Seedling has stretched due to the lack of natural light, so I joined the Strain Hunters forum to get some much needed advice.
I placed a short piece of tubing in the pot so the seedlings stem can lean against it to keep it off the soil.

Due to the lack of natural light inside the shed I moved the seedling outside and used an old vegatable steamer as a cloche to protect the seedling so it does not get battered about when it is windy and raining.

I have also used a plastic bottle to create a little pot within the main pot to bury the stem.
I am watering every 3 days or so using a light solution of the Cana Start.

Over the past month the seedlings stem has gained strength and it is thriving
I have repotted the seedling into a 10 inch pot.
Started to feed a mild solution of the Plant Magic Soil Grow and Root Stimulant.
Slugs have also been attacking so I have put some slug pellets on the surface of the soil to kill the buggers.

Mary is still thriving and producing new growth, had a few problems with pest, sprayed with a systemic insecticide that can be used on fruit to give protection for about 2 weeks.
Feeding a mild solution of the Plant Magic Soil Grow and Root Stimulant every 7 days, giving soil time to dry out.

Mary is still producing new growth and thiving well, I have hung some white plastic against the wall to reflect light on the shaded side of the plant against the wall, I also turn the pot every few hours so all the plant gets plenty of light.

Last week I noticed that Marys roots have now reached the sides of the pot, so I nipped to a local builders merchants and bought one of those heavy duty buckets for moving rubble and shit, I got one that is 20 inches wide, I drilled a series of 3/4 inch holes in the bottom for drainage and then repotted Mary into her new pot.
Fed a solution of Plant Magic Soil Grow and some extra Root Stimulant to encourage root growth and hopefully minimise any shock.
I also bought some Bamboo canes from a local gardening shop and placed them around the pot next to the main branches in case they need support later on.

Mary seems to have recovered from the shock of repotting and she is producing new growth and thriving.
Feeding a solution of the Plant Magic Soil Grow and Root Stimulant every 7 days, giving soil time to dry out.
Applied more insecticide again to protect Mary from bugs for another couple of weeks.

Mary is thriving and producing lots of new growth, I think Franco's description of the Kalashnicova as a Machine Gun of a plant shooting out growth all over is very accurate, even in less than optimised conditions she is doing great, I am well pleased.

The weather is now deteriorating as we enter the back end (winter) so I have been putting Mary in the shed when the weather is bad and light quality is shit, I have replaced the two flourescent tubes with new warm white tubes.

I trimmed off all of the fan leaves to allow more light to get to the whole plant, Mary was getting a bit too bushy, she looked a bit sad at first but after a few days she recovered and she is back on track.

The weather is still shitty so Mary has been spending time in the shed and outside, she has produced lots more growth and she is thriving well considering the circumstances, all the flowers and sugar leaves are nice and frosty and the trichomes are mostly milky and the pistils are slowly starting to turn amber, I am well pleased.

The weather has been pretty shit, so Mary has been in the shed more than outside over the past week, but despite this she seems to be doing OK and I can see more pistles are turning amber.
Fed with plain water to flush the soil.

Unfortunately we have had shit loads of rain over the past few days and I have noticed Mary has some bud rot on a couple of flowers on the main cola and on a couple of the stems, so I decided it was now time to give her the chop and harvest.
I placed all of the trimmed sugar leaves and broken buds into a couple of cardboard boxes and hung the stems with bud on them on a clothes rack and any loose bud on a flat board placed on the bottom of the rack and stored them in a small cupboard with the door open and a fan running and the curtains closed to keep the room dark and the window open a crack for ventilation.
After a few days I switched off the fan and left the cupboard door slightly open so everything dries slowly and evenly.

After two weeks drying I bought a 2 litre mason or canning jar, then I stripped the bud from the stems and placed them into the jar, unfortunately I don't have any decent scales and I forgot to weigh the jar before filling it, there is about an ounce and a half of bud and there was about 100 grammes of trim which I put into two polythene bags.
Before I started stripping the bud I smoked a cup, then a few more and a fat spliff, just for quality control, so there would have been a bit more in the jar otherwise.
Due to the fact I had to harvest early the hit is very heady and calming, but I am still pleased with my first result and I have learned a lot of very valuable lessons which I can apply to the next grow.

Aloha,

a very nice plant mate, it's a shame that your strain choice was so poor for your climate. Next time go with something EARLY so that it can actually finish under the sun, ideally by the end of September. UK outdoors is pretty tough and my situation isn't much better so I understand your struggle.  I've done a lot of strain research and testing so should you need some tips don't hesitate to PM me.

Keep growing!

Safe,

G.

Hi Gordon, yeah man she was a sweet plant and grew well despite my ignorancey causing her to have a rough start.

When I started her I knew it was late, but I just wanted to have a go so I could observed the different stages of her life cycle, knowing that I could end up with nothing or a bit of bud, which is how it turned out.

As for the strain I love Kalashnicova it grows well in the UK climate, this time I will get another going in May nice and early and I am thinking about doing maybe two auto flowers along side her just to see how they go outside and hopefully have some bud mid summer.

After breaking up the root ball I also realised that I can use smaller pots to finish off in, the pot I used was a builders rubble bucket 20 inches wide and I drilled a shit load of holes in the bottom for drainage, but it was really heavy after watering I weighed over 1 hundred weight which was a total cock to move about once she got bigger especially when she was flowering, although the pot had lugs for carrying, you end up lifting in a prone and stooped position as you aviod crushing the plant, so I will use 15 inch size one next time.

I have a shit load of beans from the commercial I have scored recently this has got me thinking about germinating them and then planting them in groups outside all over the place, rather than just throw them, there is no guarantee they are feminised so hopefully some will be male, it would be interesting to see if it could establish itself.

Hi Johnny, thanks man, she was a sweet likkle gal, unfortunately I started late just as an experiment, to have a go and check things out, but I will be starting in May this time.

Due to the fact it was November and the weather was wet and humid things were never going to go sweet, then I compounded this shit by being a total cock pressure washing the back yard, which just increased humidity in the shed where I had Mary due to all the rain, bumboclaat.

gasmeter,

the issue is not when you started the plant, 8th of July is not late. A cannabis plant needs just ~ 3 weeks of life to mature and be ready for flowering, you can observe this characteristic with grows that go 12/12 from seed, the plants don't start flowering earlier than that. The real issue was simply that this strain/phenotype starts flowering late and takes too long to finish. It has to do with the light sensitivity, some strains will just trigger flowering earlier, which can be as early as end of July/beginning of August, while others will start flowering in the first or second week of September which is too fucking late for UK and similar climates. An example of an early strain is Green Poison FV from Sweet Seeds, the earliest strain I've seen outdoors so far.

Cheers,

G.
