Especialy when your extraction exits right over the front door ,,

So somthing had to be done !

Time for a silencer !

Good! silence is golden;

my silencer is a a couple of blankets wrapped around my exhaust fan(which is a resonablyquite one, a Cann fan) and it reduced the noise by a least 90%

happy growing,

I wish dude !

The blanket would have cost me a damn sight less ;)

I'm using 600 wts in a space I would advise people to use 250 in ,,

Bit on the cramped side to say the least !

So I forced my own hand when it came to the extraction I had to go big ,,

Now my extractor aint overly loud but it is eficient !

It doesn't keep me awake put it that way !

BUT,,

It takes less than a meter of duct to reach the exit point ,,

Which was my problem ,,

There is no great length of duct for the air to slow down in !

It was way to loud to be discreet !

Hence the dirty great muzzle break ,,

But it has put an end to the noise ,,,

It also has the added bonus of being big and shiny ;)

N that can't be bad ;)

Good job Syn

Always good to be silent, nice 'n' stealthy.

I built a mdf box for my fan and stuffed it with old pillow stuffing, the added bonus was i had to buy new pillows, i slept like a log.

Fan noise was massively reduced, also built me a silencer from a camping roll mat which i cut out square holes with a craft knife. This made a lattice which i made a tube sealed with gaffer tape. I then wrapped it in plain net curtain, wrapped that with glass fiber insulation, covered it with plastic and gaffer taped it up. It worked a treat.

one other tip for a quieter fan noise is to buy a larger fan that you need and a fan speed controller. Having the fan rpm reduced to a slower speed made it very quiet. This is the method i am currently using , whisper quiet and i am still using the insulated box with it.

About us

Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet.

Cannabis, one of the most ancient plants known to man, used in every civilisation all over the world for medicinal and recreational purposes, is facing a very real threat of extinction. One day these plants could be helpful in developing better medications for the sick and the suffering. We feel it is our duty to preserve as many cannabis landraces in our genetic database, and by breeding them into other well-studied medicinal strains for the sole purpose of scientific research.
