight water and keep flushing until my waste water or run off reads 0.4 EC once every 7 days before I commence a new nutrient feeding week and works very well.

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
