Water water every where !

Hey everyone ,,

Over the past 6 months we have a hard time with the tap water here ,,

The PH has shifted from a constant PH7 to 9+ and beyond ,,

So I decided to use my well water as I have a ground well ,,

This gives a consistent PH7.5 ish with maybe a point either way ,,

OK,,

I went out and checked the ec/cf of my well water last night ,,

It's reading 0.7,

My rainwater reads nothing ,

So whats pushing the ec of the well water up so much ?

My garden is orgnic so no nasty chemicals in use !

And the well feeds directly off the water table ,,

We have frogs living in the well ,,

So the water must be of a decent quality ,,

Any insights people ?

Your well water has dissolved salts in it from the rocks it has flowed through.

It may not be better than your tap water form growing.

I suggest you use distilled water, or buy yourself a small double osmosis water filtering kit,

For you such as thing is not a luxury but a necessity.

Thanks for the advice John ,,

In the short term it looks like I'm using my rainwater ,,

Untill I can budget for a reverse osmosis set up ,,

Hopefully sooner rather than later ,,

Wouldnt say I know Colridge just the Ancient mariner

i have a degree in English Lit.

Rain water will fine;

You can buy a small filter(double osmosis) for around 200 dollars.

I want one myself, but my tap water is not too bad(Ec is .02) but i do have to let it sit for at least 24 hours to get rid of the chlorine in it.

If you can get enough rain water, then you will not need one.

There is a bigger picture here !

Most people have one choice of water,,

The tap,,

I'm lucky I have three ,,

The tap my well or the rain ,,

Now using the power of my mind

Here are the respective PH's

The tap = 9+

The well = 7.5

The rain catch = 7.2

So which one is he gonna use for his girls ?

It's gonna be the one he has to use the least buffers in ,,

Thats common sence surely ?

Temperamental creature rain !

At some point the rain catch will run dry !

Which takes us back to the EC of the well !

The well would be my next option but for the high EC,,

It reads O.7 but 0.7 of what ?

0.7 I should be giving the plant I know that much,,

Reverse osmosis sorts that out,,

The PH is good so again minimal buffers,,

The tap being the last resort,,,

Its good for washing the car !

It contains,,,,,,,,,,Chlorine,Flourosilicic acid,Aluminium sulphate,Calcium hydroxide,

Sodium silicofruoride,

The salts of arsenic radium aluminum copper

lead mercury cadmium barium,

Not to mention hormones nitrates and pesticides !

AND THATS GOOD WATER FOLKS !

The recipe you give above is for what in the UK is tagged as greed weed,,

Regardless of strain !

It's the standard dealers soup,,

Nothing wrong with that its a farmers right,,

I worked a lttle bit with NFT in the early 90's,,

We got advanced what can I say !

Rave on

People take note !

It will give you huge yields and fat buds !

100% fact It 's no shit !

If thats what your after its a good way to achieve it,,

But for some,,

Nothing tastes like organics thats had rainwater and as little fuss as possible,,

That to is 100% fact,,

A lot of medicinal users are'nt worried about huge yields,

We only feed our needs,,

The only concern how pure and clean our weed is,,

It's just a matter of less is more to some,,

I like to keep things to a minumum,,

That works for me,,

But still the only issue is well water,,

It doesn't matter how many PH pens I wave at it,,

A reverse osmosis unit is still the only way to remove that 0.7 of leeched salts from the well water,,

No offence taken my friend; I misunderstood, and you are right about fluoride;where I live one has no bloody choice on the matter;It is a basic human right to have access to clean drinking water.here we have to pay for bottled water or a filter, to get that poison out.I can be brief sometimes, but it is just that I am trying to read and answer as many posts as I can;I did not think you were being insulting;happy growing, my friendjohn

you make some excellent points Syn.

In the states I noticed they like to use very high EC levels.

Plants are like us - they store excess food;

we store excess food as fat;

they store salts in their tissues.

There has been no research done on this area as far as I know,

but giving your plants high EC levels through out its life cycle means there will be a lot of salts stored in the plant tissue,

and I doubt if flushing the plant for 10 days before harvest will remove these salts completely.

if they are there, even vaporizing the weed will not prevent these salts from entering the lungs,

High levels of potassium have been linked to lip, throat and lung cancer.
